There is still hope: This October/November (2018) their former singer Elisabeth Pawelke on the Hurdy-Gurdy will regroup with FAUN once again for their best of 15th stage anniversary tour (back in 2003 there were only Lisa, Fiona and Oli touring with an accoustic program in small locations before the keyboarder and percussionist were joining the band )

Just discovered a new band to my top list! The cool thing is, the Saga of Egill mentions the Kvenian king Faravid, a translation of the Finnish name Kaukomieli, who was King of Kainuu in our folklore, a powerful wizard that even the Vikings feared. According to historical evidence for as long as there is any (down to the early 17th century) and before that, mythos, Kaukomieli/Faravid was the first known ancestor of mine. Things are not forgotten in the North. Now, a toast to our heritage!
Paganism was the original religion of the British Isles until Christianity (.an Eastern religion) .took over.....patriarchal in nature upsetting the balance. The titles witch and crone were denigrated as the older women were strong with wisdom and highly respected for their knowledge. These women were destroyed through the inquisition Fear and hatred spread like a plague. Over 100 women walked into the sea rather than face their persecuters. (They were raped, whipped, tortured drowned and burned simply because they were strong women who held their own beliefs) The ethos of the pagan religion is to care for and preserve the earth and skies. Thou shalt not take more from the earth or sea than is needed and respect all other creatures sharing the planet. Do what thou wilt and it harm none. So Mote it Be. If people lived in accordance with this way of life we would not be fearing for our existence with global warming and oceans dying due to over fishing. (throwing back dead fish into the sea) Jesus was a good man and I do not think that he would have tolerated any of this. He was a simple man...a fisherman who would never have killed fish out of hand and for no reason. He also showed great kindness to Mary Magdalene and had respect for women.
I tell you that most of the fisherman`s are hard working people and care for the sea, I assume you got a little bit brainwashed by Greenpeace or some sort of organisation. There is now more fish then ever in the sea, I admit 20 years back it was different because of the amount of fishing vessels and fishing quotas but now you have plenty rule`s. And ofcourse not all the small fish survives but a lot of small fish we throw back are still alive. So please dont say we are the evil man we are trying to make a living as well..

All cultures had an official cult and official gods, and contary to the popular belief, the pagan cultures were not "tolerant". In some cases, of course, one culture was taking the beliefs of other one, but that was slow process - which by the way also applied to the Christianity. But foreign beliefs and foreign magic, especiallly black magic, was seen as dangerous. Read something about witchhunt. In fact Church was not persecuting witches, but on the contrary, was teaching that witchcraft and magic are not real.
