Faun is a German band formed in 1998 who play pagan folk, darkwave and medieval music. The originality of their music style is that they fall back to "old" instruments, and the singing is always the center of attention. The vocals are performed in a variety of languages, including German, Latin, Greek, and Scandinavian languages. Their instruments include Celtic harp, Swedish nyckelharpa, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, cittern, flutes and many others.

Faun es una banda de folk pagano germánico y darkwave, aunque algunos de sus temas pertenecen a la tradición de música antigua religiosa (como las Cantigas de Santa María) ya que su investigación musical pretende abarcar todo tipo de culturas.La banda fue formada en 2002. La originalidad de su estilo musical recae en el uso de instrumentos antiguos y en el canto, que es el centro de atención. Las canciones son escritas en una gran variedad de idiomas, incluyendo el alemán, el latín, la lengua galaico-portuguesa, y lenguas escandinavas.
Sus instrumentos incluyen el arpa celta, el arpa sueca, la zanfoña, la gaita, la cítara, flautas, entre otros.

Die Band wurde 1999 von Oliver Pade, Birgit Muggenthaler und Werner Schwab gegründet. 2000 verließ Muggenthaler die Band wieder, war aber noch auf dem Debütalbum Zaubersprüche vertreten. Ein weiterer Gastmusiker war Niel Mitra, der später Mitglied der Band wurde. Die zweite CD Licht erschien 2004, mit dieser Veröffentlichung kamen zudem Rüdiger Maul und Niel Mitra als reguläre Bandmitglieder hinzu. Im Februar 2008 gaben Faun auf ihrer Homepage bekannt, dass Elisabeth Pawelke die Band zum März des Jahres verlassen werde, um sich ganz ihrem Gesangsstudium in Basel zu widmen. Gleichzeitig wurde Sandra Elflein als zukünftiges Mitglied angekündigt. Nach dem Besetzungswechsel tourte die Band im Frühjahr 2009 verstärkt mit ihrem in Kirchen und Sälen, erstmals mit reinem Unplugged-Programm. Der ausgiebigen Tournee folgte im November das Akustik-Album Buch der Balladen. Im April 2010 verließ Sandra Elflein aus persönlichen Gründen die Gruppe. Nachdem die im Mai 2010 anstehenden Festival- und Markt-Konzerte mit vier Musikern gespielt wurden, stieß im Juni Margarete Eibl als neues Bandmitglied hinzu.
