I'm an atheist. This is the first preacher who has made sense in this madness taking over in the evangelical world!!
The "normal" preachers don't bring politics into their sermons. I don't go to church anymore, but when I used to, sermons were taken directly from stories in the Bible, and shown how they applied to current day life and current day questions. Preachers who throw politics into their sermons are not spreading the "good" word.

I grew up in the church but I'm no longer a believer however I totally agree with him our American documents do not belong side-by-side in the Bible that's abs
Basically it comes down to this You can be a Christian who happens to also be a patriot but you can't be a patriot that happens to be a Christian it doesn't work that way if you really believe in God
I would respectfully disagree. I suggest they are trying to remove the focus from the Christian God and place it on supporting secular leaders with a religious furor.

The separation of church and state is best for both institutions; my conservative evangelical parents believed that, so they stood up for gay rights in the 90s and left their church.(Now they’re reviled by the people they stood up for, but that’s life.)
I’m honestly uninterested in going to church. I see it as a foolish endeavor nowadays like debating clowns for trump and comedians addicted to always being right and mocking those as woke who say they aren’t.

Based on this speech alone he seems to be one of the few conservative pastors that actually are talking common sense. We need more of these people like genuine Christians. It's people like him that really demonstrate what Christianity is supposed to be. You're supposed to practice what you preach. And if other evangelicals just don't understand then why are they calling themselves evangelicals!?

Am black American Muslim, and i totally agree with him. my understanding of what he's saying is that if you're trying to be a patriot, it's not through some selfish money hungry maniac politicians or feeding off from the hypocrisy of media which puts us against one another. He says respecting the laws of God will ultimately lead you to respecting our constitution as it is. If you actually had a direct connection with your scripture, you would be an actual human, a better American who doesn't care about fellow humans only when it suits certain ideologies and political parties.

The point is Cenk, Christian or not, you can’t add or subtract from the Bible (which is why it ends with amen…the end). You’re combining God’s word (according to Christians) with an amendable object, the Constitution. Amendable at the whims of man. The pastor is simply saying you can’t believe in the Bible (which says NOT to do that)…and then do that. And this preacher should be commended for pointing this out to people who have been (rather easily) fooled

I think they are beginning to be fed up, really religious pastors, of the exploration of the word of God which it is being used for political purposes

I always took that to mean. All political issues are that, political. All spiritual in my case belong to the Mother.

In our case we are of this earth. We’re not immigrants. I respect what this Pastor says. He is doing his job. Chastising his flock verbally. Too bad there aren’t more like him.

Regarding DT not knowing how to hold a bible(?)...., I mean... it's literally a book and there's text on the front of it. Hint: if the text is upside down, you're holding ANY book, including the bible, wrong. I mean, I guess it's not necessarily wrong, but he was getting his picture taken with it. Personally, if I'm getting my picture taken with a book or document, I'd like to try and make sure that I'm holding it right side up. Just saying.

The bible say "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" Pay your taxes, obey the laws and vote the laws. But keep them separate and give god his due in prayer, biblestudy and faith! Jesus said to ponteus pilate "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from the world" Jesus claims so many times that faith in him should not matter to political themes because his kingdom is not of this world!

There’re 45,000+ denominations of Christianity. Seven of Islam. Three of Judaism. So yeah, who would have the say in a church led state? Which of those 45k denominations?

And yes, Christians have both a civic privilege and a spiritual duty to be light among the darkness, and that includes politics. Focusing on the spiritual alone without doing works is Gnosticism, and it is heressy.
