Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet, but in the first movie when they are walking through the ice caves, Sid gets seperate and sees a bunch of stuff frozen in the ice. The stuff he sees are the main ‘villians’ of the next movies. He sees a mean looking fish (Meltdown), a dinosaur, and a spaceship.
@@thepandorica1660 Disney didn’t do any of these movies it was only responsible for the Buckwild one. the first five movies were still under 20th century Fox before the buyout so answer to your question none of these movies were Disney. They just lost traction because they didn’t know what to do after the first three and they were looking for reasons to make more.
I loved the movie simply because it had Buck in it, but the flying dinos really confused me because none of the other dinosaurs talked, but for some reason they did. When it first came out I went through a phase where I watched it every day, for _weeks._
Not only that, but Dakotaraptors like them couldn't even fly. I guess they thought they couldn't use pterosaurs because The Good Dinosaur already did, but they could've used Archaeopteryx or some other prehistoric bird.

To be fair, I think part of it may have also been that it’s the last ‘main movie’ of the franchise (not including the one specifically about Buck) and they were kinda just throwing everything in - they already included sci-fi technology and things like that, so it didn’t really need to be accurate so long as it made for good characters. Plus most people don’t really have much knowledge on dinosaurs other than the most popular/recognisable ones, so chances are, they were also betting on people not knowing what a Dakotaraptor is, or at least not bothering to look them up.

@@A-Terrain I honestly don't count that, Blue Sky Studios was the original studio for this series; Disney Plus didn't put the same love to the animation and story to it. Blue Sky Studio just had a different animation feel to it
Buck's version of "Largo al Factotum" is great, as is Buck in general. And it's satisfying to see Sid finally find love. Not the best in the series, but still infinitely better than Disney's attempted follow-up.

No, that's not the reason. I grew up with the Ice Ages, and I stopped watching them at the age of 14 in 2012 when the 4th one was released. I didn't even know there was a 5th Ice Age, and *THAT'S* the reason the audience fell off - we all grew up, the movies didn't grow up with us, and we were detracted from the 4th movie which was okay, but not great.

Re the talking dinos i always assumed the writers explained it to themselves by them being more Evolved dinos (they look maybe a similar species to the dino they threw off the cliff thinking it could fly but it couldn't in the third movie). And they mention about evolution when buck is explaining the repeating asteroids. Might just be an oversight or a convenient plot choice but that was what id assumed

The producer was always the same all the way through.

After 20th century fox was purchased the original creators of Ice Age animated a clip where Scrat finally gets his acorn, as a farewell to the fans. And in a time when animation is losing its value, it is a great gesture from the former studio, you should look it up! 😊
Personally, this movie is my second favorite Ice Age movie and I’m really glad that you guys really liked it too, but I also understand why people don’t like it, but it’s really not that bad

Also, I did not realize that all of these movies were theatrical releases. I thought Continental drift and collision course were direct video releases, but they are actual theatrical. They did not do as well as the previous films.

Its good in my opinion. Just once Disney took over Blue Sky the quality went WAY WAY WAY DOWN and even the creators were bumbed out about how they closed down the studio after they bought out the company, that they made a short with Scrat finally eating his nut. It's a sad and wholesome short

I think a lot of people were turned off by this movie simply because of how far gone it is compared to the first one.
