Offshore POWERBOAT Racing | SUPER BOATS Miss Geico and Victory Roll Over | Sarasota Grand Prix 2019

- SARASOTA GRAND PRIX 2019: Super Boats MISS GEICO and VICTORY crash and roll over at the Class One Powerboat Offshore Racing.
Class One Division is comprised of the biggest and fastest race boats in the world. All boats in the new division weigh 12,000 pounds and are up to 50 feet long, with identical twin turbo race engines sealed and governed by Mercury Racing to ensure fairness. Most are made of carbon, Kevlar and S-glass for high performance, and are equipped with F-16 jet canopies. Up to 1,200 horsepower and max speed of more than 160 mph. Such monster power needs a crew of 2 people - a driver who controls the boat’s steering and a throttleman responsible for operating the engines. Amazing, right? I can only imagine the adrenaline rush in the cockpit.
The focus was once again on the reigning 2018 and 11 times overall world champion MISS GEICO with driver James Sheppard and throttleman Steve Curtis. However TEAM VICTORY from Dubai driver Salem Al Adidi and throttleman Eisa Al Ali took the lead ahead of MISS GEICO and kept it until the end when, in a bizarre turn of events, both MISS GEICO and VICTORY boats rolled over within seconds of each other at the last turn during the final lap, awarding the Australian Team 222 OFFSHORE featuring driver Darren Nicholson and throttleman Giovanni Capitella (who had been in a third place position) the winner of the race. Luckily, nobody got injured.
Also participating in the Class One race were Team SCUDERIA CAZZANI Turbo, with driver Ed Smith and throttleman Serafino Cazzani, and LUCAS OIL Satcom Direct, with driver Jay Johnson and throttleman Nigel Hook.
As the Class One race was being conducted, two Vee Extreme boats were also in the process of racing: KNUCKLEHEAD INSTIGATOR, featuring driver Edward Smith and throttleman Anthony Smith, and HURRICANE OF AWESOMENESS, with driver Brit Lily and throttleman Kevin Smith. INSTIGATOR had been leading the race when the Class One accident occurred.

I like them too. They were considered the underdog, I always support underdogs :-) Hope both teams will be able to race in Clearwater next month. I hear Miss Geico bought another boat to compete while they repair the damaged one, I think it will race in Fort Myers in October.

this video is bad and it is no longer "the best and most powerful boats" due to regulations the previous miss geico engines were way better than the use they are currently using.
