Shifting is an amazing setup designed by Turbine Marine - you press a little button under your finger on the shifter which applied breaks to the turbine shaft dropping the RPM to the shift point for the transmission.

You have different gears in this? Why? I understand it with land vehicles. But a boat? Do you have several gears for forward? Why? I get the point of a reverse gear. However, forward gears make no sense to me. Spin prop, go. Spin prop faster, go faster.

It's hard to imagine 200 mph seemingly effortlessly!
It gets surreal over 140mph when it's more about flying than boating :)

@@nordic5490 yes but they have bearings and if bearings on a turbo for a car can be liquid cooled figured a jet engine might be too🤷
@@spankthemonkey3437 Yes, the vapor you see coming from the exhausts is sea water which is cooling the exhaust gasses as they exit the turbine via the jacketed exhaust pipes, warm water basically that you can wash your hands in.

I'm curious to know how the turbines convert to turning the proposals ? I'd assumed they worked like some sort of jet ski jet drive or something bt saw props.

Its a transmission... that takes the turbine speed and reduces it so the prop isnt spinning to fast..
at 10 seconds it shows the props on what is called a "direct drive" shaft
