    That Jag is beautiful. I love the detail you applied to this model. I especially like how you did the epoxy on the gauges to give them a glass look over the gauge faces, very nice touch. I may have to invest in an air brush to up my game.

    I'm Australian. Interesting to see such an iconic car that I lusted after IRL for so long in the 1960s and 1970s being built back-to-front. To my eye, everything inside the car is on the wrong side, while the fuel cap is on the correct side. I am in AWE of the work you did getting those wheels done. I have never seen Chrome on a model done that way and it's outstanding!! Thank you for showing me how to do that. . And you were right to get the 3D printed wheels. I always wanted some spoke wheels on a car. It never occurred to me Id have to spend most of a weekend cleaning them every week.

    Excellent build! I am waiting until this kit from Revell of Germany is re-released. I heard of mold issues on the body and RoG wanted to correct it. Your did an excellent job building this kit!

    • @Anonymous1999b
      @Anonymous1999b 3 роки тому

      Do you mean Revell will re-release the new tool they just released? I have bought this new tool twice now. Both kits have the bonnet about 4 mm too wide, lots of lumps on the body exterior. Otherwise the parts seem to fit together very well. Wrote Revell about the issue with the bonnet, they promised to send spare parts for free.

    • @007mrmike007
      @007mrmike007 3 роки тому

      @@Anonymous1999b, from what I have been told, Revell of Germany decided to re-engineer the body molds to produce a more accurate body and do away with the sink marks and bumps. The XK-E is suppose to be re-released in June.

    • @Anonymous1999b
      @Anonymous1999b 3 роки тому

      @@007mrmike007 That’s interesting really. The new tool Revell XK-E (e-type in the USA) now has a pre-order status in some online hobby shops. But because the new tool e-type was just released, i wonder if they re-release or modify that also, because of the same issues? Or will this be USA only re-release? We’ll see i guess.

    • @007mrmike007
      @007mrmike007 3 роки тому

      @@Anonymous1999b Since the Jag XK-E is from Revell of Germany, it would be safe to say that new body molds would apply to all kits that they are producing and not just the USA kits.

    I've built at least 12 award winning Real Versions of these cars, roadsters and coupes, series 1,2,and 3. The only issue I have with the scale models kits I've seen and own are that the details are not correct. They're all over the place. The molds are all from an early series 1, like number 18 we did a few years back. The rear springs were black with yellow or blue inspection marks. The steering column is gloss black, all of it, the wheel hub is silver, but the entire column would be black including the turn signal stalk. The accel. pedal is cad plated silver. The floors have removable carpets in the footwells which contain a wide strip of vinyl. Only the very early cars had gold carb "tops", the rest were black. Transmission is semi gloss black, silver top. Drive pulleys are gloss black. An early car would have a black generator with silver caps, not an alternator. Positive ground, which means the yellow tag you put on the box would be correct for a later car, series 1.5. Negative Ground. That tag also faces out. Exhaust manifolds are porcelain gloss black, very shiny. There's nothing gold on the brakes, all silver. The battery would have silver posts. Totally "wrong" radiator fan....thats part of the "details" I mentioned earlier. The shroud looks good but the fan would be a single blade, useless too! The heater core box is high gloss black. The intake filter Can should be the same color as the V-Box, stipple silver. Hammer tone. The washer bottle is white with blue fluid in it about 1/3 up. Thats the show rules. The brake bottle heat shield is flat white on the bottle side, silver on the exhaust side. A very early car would have red caps on the bottles, the rest would be gray. Considering those are square bottles, not round, they would be gray. Believe it or not, the majority of the exhaust is black on an early car. It stops before the resonators, which are silver. It has no brake bellows, odd, which an early car would have, right next to the bottles. If not, then is would have an aluminum clutch and brake transom....this model has neither of them, odd, but, again "those kit details". The plug wires on an early car would have the XK150 style conduit and the head would have 2 lifting bars across the second and sixth head nuts. Also, the plug wires go behind the radiator hose next to the engine, not over it. The is NO amber on a series 1 front lens. These would now be a series 2.... Believe it or not but on an early car, outside mirrors were a customer bought option!! Seriously! They didn't ship them with the car. Good work on the assembly and paint detail. Nice camera work too! Don't mind my detail nit-picking, its been my real job for the last 40 years of resto work.

    Beautiful work. I have to ask….do you scrape the paint off the part you’re adding glue to or will it still work? Some of the parts looked to be a press fit requiring no glue…is this right or was the glue there? I’m just a beginner hoping someday to build my modelling skills.

      I use super glue and don’t scrape the paint off, only if the parts don’t fit

    There are a few inaccuracies with this model: Exhaust manifolds shown are not E-TYPE exhaust manifolds, but early JAG 4 DOOR SEDAN versions which slant backwards, E TYPE manifolds point straight down from the center point of the side of the engine block. Windshield washer jar is CLEAR GLASS on EARLY E TYPEs / WHITE TRANSLUCIENT PLASTIC on later versions. RADIATOR FAN is only straight 2 blades, driven by its own electric motor mounted on the front cross frame and does not extend thru a grill behind the radiator, there is no shaft from the engine turning the fan. Also the turn indicator cover should be BLACK, the stem is chrome and the tip of the stem is black. The EMERGENCY BRAKE shown is for a RIGHT HAND DRIVE CAR, this model is LEFT HAND DRIVE. The TRANSMISSION shown here is an OVERDRIVE VERSION, NOT TYPICAL FOR E TYPES, (but available for 2+2 model), and finally the WIRE WHEEL KNOCK-OFFS are not correct type for Jaguar E TYPES. . .WHAT A MESS. Hi, am interested in printing those wheels. I have the file, and have an elegoo saturn printer, but am finding the slicing software is adding a lot of supports within the rim, and attaching to the spokes, making them very difficult to remove without damaging the part. Did you come across this issue as well, and if so, how did you solve it?

    Hi, I bought the same airbrush mr. hobby ps-290, but after applying the varnish, it spat out the remnants of the dry previous paint on the surface, although I washed it. How do you service it after painting? Do you completely disassemble it, unscrew the nozzle every time? The instruction does not recommend doing this. Thanks)

      if it spits out paint, it has not been cleaned out well enough, you'll need to be more thorough. Do not remove the small nozzle piece, that will break very fast. You can remove the bigger front piece with a wrench.

    idd like to recreate this with following along with ur video since im pretty new and this is my favorite call of all time but can I also just use a regular paint brush for everything? or do I need an airbrush for these colors and coats and stuff?

    Great video, very nice detailing explanation, really impressed with the engine bay work. Amazing amount of detail. Thumbs up!!!! However, and maybe its just me. I'm sure this is a UA-cam thing. This was a 25:57 long video, did I really need to cancel out 14 ads (that an ad every 1.8 minutes). Seems a LOT aggressive.

    How do you mix your Tamiya Surface Primer? Whats the ratio?

      I don’t know. I just keep adding thinner untill it flows through my airbrush nicely

    The wheels look fantastic as does the rest of the model! I just downloaded the STL just to see Walid's work. Do you generally prefer to use bare metal foil over spraying chrome for window trim?
