    This jig will help square off pen blanks ready for turning on the lathe. Usually you could use a barreling drill bit but I find that a bit tricky and not effective all the time. With some simple offcuts and some basic aluminium materials and bolts you can knock one of yourself.

    Looks good Manny, disc sander is notorious for sanding smaller items out of square quickly, and this jig should help in getting squares properly 👍😁

    Great work Manny and glad to see you achieved it when parts are ( *cough* ) ( *lockdown* ) hard to come by. I don't turn pens, but even just the 90degree groove could definitely be useful for other things on the disc sander.
    Thanks!

      Thanks mate. Ye the principle would work for other sized parts as well to square them off.

    Good stuff manny! like you used a jig to make another jig! keep it up! Just a suggestion may be some paste wax on bewteen the boards to make it move smoothly.

      Good idea. I used some of my chopping board wax but paste wax might be better

    G'day Mannie, what a cool little jig. I was about to say at the start "That cross-cut jig looks fam.... oh!" 🤣 We've certainly not had one of these in the comp (in fact I've never seen one like it at all). Top stuff! Added to the playlist.

    Great little jig and I can see it will come in handy! Can you slide it across the sanding disc so that it doesn't wear out on bit of the disc?

    • @woodenthumbyt
      @woodenthumbyt  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Mae. Ye the mitre fence I made ca slide to different positions along the disc sander so it doesn’t wear out the one section
