    I learn so much from your videos! You have helped me understand the process of canning things and storing food. I did not have a mother who did this sort of thing at all when I was young. Thank you so very much!

      I’m glad it’s helpful! My mother did this very early in my life so I have a few memories of this lifestyle- it was a good life before the chaos of my later childhood so I hold on to the good times.

Babies switch their heads back and forth when resting all the time...don't let the rude critical people stress you, they need to find something to do with their time. You are a great mama and I love that you tilled holding your sweetie on your back...that is too cool! We are tilling our garden this week and planting next week. I would love to have raised beds, but it is not in our budget at this time....maybe slowly a bit at a time down the road. I do plan to plant in like square foot spaces and put limbs around the edges and mulch the walk areas well.

    I’m a new canner and still learning the ropes. I had no siphoning with my hamburger this time around, so that was a plus. I did some jimmy dean sausage and had a lot of siphoning of that, but still have more than half a jar of liquid, so they’re still good. Very flustering though. I was so careful with the heating/cooling, and was careful to tighten the bans enough. Everything sealed though. I also just did black beans last night for the first time. I only had one jar siphon with that from what it looks like. Set to to do Garbanzo beans tomorrow as an example to a friend who wants to learn how to can. Will be doing more hamburger too.
    My azure order, despite the fire they had, will be in next Friday. Makes me so sad. Fortunately no one was hurt, but it’s very questionable with all the food production/distribution centers being targeted this year. Anyway, great job! Rose Red Homestead is another you tuber you may enjoy for her canning/food preservation videos.

      You have been a busy bee!! That all sounds so yummy!! It can be frustrating when the jars don’t all seal. I’ve got some pork bone broth going now and it has loads of fat to be skimmed off before it can be canned. Nervous about it sealing proper!!

      I had the same problem with siphoning. Come to find out that I was not leaving enough headspace. I am sure some of it was because of turning the heat down too far during the canning process.

    I use canning salt. I ALSO heat a 1/2 pint of Jim Beam Red Stag and 2, dried then smoked, Morita peppers, until only 2 ounces of liquid remains. Put this “mash” through a food mill, and add a teaspoon into each quart jar.

    USDA & Ball say never store jars with the bands on, ever. It can create a false seal and be very dangerous. If the bands are off you will know if the seal failed but the bands can hold it in place and you won't know. Please research this for yourself so that your family's food supplies are safe. Appalachia's Homestead with Patara has a very good video on this. It goes into great detail. Just discovered you channel and am enjoying seeing your Azure hauls.

    Why do you put apple cider vinegar when your soaking the beans?

    • @RowesRising

    I think I missed something. So, you put the beans in the jars with the vinegar to soak overnight. Why did you have to take them out of the jars before you canned them? I have lots of beans. I really need to do this!!!

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  2 роки тому +1

      To rinse them- in a few of the large kidney bean jars the beans were totally wedged and stuck in the bottom of the jar!! I didn’t want to can that like that so those couple of jars that happened to I had to take the beans out to remove the stuck ones😅
