it serves exactly its purpose... (like for any other mild electrified sports car). The idea is really just to not wake up all your neighbors before a nice weekend trip

Kudos to Chevy for continuing to make cool hybrids and PHEVs as many consumers still aren’t comfortable with a transition to full EVs and a fun hybrid is a great transition point. It sounds like every other C8, including mine, because it has the same LT2 engine and the performance exhaust. The Z06 has an even better sound, with its flat-plane crank 5.5L LT6 engine.

Im on a list and hopefully be able to order in a a month or 2. I know there is so much love for the Z06, but for me E-ray beats it in so many ways. Easley, 11K difference, (lower msrp, included ceramic brakes , no GG tax, etc). Faster all the way past 1/4mi. More consistent, AWD and safer in bad weather. Still can handle track duties good. You will save allot of $$ on gas. might be able to get yourself out of trouble if the main engine is down or other issues. Battery has an 8 year warranty and should not cost much to replace if needed. Lots of good things.

I’ll choose street smart every time. Most college students end up working for some company making less than 6 figures a year. While many drop outs these days make 6 to 7 figures per year. You may out smart me in a class room, but I’ll out smart you in the real world. The fact that you’re asking how he can afford that kind of car tells me that you can’t even afford a Chevy. Which is dirt cheap entry level supercar or high end sports car which ever way you want claim it. You say you’re not trying to be offensive but that was clearly you trying to be offensive. Keep up the good work, electrification is so vast and intriguing. There can be so many configurations that electric and hybrids cars can do that make it stunning. They made the space for the electric motor systems on the C8 since the beginning the space is in the gas cars too, Integrated in the chassis. Awesome cars all the way through!!!!!

This takes the second gen NSX to the next level by using a V8 over a twin turbo V6. Still though, the second gen NSX's drivetrain was ahead of its time for a car under $200K.
I've driven a few of these at work. They are definitely nice. But depends on how much your looking for a Well built and sturdy car. I feel as these jeeps kinda have a noisey and somewhat loose or improper built build quality to them. But still they seem like a really decent car. I don't however think it would be a choice had I been wanting something from that category.
Very good review of this amazing Corvette variant. I want one, try getting it if you're an average Joe like me. Eager buyers waited in line at certain large Corvette dealerships months ago just to get on the list with a $4k downpayment (no dealer near me seemed to take orders); these buyers are just now starting to get them. So I think this car is out for me for now, but I absolutely would love this Corvette up here in Philadelphia, where winters can get a little snowy. Oh, hate that damn square steering wheel btw!
I think the reasoning behind the not letting stealth mode happen under 50 degrees is because of the engine needing to warm up to rev match properly with the electric motor
Which is interesting, given that if you are using stealth mode you're going to be pulling away slowly anyways. Seems like a better implementation then would be to warn that the switch will take longer than usual. I'd imagine it's more to do with the tiny battery supplying quite a bit of current to run the still pretty powerful motor, and batteries don't like being put under high load when cold, just like engines. Strange that there isn't an option to pre-start or something and warm up the battery for a few minutes first.
It's good to finally see a Non Car Guy review the C8. In answer to the which model, I'd prefer- the ERAY although I don't like the wide body. I wish that there was an ERAY the width of the regular C8 Stingray.

You need to get your hands on the Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered because it has the same hybrid setup. The ICE only does FWD and the electric motor powers the RWD.

The benefit I see how chevy did this is that the two systems ARENT connected at all mechanically. So the ICE should be as easy to service as a normal C8.
chevy has had a issue with the winter weather in most vehicles they make , for whatever reason on the small gassers its worthwhile to lockout 6th gear in the winter to keep the engine warm and intercooler from freezing creating terrible gas milage and a loud car in the winter for next to no reason since it was easier in software than to make a different part for the intercooler

Hybrids are the future, not full evs. A good plug in hybrid with a 70-mile range, like Mercedes makes, is the right solution for the next 10 years

Like Gm’s version of the Acura NSX. Same drive trains ( v8 for Gm, v6 for Acura)

Or it could be because it doesn't have any thermal heating like other GM battery packs utilize.
To the contrary, it has thermal Cooling, including its own radiator

Quirks is a nice way to put it. Sounds to me like they thought nothing through.
A few minivans have pulled this trick in reverse. Petrol FWD and a battery on the back axle. I never really thought about the syncing issue.
You can show the skeleton while explaining the battery and the rear axle. It will really take the autofocus up a notch as you are great with tech!

It's such a busy design. All the angles, and surface interruptions, and different pieces. It looks like a late 1990s boom box.
