Ahhhh, the 6.5 Properly Redesigned Creedmoor. Hornady just made up that precision rifle crap lol. Jokes aside, Coues deer and the way they are humted has always fascinated me. I really enjoy these videos and the information therein. Thanks Ron and Joseph keep up the great work.
Reports are that Elliot Coues, military surgeon and naturalist for whom this subspecies of whitetail is names, pronounced his name Cows. The problem is, most hunters say Coos and don't know what you're saying if you pronounce it Cows. Because language and pronunciations are always evolving, we might have to run with the crowd on this one.
CM wins simply because you can now find it just about anywhere ammunition is sold. Even for a hand loader you never know what may happen and finding ammunition on a shelf may become necessary. Everyone has to do there own risk analysis, for me I run common cartridges I can find anywhere if I’m spending the money to travel for a hunt. If I’m at home hunting whitetail I use whatever fits my fancy that day, if something changes I can run home and grab whatever I want so the risk to using something out of the ordinary is minimized to the point i consider in a none issue for me.
Come on Joseph please correct Jeff when he continues to say “Caliber” when you both know that the proper term is and always has been “Cartridge”. But aside from that another good discussion on your thoughts about proper cartridges for the Grey Ghost of the South West. My trusty .270 Win with 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips going 2953 fps will handle the task splendidly. 😎🦌🏜️
My friend Joseph is a field editor for Shooting Times, a Western Editor for Petersen's Hunting; and Field Editor for Guns & Ammo magazines. He's a winning target shooter and accomplished big game hunter and all around good guy.
Thanks. Yes, Elliot Coues did pronounce his name as Cows, but few do today, so doing so often leaves them wondering what you're talking about. Since doctor Coes left us in 1899 and can no longer protest, I'm afraid we'll have to go with the masses on this one.
Ron, I think it’s time to part ways with vonbenedict. His brother and him give hunters a bad name. Besides he’s a “know it all” that doesn’t. Can’t even watch him!!!
Tyler, I don't think it's fair to judge a man by what another man is or does. As for "know it all," I've tested Joseph many times and have rarely discovered anything hunting and shooting related that he doesn't know. I'd say let's give him some time to find his footing in front of the camera because he has a lot of solid knowledge to share. If he continues to displease you, just skip his videos and endure mine! Cheers!
@@RonSpomerOutdoors Ron, I tend to like your Pairing with Joseph. He Brings Variety to your channel. You do Great Videos and have taught me a lot about better ways of sighting in my rifle. And my understanding of that. And I enjoy your cartridge Videos as well. But sometimes I'm just not in the mood to hear too much about Ballistics. It's a thinking conversation and I have been thinking details at work all day. I just want to hear easy talk about a topic I like, guns and hunting. I especially enjoyed the vidio you two did on Bear guns. A Fun topic but serious as well. Also the recent vidio about how Most all cartridges do the same thing as far as in a six inch tube at max point blank range. I think that is a uniquely intelligent approach that simplifies cartridge choices to some degree. You both present yourselves in a calm and enjoyable way. I Hope you and Joseph Continue to work together. Best Wishes from Montana! M.H.
Dime, many folks don't seem to understand that mentioning or recommending any SAAMI approved cartridge does not endorse or benefit any particular manufacturer. Winchester, Remington, Sierra, Barnes, Nosler, Norma -- virtually every ammo maker loads and sells 6.5 CM. Would it change things if the 270 Winchester were used instead?

Your killin it Joseph! Love listening to you!
Btw, killed a two point last year with that Garner muzzy I got from you.
Love that wood burner in the background!
Love Ron
Coues deer always seemed like the mysterious miniature white-tail of the south west.
Awesome video thanks fella's 👍
As a long time photographer and videographer for TV and other forums, I would ask you to please leave more headroom when framing your shots.
Could you explain why that is important? Thanks.
Because it anoys the videographers watching😂
Love this channel
Great thoughts to improve our shots in strong wind!🤜🤛
I was always taught that it was pronounced "Cow's deer", not "Coo's deer.". But I am not always right, regrettably.

Now Ron would have recommended the 260, or any of the more powerful 6.5 flavors. 🤔 Keep up the great vids! 😂
I would have.

Was the voice dubbed into the video. It looks like a foreign film dubbed in English
7mm-08?
Great video!
If you don’t want to fool with a range finder, why would you carry two binoculars and a spotting scope?
Who is this guy!!!????

Good video. Just FYI, it’s pronounced cows deer

Where is the real Ron??

Spot on. Guy is a pompous ass. And for the love of God, say "cows" deer, not "cooz." Don't perpetuate a mistake.

Great video, just hate you have to recommend certain cartridges based off of your endorsements. - Do better
Agree 100 %. Ron's channel is losing credibility very quickly.
Ron I wouldn't worry too much about the insults of a Dude that calls himself "dimebag."
I got the impression that their recommendation was any flat shooting rifle.
You obviously don’t get it !
