Today is December 25, 2024, and I lost my husband a few months ago, and this is really cheering me up by watching match game! Sitting here with my two dogs and my cat. And this has cheered me up very much thank you much MATCH GAME PRODUCTIONS!!!
She was robbed. Waiter and Waitress are the same idea. If a question was about a teacher you wouldn't have to choose between a male teacher and a female teacher.
I totally agree, that was BS. I guess she could have said "server," and avoided the conflict, but who would have thought of that? I'll bet they do have her back, I hope so.
She was definitely robbed, but I don't think she was brought back since she had won a few games. On another episode (perhaps earlier, maybe later in time) CNR wrote "Waiter or Waitress" and the judges didn't accept it because the contestant had said "Waiter" (or "Waitress"🤔). The rulings are wildly inconsistent and don't _always_ have to do with the level of attractiveness or appeal of the player as some have alleged. In this case, they may have wanted the perky blonde over the frumpy (albeit lovely) brunette. And now I'm the one pointing the finger... I'm saying it's a possibility but not definite. The judge may have been in a more sticklery mood that day.
That is truly the dumb dumb seat! You have Marianne and now you have Melinda, they both TRY NOT TO MATCH THE CONTESTANTS!!! It’s really insulting to the contestant. And BRETT does it when she’s drunk thinking she’s being funny.
13:47 "Earl? ." You got any hot dog buns under the 100 dollar response ?" You got em? May I see your hot dog buns? 14:25 " Slide it Earl. " 14:34 " All right, Earl, let's see it."
H/H match update: ... (Random note: This is the first time I've heard Gene call Charles "CNR" ~10:44) Another new champion. I always look forward to seeing which celebrities they call on for an audience match suggestion (and the order in which they call on them) because it reveals something of their personality and of course who they'll choose for the H/H match. (Random note #2: I remember the song "Hot Cross Buns" from grade school music class when we had to learn to play it on our recorders -- wood flute-type instruments.) This champion goes the traditional route and chooses Richard for the first audience match suggestion and again for the H/H match. Today's question: " ______ Coach " Back to the easy questions? Stage coach. Richard quickly filed his answer. The contestant very confidently answered "football coach" which sounded highly unlikely to me even before the audience booed. But you never know. Richard has pulled off some unlikely matches in the past, especially for attractive young contestants... Well, I don't often match Richard, but today I did, unfortunately for our contestant. No match today. Looking back all the way to and including episode 531, there have been 52 H/H matches total. Richard has played an incredible 40 of them. He matched 20 of those, which is really quite good (up there in Betty White/Fannie Flagg territory). He and Brett had been basically tied since forever, trading places on the leader board about 8 or 9 times overall, but this incredible hot streak has changed that, and is responsible for bringing his overall average up about 2 or 3 percentage points or so, giving him a modest lead over Brett. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts). Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 39.8% (130 wins in 327 attempts). Brett - 38.0% (19 wins in 50 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 587, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Why isn't Johnny plugging Dick Gautier as starring in When Things Were Rotten? Was it on another network? All of the other stars know that he played Robin Hood on that show, Gene even mentioned it.
My thought was "turkey," but Richard is right. I lived in Burbank (thankfully, only for one summer), and they've got cockroaches down there the size of your little finger. That's only a slight exaggeration.
@@der22672 And would say if it bother people then the producers would have told him to stop. But actually to the write in vote when people questions Richard kissing all the ladies, the vote was for Richard to keep doing it..
Love Allen Ludden. They keep ridiculing him but he clearly made Betty happy. Allen has a STAR in Hollywood Walk of Fame next to Betty’s. The rest of them don’t. LOL
Waitress and waiter should have matched. They do the same job. But then she did specify waitress. Too bad. I mean come on, they match girl, woman, broad and little woman all the time.
Partly she likes the attention, but I've observed that all of the top tier of panelists ask for repetition more often than the bottom tier. Also, Charles has complained specifically about the noise from a fan.

STICKY BUNS

Funny, I auditioned for The Weakest Link and I did eat at a restaurant later across the street from NBC studios!

Gene is 58 years old here. 🥀
6:03 “he’s a good provider”🥹
11:26 THE BEST LINE FROM BETTY!
Brett must not have had another gig. Gene never gives her a shout out like the others
On this date in 1952, The tv game show Play Your Hunch hosted by Gene Rayburn aired it's first episode.
According to the interwebs, "When Things Were Rotten" was on ABC.
Good for Betty for appreciating another happy human. She is a treasure
That's y we all loved Betty, rara gem indeed.
Never heard of Melinda Fee. Had to Google her.
Kinda' felt bad for Melinda; that creepy “initiation kiss” at the beginning of the show.
Mike Sebastian Have you noticed that Gene has a tendency to make everything about sex? It just gets worse and worse and is very off putting, IMO.
@@ShortyGirl63 Yeah, I like Gene and all but I thought he could get a little creepy with all the kissing, calling ladies girls, etc.
Mike Sebastian OMG. That's what people did back then. It was the 1970s. People weren't as uptight back then as they are now.

YAY MIKE 🙏🏽💙🙏🏽
They really rip on Bettys husband a lot

@@mlchc9004Stars buy their own star on the walk of fame. If you want one and have the money you can have one too. Not a big deal.
They do. He was a very handsome man I thought. I think it's all good fun. He gave it right back to them when he was on MG.
I hope Sandy comes back due to a technicality ❤
It's amazing that they never realized that networks never made a damn bit of difference to us
They probably didn't care.
I need to chat with Mike's pharmacist.
Gene and his rusty suit.
KATE IS A BEAUTIFUL LADY... I WONDER HOW TIME FAIRED HER LOOKS
Waitress and waiter should have matched. They do the same job. But then she did specify waitress. Too bad. I mean come on, they match girl, woman, broad and little woman all the time.
Debora Gustin That call was just ridiculous. I hope they have her back. Bad call!
Julie Overright
Lol, if they haven't had her back by now, 40 years later, not going to happen.
Could it be that one was male and the other female?
@@ShortyGirl63 Well since she had already won 5,500 plus dollars I guessing the producers didn't think time..
@@sdlively27 and that is worth about $27,500 in today's money.
They taped all of the weeks shows on one day. Obviously some of them changed their clothes, most of them did not!
Well one week of show plus a PM in a single day, 2 weeks worth over a weekend because Gene lived in MASS.. ;0)
Thanks so much!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Leave him alone! geezz..
What's up with Dick Gautier's hair?
He looks like a cocktail waitress
Oh wow! I spoke too soon
He actually references it during the waitress question
Haha. Very prophetic!
His hair shows poor taste for sure, and shows a taste of thing to come for the disco era.
@@UberLummox Yes how can we forget the disco era?!
Seriously I've been trying...
@@jeffclement2979 A big 10-4 to that my friend.
He was playing Robin Hood in a pretty rotten TV series, not worth watching.
Prince valiant hairdo
Gautier's hair looks great.
Richard’s salt and pepper suit
Richard and Betty's card are in reference to Dick Gautier's series "When things were rotten" (www.imdb.com/title/tt0072585/?ref_=nv_sr_2 )
Then there's "The Invisible Man" with Melinda (O.) Fee....www.imdb.com/title/tt0072515/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_24
Is it Katie "Heints" ??
Actually "Katie Heinz"....she was majoring in Broadcasting / Journalism and went on to become one.
Mike's wife, Sandy was on episode 382.
Great catch! I noticed his wife said she was happily married to him twice.
Wore is past tense to present tense of wear. LOL Brett
She knew. She often garbled the proper word formation on purpose.
Gene is the one who said that wear was the past tense of wore.
I thought "Looking for" was a good answer for the Columbo one. Maybe because he was always looking for his spots on the set with his one eye lol
KATIE - LOVE ME DO.
...You know I love you.
Down boy she's probably 70 by now.
is brett f-in hard of hearing???? every time he has to show her the question.
Partly she likes the attention, but I've observed that all of the top tier of panelists ask for repetition more often than the bottom tier. Also, Charles has complained specifically about the noise from a fan.
ADHD.
She is a😊 royal pain in the a_s & so is patty deutsch!!!!!
Have you ever noticed drunks lose their hearing?
The attention. She seemed very thirsty
OMG,3 people( & I use the term loosely) gave a thumbs DOWN?!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?😳
Panelists:
1. Dick Gautier
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Melinda Fee
5. Richard Dawson
