Carol(e) Fis(c)her reminds me of Vicki Lawrence - facial features especially with some of her expressions. Jack being a hotel owner in Encino is hilarious.
I loved once they started spinning the wheel they'd have to play with who it stopped on btw it didn't stop on Richard very often n the players still won
H/H match update: ... Our champion wins her second game. For her audience match suggestions, she calls on Gary, Brett, and Richard, taking Gary's suggestion. Wake up, Earl! ;-) No one suggested the $100 answer. Brett had the $250 response. Gary's answer was worth $500. Quick recap: Richard has been chosen for the H/H the past ten times (matching four of them), and this champion chose him last time and won $5000. There's a definite lack of suspense as we wait for her to make it 11 in a row. Today's question: "Jump on the ________" Bandwagon. Is there another good answer? Apparently it's more obvious to me than to the contestant or to Richard. The former looks puzzled and a bit lost, and the latter is scratching his head, squirming, and then shaking his head. Seeing this, Gene remarks, "It's a hard one, yup." (I think this is kind of weird. Bandwagon came to me right away, and I'm the expression was definitely used in the mid-1970s.) I've never seen Richard take so long to write his response. The camera cuts to him looking towards seat #3 (which I've never seen before). It looks like he's reading suggestions Pat wrote. Then he's looking to seat #6 (where he often glances) and maybe Joyce has written a suggestion. The music plays on. Finally, he writes. Gene doesn't say a word even though he's scolded both Brett and CNR when they used less time than this. The contestant offers the response I'd thought of. (Really, what other possibility is there? Jump on the bed? What?) The audience breaks out in a healthy round of applause, and Richard exchanges a word with Joyce. I was sure Richard was going to match, but I was wrong: "I thought that was 'fall off the bandwagon.' All I could think of was jump on the trampoline." (The expression Richard was thinking of is "to fall off the wagon," meaning to resume a bad activity such as drinking alcohol.) No match today. (Richard's definitely in a mini-slump. He's only matched once in the past six H/H rounds.) Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts). Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 40.1% (140 wins in 349 attempts). Brett - 38.0% (19 wins in 50 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 613, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
I bet the producers love it too (since he's saving them a lot of money)! The contestants might be slightly less thrilled, considering Richard has only matched once the past six times. In fact, looking back at the past 613 shows, Richard's track record for matching isn't awful, but it's towards the bottom. He's batting 40.1% compared to CNR at 45.2%, Betty at 46.9%, Fannie with 52.6%, Joyce with 75%, Gary with 83.3%. He is a little ahead of Brett with 38.0% though.
@@proud_brettsomersfanclub8687....The star wheel was the death kneel for Match Game its never the same without Richard. No one could replace him. Brett could easily be replaced on the other hand.
Jump on the bandwagon was the only answer I could think of. I'm a bit puzzled how some of my previewed episodes aren't red lined. I'm now finishing up a block of 75 episodes
I guess Richard wasn't familiar with the phrase "jump on the bandwagon." He said that he had "fallen off the wagon," but that's in a much different context. "Trampoline" wasn't bad though, that was my second thought.

How fun one of the contestants was an actual motel manager from Encino!

Jack being a hotel owner in Encino is hilarious.
She really does!
i was gonna say the same thing!
I was thinking the same thing! 😀 👍
Can you imagine all the "behind the scenes" stories Earl must have had.
He probably met a lot of people but it seems like he spent a lot of time in that box.
If he's still with us (which seems likely as he was a young man during his "sliding" years), I bet he could write a book about the show!
@@kevansf Having a second go round watching these, I considered Earl part of the match game family
Yes, I certainly can, and I wish he had written a book! I'd love to read one, by someone in the know, but I haven't found any yet.
Lol...okay, that Jack guy was cute...I run a motel in Encino...(chuckle)
16:48 "....I have a little motel in Encino...."
Brett: "I knew he looked familiar!"
Earl is always caught napping back stage, lol!
I'd say "He doesn't count sheep, he counts money."
Love Jack's little intro there!
Did you mean Gene?
I loved once they started spinning the wheel they'd have to play with who it stopped on btw it didn't stop on Richard very often n the players still won
I wonder if the celebrities knew those questions in advance and there was some secret formula on how to answer or who to let win.
@@pencils812That would be rigging the show, which was caught in the 1950’s. If that is caught again it will force all game shows off the air.

Joyce tells a joke (Mc on game shows) with her answer and it cost poor sally the game or at least a tie. 8:22
No she didn't 🙄
Joyce was so silly.
They had Martians landing and eating blanks but in New York not Los Angeles on a previous question.
The writers start running out of material.
Carol has a slight resemblance to Vicki Lawrence 🥰
I like how they always go to Richard for the big bucks, even if the other players wins them the $500. Richard & Charles are my favorite btw.
I don't it's starting to be repetitive to me as much as I love my Match Game. Bring on the Star Wheel.

Amazing!! No one said the Martians eat POLITICIANS!
I did
if they did, some would get some very bad indigestion
What the "we" comment Gary,it was Gene and Brett. I like the way he twisted it to him

I can't BELIEVE Joyce did that in a Tie Breaker!

Sally Murphy was hot, a Pity she didn't get the belch question pure girl, she's my kind of woman 👩🏻👈 yeahhhh.
Joyce is the only one that thinks her jokes are funny. Enough with the stupid jokes- they’re not funny!!
ESPECIALLY in a Tie Breaker!
I always thought Joyce was funny
Has anyone seen the episode that Betty is talking about at the end of the video at 2:50?
