With Switch, we all thought Nintendo would actually change for the better. As Colin explains on this week's episode of Colin Was Right, we were all catastrophically wrong.
Even as a hardcore Nintendo fan, I can see where he's coming from with a lot of these frustrations but waving off Project Octopath Traveler? You're gonna need to hold this L for that one.
RogersBase I don't think the issue is the game itself, it does look great. It is just overshadowed completely by talk about the announcement and Zelda/other first party games.
I don't know what you are talking about. That is not the case, besides, that maybe sometimes the sales stagnant( which they don't, you clearly mixed up ,,not selling the most systems in an month'' with sales stagnant, but okay) was not his assumption from this video. He thought that the Switch would be a failure. Which it isn't. The Opposite came true. So no, he might not be still right. It's time to eat crow.
@Ahmed Faraz PS4 is going to be one of the best selling consoles of all time. Selling a little bit less than it right now (when it is cheaper, have a newer model and a huge and still expanding library) really isn't a metrict of underperforming. At the end of the day, the Switch is going to be one of Nintendo's best selling consoles - at least on par with NES (60 million) if not closer to Wii (100 million). This holiday is going to be great for them with Pokemon and Smash - next year Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 and Animal Crossing.
It's lack of power is absolutely important. Stop saying it's not, for fuck' sake. You DO realize that's a huge reason third party devs keep abandoning Nintendo consoles, right?
blakeesmith84 3rd parties don't abandon consoles due to low power. Look how many big studios (EA, Ubisoft, Activision) release games on iOS. The release on consoles with large player bases. Nintendo looks like they might have an uphill battle to get one
blakeesmith84 Yeah, but the increased power also demands higher quality assets that take higher budgets to make. Nintendo fans clearly care more about gameplay, and that can be appealing to studios who might want to try a lower-budget concept.
"Its success will be limited at best". The Switch is now officially Nintendo's highest selling home console of all time, surpassing the Wii. Just with every previous generation, Colin has cemented himself as another brash pundit who loves the sound of his own voice, but actually has zero fucking clue what he's talking about. He was wrong about DS, 3DS, and now Switch. He's a pseudointellectual buffoon with nothing of any value to say. A total embarrassment that Kinda Funny is better off without.
I also disagree on KF being better without him. KF is HORRIBLE now. Greg without a counter balance is not fun. It’s the opposite of fun. I only watch the older videos now and even then, not often.
If you watch the switch presentation, Colin clearly has a massive issue with the launch line up (which could have done with 1 more game) but ignored the fact that they were clearly making sure there’s a new major game every other month at least.
@@tiredhippo82 That was probably their best strategy when it came to launching the console. For early adopters, they're consistently excited for new software throughout the year. And come Christmas, the people grabbing it for the holidays have an extremely healthy lineup of games.
"It will have better 3rd party support than the Wii did". - Real1Gaming, 2013 (Wii U Review) See I can pull a speculative quote off something you made years ago and use it to discredit you too. Edit: You're welcome for the view on that.
I never said you should listen to me either. :P But indeed, I thought I was right, I was not. But guess what? I'm man enough to admit that I was wrong on many points. Colin has not admitted to being wrong on Vita AFAIK. If he has, I respect that though.
+Real1Gaming He did admit to being wrong; za.ign.com/vita/72143/feature/playstation-vita-two-years-later But to it's credit he still candy coats it with this nice quote; "The real shame is that there’s little Sony could have done to stem the tide against its handheld, at least when it comes to hardware." Kind of a round about way to soften the failure. Some what trying to not blame Sony by saying "but yeah they made a great piece of tech" when the hard line is "They made a great device and didn't make any software for it themselves or promote it and support it". Also he kind of makes contradictory points in his defense of the unit. Claiming initially that Vita fails is because it "doesn't have huge games" .... but at the same time he won't say that the Vita has "no games".... instead he says the "Vita is awash with quality software, so much so that I have no hope of keeping up with it all." Mind you shouldn't quality titles be "huge" games?! Although in reality a big problem with the Vita was that it was largely a "port" machine... and specifically an "indie" port machine. Of course all good games, but that's relative to their development sizes and expectations. The funny thing is he even mentions the Vita having Call of Duty or Assassins Creed... but tells the truth there... which is that they failed and simply were not games that lived up to the caliber of their name sakes. So again... does the Vita have "quality" games then when those specific titles weren't delivering. Does the Vita actually have games, if there are no games to entice people to buy it, cause they are available on other systems (for example the PS3 and PS4 or 360 and XB One). Yet Colin still stands by the Vita even since this article, claiming that the Vita is still a great system that no one appreciated or bought (a claim that could be said about the Wii U with it's great first party titles but overall lack of support). It's a double standard of course, and he wouldn't dare refer to the Vita as a fiery blazing failure despite it selling a a mere 1.5 million more than the Wii U which it better have considering it launched a whole year before the Wii U.
The Nintendo Switch has been on the market for 22 months in the US. When launch aligned, the total install base of the Nintendo Switch is 22% higher than the PS4 and 34% higher than the Xbox One, respectively. In December 2018, the Nintendo Switch was the best selling hardware platform, selling more than the PS4 & XB1 combined. Switch sold 125% more units than the PS4 and 92% more than the Xbox One. In December 2018, Switch had the best selling single month of any console hardware this gen. Switch generated the highest December month hardware dollar sales since the Wii in December 2009, and achieved the highest December unit sales for a single platform since December 2010. Nintendo was the top publisher of 2018 in the US. The last time Nintendo was #1 was in 2009.
Imma leave this comment here so i can come back and rub it in how wrong he was after e3 Edit: Looks like Colin was wrong, once again Edit in 2021: Jesus christ the switch has sold 80M consoles, man this guy was wrong
well they just announced a new fire emblem coming to switch which is one of the biggest franchises they have now,and we still have e3 coming up so they could announce plenty of things there as well
i was just mentioning it because he said they wouldn't announce any more games worthwhile. i was using it to show that the possiblity of them annoncing more games is high. and the first year lineup for the switch is pretty good. Zelda,Mario Odyssey, fire emblem warriors, possibly xenoblade 2,splatoon 2,mk8 deluxe, arms, sonic mania and sonic 2017,Fifa,skyrim,and more. and that's not even including virtual console, and games that could be announced at e3. it's a lot better than ps4 or xbox one's first year lineups.
Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Afterbirth, and Afterbirth + are all coming to the Switch in a bundle. You say "Anything worthwhile" I say that the presentation was to wet our appetites. (Although I could be wrong, but hey, this is fucking Nintendo we're talking about here, being cautiously optimistic is about the best you can roll with. Which I am mind you.)
Uh-huh.. And this is coming from the guy that believed the Vita would crush the 3DS.. I'm just gonna save this video for later when everything said here turns out to be false.. And I bet Colin would still damage control it then just like his 2011 Vita article.. And before any of you clowns try to label me as a ''nintendrone'' that damage control Nintendo or whatever, I actually left a comment on Nintendo's FE direct stating that it's a great mistake to release games for the 3DS and android phones when the Switch's launch titles is still sparse, and if the Switch fails, it would be through Nintendo's own incompetence.
Jappy Chan first off Nintendo stated they were still making games for the 3DS. That would be a slap in the face for anyone who bought a 3DS recently to hear there's no more games coming to the system.
At the time of writing the Vita WAS set to crush the 3DS. It had better specs, the same price, Little Big Planet, Uncharted and the 3DS was bombing. Way to take that article out of context
At the time, the vita could have ABSOLUTELY crushed the 3DS. A lot of game journalists thought so, until Sony abandoned it. Besides, Colin has addressed that message before and admitted he was wrong. He is dead on with the Switch though, this thing is going to die.
1989theblacknight Yeah, he "hates" it and then pre-ordered the Switch anyway. You don't buy something you hate; that goes against the definition. Tim is a blind fanboy; the worst of his kind.
all valid criticisms but I think Colin did not address any of the good sides of the switch. And at least switch will have exclusives, Microsoft seems content to cancel all of theirs. How about a Colin was right on that?
JD Marshall well I think the software lineup looks pretty good. He mentioned the re-releases of games on previous platforms but Sony is the king of that and no peep on it. Also it is special edition skyrim not regular, even said on the switch presentation.
Only 1% of western developers made games for the 3DS and that sold 60 mil sooooooooooooooooooooo you dont need shitty dime a dozen, generic open-world and FPS games to succeed, bros.
Kinda Funny Games I agree but there was a bunch of Japanese 3rd parties like Sega, Square Enix with 5 games plus what was seemingly an exclusive, Atlus, Toei Kechmo (idk if I spelled that right) making a game completely using Nintendo's own IP, Bethesda putting their first game on a Nintendo console since Home Alone, Ubisoft working on a bunch of stuff thats not ports, and i guess maybe EA depending on who you ask lol my guess is that it'll turn out to be very similar in terms of software to the 3DS, which isn't bad at all.
I think he's doing these himself, he's professed to be not quite production savvy. I'm sure as soon as nick saw this he mentioned that the framing was an issue. That being said, since they're so busy, the framing may have been done intentionally so they could easily fit the relevant images beside him without having to manually pan over or use 2 cameras and add more editing work.
This video is like fine wine where it just kept getting funnier as the generation went on. and now, here we are with the next generation on the horizon and can officially say that Colin was absolutely, undoubtably, completely, beyond the shadow of a doubt, wrong.
I only bought the PS4 to play PS4 only games? I'm only buying the switch to play switch only games? Everything else is on PC and better, what's the difference?
+Luke Marshall Yeah sure, let's all invest 1000$ on gaming. Yeah, makes sense. I wonder if "gamers" realize that not everybody can/want buy more than 1 console.
I didn't get their Wii U and don't play many of their exclusives. However, I'll be buying it for games like disgaea and setsuna on the go. And by that I mean being lazy on my bed, lol.
Nintendo Switch sales have already beaten out the Wii in just two days and Breath of the Wild is their best selling game of all time. I guess you could say Colin was wrong. :)
All Colin has to do is open his mouth and say this type of crap so Nintendo proves his ass wrong. HEY COLIN! Nintendo Switch became the best selling console at launch!! What do you have to say about that?
I agree. One extra thing that's going to happen, which nobody seems to be mentioning . . . Splatoon 2 is launching in the Summer right? Before the online service launches, so is Nintendo going to essentially lock everyone out of that game after 2-3 months unless they have an online subscription? I'm nearly convinced this is why the online subscription is coming later, after splatoon, because it will guarantee Nintendo will make more cash and gain more subscribers if millions of people are locked out of a game that they just purchased, one of Nintendo's biggest online IPs. I mean, these people HAVE to then pay for the service or else their game is useless. Mario Kart too. I think it was done deliberately. Nobody else find it strange that MK 8 deluxe and splatoon 2 are both releasing BEFORE the online service??? At a time where there's barely anything else to actually play???
While the Switch presentation was far from perfect, you guys are taking it the wrong way. I know a guy who tests games for Square and 1 month ago he told me this would happen. The reason that there isn't many 3rd party games is because devs didn't get a dev kit until recently. The games will come.
Wii U software was pretty critically acclaimed(especially for first party games with Starfox being the exception that defines the rule). It flopped because of the bad marketing and the lack of 3rds party games which happened as a result of the small install base. So what's your point? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Does only sales matter or does the quality of games matter too?
Lol no the games won't third parties will not develope for this console any of the games people want on it as it is not and never will be powerful enough to run the proper 3rd party games unless its got the same specs as a gen one xbox one or higher it will not be able to run the Third party games it also needs a lot more on board memory for those games to be worth while people who were "in the know" said the games would come for Wii U too for exactly the same reason but they didn't why because the system was using out of date hard ware just like the switch will be.
Try to use punctuation next time. I'm probably not getting the Switch so I don't care either way, but from what I can tell this console is just as capable, if not more capable, than the Xbox One.
it'll have a pretty good year, 80 projects are currently in development for it and Scalebound being cancelled, maybe we'll see Bayonetta 3 announced for it in the future.
10.5 million Switch units sold in US, outselling PS4 and XB1 launched aligned. Colin was WRONG. Another "Vita is destined to succeed" fanboy rant. This really didn't age well lol
One reveal conference and you're already sure it's a failure? You even said in this video that the 3DS's launch was bad and the Wii U's was strong and neither of those correlate to their legacy. I agree the conference was hot garbage, and we can talk about that forever, but to mentally count out the whole console this early is silly.
Luko's Picture House Well said all this panic, doom and gloom is the reason I'm getting so tired of gaming coverage these days I remember a time when we used to get excited about games and not treat our favourite hobby as a matter of life and death.
Luko's Picture House Thanks. He is contradicting himself there. The 3ds had a shitty launch line up and by now has one of the best game libraries of all consoles ever. I still have a huge amount of games in my backlog for that one. So how does the Switch having a lackluster launch line up inevitably mean that that won't change? His logic sucks.
I've been following the Switch closely since January & based on new info & what's been said by devs etc, it sounds like it's going to be quite successful. Colin's concerns are reasonable, but like so many people do in life he's taken it too personally and judges based on his specific criteria alone. We're all entitled to our opinion, but if you're going to make a series called "Colin was right" at least make sure you're completely factually correct.
This comment is the only comment that didn’t just applaud Colin blindly when this video originally came out, and is now the only comment that hasn’t aged like trash.
I love this show Colin. I love the switch and I get to play awesome Nintendo games on it. I was sold from the beginning. Breath of the Wild will be so awesome on the switch. I admit the conference was bad, but that only dampened the mood a bit for me. They also keep announcing games after the conference such as Fire Emblem. The games are definitely coming. There will not be a game drought that occurred with Wii U again.
Colin is right. Here in Australia the Switch will sell for $469 without a game or extra peripherals. You can buy a PS4 or X1 pack here with up to 6 games for $400 or less.
Colin is starting to sound more natural every week. Kevin should still use a zoom in on him rather than a wide shot. No TV show like Oliver and Maher uses wide shots.
For me I'm mostly a handheld gamer so for me this is a replacement for my 3DS, and so I'm very happy with the power for it. And since it is part home console, I will finally be able to chip away at those games that I never had time for before. This is my most hyped Nintendo console since the N64. Maybe I'm just a biased nintendo fan, but I can't wait.
I think this is pretty well suited to what Nintendo does.. theyre bridging the gap between "new gamers" (someone who doesn't own another console, or at least very many games) but wants to try more gaming.. in that case, it's mostly a good deal.. But to anyone who is in depth with gaming, be it consoles/PC or at some degree, even mobile gaming... the Switch has so little appeal.
That REALLY awkward moment when the PS3, a console from 2006, is still getting third party support while the Wii U just ended it's run. bruh, it outlived two generations of Nintendo consoles. lmao
Nirvana Paradox every time I played one, which was like 3 times, the console had to update, which did basically nothing. No one had one and besides like uncharted, there was like no good games that you couldn't get on Xbox 360.
So Colin... I am curious if you will get Breath of the Wild for your begrudgingly pre-ordered Switch. Like at this point if you do play it on the Switch people will call you out because it seems contradictory to your stance on the system. Or you could play it on the Wii U, which you hate with a passion. Interesting situation we have here. Breath of the Wild could very well be the best game this year, so what are you going to do?
Mathew O'Brien Well Colin literally did say he will be getting breath of the wild for Wii U during the Switch Livestream, yet here he is magically pre-ordering a switch, which he says he probably will give away. He might not give it away just like he said he wouldn't pre-order... If he gets a switch and plays breath of the wild on launch day doesn't that go against what he tried to get across in Colin was right? He is all about not supporting companies when they fuck up and this is a prime example of needing to put your money where your mouth is.
Right, that's what I would think too. Yet he was running his mouth about how he would wait till Mario for the Switch. They have Greg and Tim to talk about Breath of the Wild on the Switch anyways. Both of them are getting it. Colin needs to be very careful on how he handles this situation. He shits on the Switch, but then goes out and gets it. No matter how much you spin that, it does not look good on the surface.
Carson Smith Remember that he is a gaming journalist. He will need a Switch for work sake most definitely, but as he's said countless times, he wants Switch and Nintendo to succeed. It's just frustrating to cheer them on when they're making colossal fuck ups. He also speaks on terms for the general population debating buying the system. I held all these ideas the day I read about the Switch after its reveal. It simply is not enticing for the majority of console gamers, inevitably ending up like the Wii U. Frankly speaking, I hope it flops so that we can get great Nintendo games on other systems. That way I can play Zeldas and Marios without having to fork out money for a console that's not supported. It's simply isn't worth shelling out hundreds of dollars for a handful of Nintendo games. After a few months, Zelda and Mario do get long in the tooth......
We've heard your opinions about this in at least two other Kinda Funny videos. If Jim Sterling really is one of your inspirations for this series, then it would be good to realize that he usually save his wrath for the Jimquisition videos, so he doesn't repeat himself. The fact that the channel is so prolific with its output means that there is a lot of repetition in terms of subject matter. You recently did a video about 'Too Many Games' in which you made some good points, but using the same logic, it might be possible to have too much video content.
There is a lot wrong with the Switch, mainly in the way it was presented, but coming from someone who skipped the Wii U I can't wait to pick up my pre order day one. The titles they have this year are spread out yeah but its fine with me, Skyrim is a 6 year old game yes, but I've never been able to take it on the go with me. I still have faith.
Also $80 joy cons = 2 controllers, Im fine with that. The pro Controller is $6 more than a PS4 controller. Im fine with that. The dock on the other hand, yeah thats bullshit
You brought up the point that Nintendo isn't bundling the switch with a game right at launch, which makes people think it makes sense when you compare it to the Wii, but most systems don't come out on launch day bundled with a game
So accurate. Subbed. I have one preordered by the way. Bought wiiu at launch too. This thing is a zelda and mario machine in 2017. I dont expect much else when it comes to good games
Fire emblem is 2018. As for the others those just arent really my thing. Im just speaking personally I will be using this thing for classic exclusives IPs. Not really a Splatoon guy nor pokemon. I am a mario, zelda, metroid, smash guy
Smash will come, eventually. And Reggie has already hinted that a new Metroid is coming, and Mother 3 will be making its way over here (finally). Zelda and Mario is just year 1.
Honestly, A true Zelda and true Mario game is more than we got on the Wii U. In fact, based on thethings we know about the Switch so far makes me prefer it to the Wii U, and if we're being honest, the Wii U actually had a lot of fantastic first party games. Luckily, most of them are joining the Switch (and I can take it on the go, that's amazing to me).
You did a great job of detailing why this company has been failing in the console market for many years. The last Nintendo system I bought was in the late 90's, the Nintendo 64. At this point I don't even entertain the possibility of ever buying their products.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing these PlayStation/Xbox fanboys get triggered by Nintendo being Nintendo and not conforming to their idea of what gaming should be. The Switch will be a massive success, even if it gets mediocre 3rd party support people buy Nintendo to play Nintendo games! Why would you want another sub-par PC like PS4/Xbone when you can have the most powerful gaming handheld ever made? we don't need another shitty PC in a box. Let me play HD console games anywhere! That's actually interesting and different!
We might get it but Colin is talking of what nintendo showed and presented now. Maybe they get back on track in a year or two who knows but he is "right" about his current statements if you watched the presentation.
The preorders already show Colin was wrong sold out everywhere amassing to half a million sales at GAMESTOP ALONE not to mention it is popular in Japan with preorders opening tomorrow people WANT this thing biased channels and news sites will try to mislead you
Drake Bro no its not wait for sales numbers what new console doesn't sell out now. same thing happen to the wii u heck even the nes & ammibos & those two were bc of force scarcity

just go to their youtube channel. They proudly proclaim it as 'best selling console in America', you would believe it was best selling since launch, right?... NO! only for 3 months last year when PS4 sales slowed down and gamers were waiting for the more powerful PS4 PRO lol.
You know, if people stopped buying Nintendo products. They would stop being stubborn with things like proper voice chat, 3rd party, paid online incentives, accessory prices, digital store prices, digital store library, and listening to their fans.
The video has aged badly. Switch will most likely end as the most sold console ever. But... even back than this video seemed not to be made on a basis of facts but for sensationalism.

He's saying that its not important to Him.
blakeesmith84 it isn't important. Look at the huge 3rd party support the Wii had.
blakeesmith84 3rd parties don't abandon consoles due to low power. Look how many big studios (EA, Ubisoft, Activision) release games on iOS. The release on consoles with large player bases. Nintendo looks like they might have an uphill battle to get one
Right? Why would these third party devs willingly make something not as big or graphically amazing as could be made on the One or PS4?
blakeesmith84 Yeah, but the increased power also demands higher quality assets that take higher budgets to make. Nintendo fans clearly care more about gameplay, and that can be appealing to studios who might want to try a lower-budget concept.
With hindsight, this feels like another "Vita is Set to Succeed."
"Its success will be limited at best".

9:11 "The games aren't there and they aren't going to be there." That's my favorite part of the whole video.
"The Playstation Vita is set to succeed" - Colin Moriarty, 2011
Yeah, I wouldn't listen to this guy.
Over one thing?
"It will have better 3rd party support than the Wii did". - Real1Gaming, 2013 (Wii U Review)
See I can pull a speculative quote off something you made years ago and use it to discredit you too.
Edit: You're welcome for the view on that.
I never said you should listen to me either. :P
But indeed, I thought I was right, I was not. But guess what? I'm man enough to admit that I was wrong on many points. Colin has not admitted to being wrong on Vita AFAIK. If he has, I respect that though.
+Real1Gaming He did admit to being wrong;
za.ign.com/vita/72143/feature/playstation-vita-two-years-later
But to it's credit he still candy coats it with this nice quote;
"The real shame is that there’s little Sony could have done to stem the tide against its handheld, at least when it comes to hardware."
Kind of a round about way to soften the failure. Some what trying to not blame Sony by saying "but yeah they made a great piece of tech" when the hard line is "They made a great device and didn't make any software for it themselves or promote it and support it".
Also he kind of makes contradictory points in his defense of the unit. Claiming initially that Vita fails is because it "doesn't have huge games" .... but at the same time he won't say that the Vita has "no games".... instead he says the "Vita is awash with quality software, so much so that I have no hope of keeping up with it all."
Mind you shouldn't quality titles be "huge" games?!
Real1Gaming In fairness its 2016 and its still making money. AND HUGE $ in Japan
This gets funnier with each passing year. 80m global sales at the time of writing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's now very close to outsell the PS4.

"I'm sure that it's sales would be low at best" uh huh, six months later Colin was mostly wrong
Yup. I wonder if he will ever own up to his error

4 years and he was 100% wrong

Very wrong.
The reveal was still terrible
Imma leave this comment here so i can come back and rub it in how wrong he was after e3

UPDATE IT AGAIN! This dolt was PHENOMENALLY wrong. ^_^
Dude was off
The funniest part is that he made the same mistake with the 3ds
And now it's cracked 103 million, overtaking all past Nintendo home consoles. Talk about a complete embarrassment this video and this person is!
4 years later and the Switch is on pace to outsell the Wii, the PS4, and dare I say the PS2? How the turn tables
To be fair, we're STILL getting daily announcements for new games, just saying...
KashKey if they had anything else worthwhile to announce, they would've done it at the Switch conference.
well they just announced a new fire emblem coming to switch which is one of the biggest franchises they have now,and we still have e3 coming up so they could announce plenty of things there as well
Coming in 2018. We're more concerned about the first year line up.
i was just mentioning it because he said they wouldn't announce any more games worthwhile. i was using it to show that the possiblity of them annoncing more games is high. and the first year lineup for the switch is pretty good.

"and if the Switch fails, it would be through Nintendo's own incompetence."
That's the entire point of this video -_-
Sorry but the Switch doesn't have nearly the same amount of promise that the 3DS has. You're delusional if you think otherwise.
Tim made 150 accounts to dislike the video XD.
Rm13_Productions Wiiwierdos won't accept reality.

Alright that was pretty good...
Watch his reactions to the event. Tim hated it too.

How about a Colin was right on that?

downphoenix they did a gamescast on that, he did mention he liked the hardware, as do I, its software damnit, software that is killing us
JD Marshall well I think the software lineup looks pretty good. He mentioned the re-releases of games on previous platforms but Sony is the king of that and no peep on it. Also it is special edition skyrim not regular, even said on the switch presentation.
It's not special edition. It's only the original game with all DLC.
That is special eddition it has been confirmed
Only 1% of western developers made games for the 3DS and that sold 60 mil sooooooooooooooooooooo you dont need shitty dime a dozen, generic open-world and FPS games to succeed, bros.
Who said anything about western developers? I merely said they need third parties to succeed. Because they do. -Colin
Kinda Funny Games I agree but there was a bunch of Japanese 3rd parties like Sega, Square Enix with 5 games plus what was seemingly an exclusive, Atlus, Toei Kechmo (idk if I spelled that right) making a game completely using Nintendo's own IP, Bethesda putting their first game on a Nintendo console since Home Alone, Ubisoft working on a bunch of stuff thats not ports, and i guess maybe EA depending on who you ask lol my guess is that it'll turn out to be very similar in terms of software to the 3DS, which isn't bad at all.
shut your unfunny serious ass up. lame ass channel.
dont even respond
Monolith Gaming These devs would rather develop on the dead Vita. Nintendo bias and ignorance.
Also, imagine thinking people wouldn't play the system because it didn't have achievements built in.
Another great episode! But could you try zooming in more on yourself, you seem a little too small on the screen
Brannon H thank you for saying it, he feels so damn far away
I think he's doing these himself, he's professed to be not quite production savvy.
I'm sure as soon as nick saw this he mentioned that the framing was an issue.
That being said, since they're so busy, the framing may have been done intentionally so they could easily fit the relevant images beside him without having to manually pan over or use 2 cameras and add more editing work.

This video aged well.
Funny that Nintendo is now miles ahead of both Sony and Microsoft in terms of first party software. It's not even close.
This video is like fine wine where it just kept getting funnier as the generation went on. and now, here we are with the next generation on the horizon and can officially say that Colin was absolutely, undoubtably, completely, beyond the shadow of a doubt, wrong.
Thanks Nintendo for making my decision easy to save my money.^^
ShionShinigami Same. I'm getting Zelda on the Wii U. They actually unsold me.
+Jeremy Seal Same.
Wii U versio doesn't even look as good a the switch
Clee Van Leaf and your point is?
I guess the fanboys are mad we can play Zelda without buying the Nintendo tablet.
Another underpowered console that only the fanboys will buy. When have they ever done that before?
I only bought the PS4 to play PS4 only games? I'm only buying the switch to play switch only games? Everything else is on PC and better, what's the difference?
50 Million people that didn't and won't do either of those things.
You are the minority within the minority.
This is so funny in 2023 (today Nintendo reported that the Switch sold 122 million units)
I know he admitted he was wrong but almost 80 million later and it might pass PS2 sales over a lifetime
Nothing. Now he will wait until something... anything shows the Switch isn't as popular as it could be should be would be.
Replies that have not aged well
A tester isn't a developer... and even if "time heals" this issue.. its not a promise that games will run well, or be any good.
(cough, WiiU, cough)
Wii U software was pretty critically acclaimed(especially for first party games with Starfox being the exception that defines the rule).
It flopped because of the bad marketing and the lack of 3rds party games which happened as a result of the small install base.
So what's your point? You can't have your cake and eat it too. Does only sales matter or does the quality of games matter too?
Gotta love the "I know a guy" comments.
This fun to watch 8 months later.
it'll have a pretty good year, 80 projects are currently in development for it and Scalebound being cancelled, maybe we'll see Bayonetta 3 announced for it in the future.
Gizmos Monster wish granted :)
"The Playstation Vita is set to succeed"
Now this, yikes.
"How many people are just going to play it on Wii U" referring to BotW. LMAO.
Luko's Picture House Thank You! I still give the presentation a 8.5/10. They could have done a lot more but I don't think it was terrible.
"Why should I buy this thing? So I can play Zelda, wait six months, play Mario, and then who the hell knows?"
Apparently.
So... basically you want the PS4 and XBox combined that is both cheap and portable? Maybe a few years down the road but right now that's impossible.
This aged like milk.
Man you have no idea how wrong you guys were
This comment is the only comment that didn’t just applaud Colin blindly when this video originally came out, and is now the only comment that hasn’t aged like trash.
I truly feel sad for those of you who feel like you need trophies to enjoy a game these days.
"Whatever the fuck that octopath game was" - Common Colin, game looks dope as hell.
This is just superb.
Great job, Colin!
He was WRONG again, you call that superb lmao
It SOOOO hilarious how jaw-droppingly wrong he was. AGAIN.
this aged well...
Be careful what you wish for. -Colin
Guess he sounded too comfortable so KF had to can his ass. Figures.

That REALLY awkward moment when the PS3, a console from 2006, is still getting third party support while the Wii U just ended it's run.
bruh, it outlived two generations of Nintendo consoles. lmao
PS3 sucks
+Max The Great Whatever helps you sleep at night, Max.
Nirvana Paradox every time I played one, which was like 3 times, the console had to update, which did basically nothing. No one had one and besides like uncharted, there was like no good games that you couldn't get on Xbox 360.
Nirvana Paradox - And yet, it was 3rd place behind its two other competitors. Whoa! Dream big! 😂😂
This is a good video, the last time Colin made an editorial that doomed Nintendo, 3DS ended up outselling its competition 5 to 1.
No offense
Switch will end up over 50 million units sold by the end of 2019. Colin was wrong.
This wouldn't be contradictory because people change opinions.
Yeah but he feels the need to get one so he can talk about the games, I would imagine.
My favourite part of this vid is Colin talking about how the original Xbox had better online than Switch, lol
We are now at 52 million units sold under 3 years time. Colin was wrong.
The Switch has outsold the Wii.
Toosimoo 100percent agree I think I heard Greg say that Gravity Rush 2 is just more Gravity Rush in about 5 different videos.
"The Playstation Vita is set to succeed" - Colin Moriarty 2011
You make some good points, but a lot of them have been proven wrong with incoming information. I'd suggest deleting this mostly-outdated video.
Pat Dorsman xenoblade, fire emblem, splatoon, Pokemon? Ok
Fire emblem is 2018. As for the others those just arent really my thing. Im just speaking personally I will be using this thing for classic exclusives IPs. Not really a Splatoon guy nor pokemon. I am a mario, zelda, metroid, smash guy
Pat Dorsman ahh I see
Smash will come, eventually.
Luckily, most of them are joining the Switch (and I can take it on the go, that's amazing to me).
man, Colin absolutely was wrong. Did he admit it? Will he admit it?
I know this comment is a year old but long story short he basically tip toed around the issue and uses mental gymnastics to explain how he was right
You did a great job of detailing why this company has been failing in the console market for many years.
To quote our new president: "Wrong."
Switch is gonna be my indie machine for sure. It's like a Vita 2.0 that runs better and can double as a home console.
i will like to see the "colín was wrong" two years from now ;)
We might get it but Colin is talking of what nintendo showed and presented now. Maybe they get back on track in a year or two who knows but he is "right" about his current statements if you watched the presentation.
The preorders already show Colin was wrong sold out everywhere amassing to half a million sales at GAMESTOP ALONE not to mention it is popular in Japan with preorders opening tomorrow people WANT this thing biased channels and news sites will try to mislead you
Drake Bro no its not wait for sales numbers what new console doesn't sell out now. same thing happen to the wii u heck even the nes & ammibos & those two were bc of force scarcity

so very many of the games are just ports of older games.. games that if you wanted them, they'd be cheaper and you probably already have them..
also, if you mean "online functionality" as in "their paid service" that's also been covered. it'll have WiFi capabilities.
+TheKiroshi You didn't need to destroy him that badly!
90 percent of those games are trash or are years old with superiors versions on any other platform that game would be available on. Try again
Most of those games are at least 3 years old and on other consoles. Once again Nintendo is many steps behind.
I have been waiting for this.
Not this time Nintendo... not this time.
It in fact was this time.
Actually Xbox Live lets you keep your games even if you're not a gold member and you can share them with anyone on you're home console.
not xbox one games, only 360 games
hmm I didn't know that. Xbox made it seem like it was all games.
they will say anything to sell their box, it is up to the consumers to cross check
just go to their youtube channel. They proudly proclaim it as 'best selling console in America', you would believe it was best selling since launch, right?... NO! only for 3 months last year when PS4 sales slowed down and gamers were waiting for the more powerful PS4 PRO lol.
Xbox Games with Gold has been excellent for the last 2 years.
It's funny to watch this almost a year later lol
Try almost 3 years later.
3 years and 53 million consoles later...LOL "Vita is set to succeed" part 2
You know, if people stopped buying Nintendo products. They would stop being stubborn with things like proper voice chat, 3rd party, paid online incentives, accessory prices, digital store prices, digital store library, and listening to their fans.
The video has aged badly. Switch will most likely end as the most sold console ever. But... even back than this video seemed not to be made on a basis of facts but for sensationalism.
“The most sold console ever” Mmm thats a bit much
@@lordvelvetice It does stand a chance to outsell the PS4 lifetime.
@@lordvelvetice nah it Will
I think this'd be better if he slowed down and paced his speech a little bit.
Dan K I get where you are coming but I like the way it is quick and it gives you all the info
People that think they are professional want their audience to think they know exactly what they are talking about, so they dont hesitate to boost confidence in what they are saying. If he would slow down or hesitate his Nintendo hating audience would see he doubts something.
Grand Gross It's not about being intellectually slow. I'm an intelligent individual and I found his quick speech needlessly distracting.
So many great comments praising Colin for his powerful insight. Fanboys and pitchforks.
Colin was wrong .
Colin was not right
Sweet production Colin - you really sanded down the edges on this show. Thank You for listening and I think this format will be a factor in allowing the KF team to agree for you to move back home to Long Island! :)
Look where the Switch is now. Lol
and now look where the switch is lol. a few good exclusives, mario, zelda and a bunch of shitty ports, doom, skyrim Nintendo should stop trying to sell counsels and just be a publisher.
@@aarondavid826 you need help if you think that
@@aarondavid826 Um, VEEEERY bad idea.
The few times Nintendo has published games for other platforms, they ended up being so bad you'd WISH that they're kept with their own hardware in their tamed, less cash grab-happy form

How we feeling about this in 2024?
