The atmospheric keyboards, the thundering drums, the pulsating bass, the soul-wrenching guitar solo, the angelic backup voices, the consciousness pricking lyrics--I could go on and on, but it all boils down to the song being PERFECTION!
my big bro and his fiancee have seen them 7 times in Copenhagen through the years, always smuggled some fun tobacco with them and shared... they never left without tears from the stadium!
Yes they the 3 Backing singers Margaret Taylor, Durga McBroom, Rachel Fury were the best ever heard especially when Margaret hit her high note. Still get chills to this day. 36 years later.
Believe this or not there are people out there purporting to be Pink Floyd fans that believe that anything the band produced after Roger Walters left is not worth listening to. All of the band members added much but all of the truly awesome stuff comes from David Gilmour. Absolutely no one writes, arranges, and performs guitar solos like David Gilmour. It is ALWAYS his guitar that sends shivers down one's spine while plucking whole chunks out of one's deepest emotions.
I think my friend that David Gilmore proved that pink Floyd is capable to write masterpiece without Roger waters... Many lyrics from back then, when Rodger waters is in the group they come from Gilmore and his wife, but that few people know.
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.
If you like David Gilmour's guitar solos, listen to "Sorrow" from the Pulse concert. It's phenomenal and it's a pleasure not only for the ears but also the eyes!
Yes, that's an out of body experience.. Sorrow and Comfortably numb from the 1994 "Pulse" tour... a must for all PF fans and those seeking to know what they're all about.
Totally magical. Pink Floyd are a gift to humanity from the universe. They signify the special human nature that makes us love life at it's essential core. Because their music moves us as it does, it brings out all our spiritual divinity. They are the catalyst to bringing out the purity of spirit that we all have.
Musical masters (such as Pink Floyd, Dire Straights etc) have a way of taking you along with them with their mesmerising musical journey to the end where they gently land you at an end place where you then catch your breath and the only thing you can think to say is, WOW. What a trip. Thank you for your brilliance.
Bit late to the party but ….wow, Just wow!! Love Pink Floyd and I’ve listened to this dozens of times over the years but this video brought tears to my eyes. The lyrics really resonated with me in these times when taking collective responsibility is more needed than ever!
I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971 and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times. Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.
First layer goosebumps start at 4:48, 2nd layer goosebumps at 6:05, 3rd layer at 6:50 transition, then total goosebump outbreak at 9:17 with back up singer belting it wide open.
Been playing Pink floyd music my whole life (21 years). This is one of the best songs to play on guitar and in a band, the feeling and sound Gilmour puts into this is inspirational to say the least. Great video, will be watching more! :)
this solo just pushes your soul out of your body and you briefly see the past, present and future of the Universe, but when both halves are joined back together, you'll have no memory of it, but the feeling that something extraordinary just happened to you remains.
My all-time favourite musicians. Have the t-shirt, the album's, the memories. Only one other musician sang through his guitar. Prince. Rip Syd Richard, Prince ❤
I notice with Pink Floyd, their songs have chapters within their songs that progress as the song goes on. Its like the guitar is telling a story. You just dont get that vibe with other bands. And thats why they are my #1 fav band of all time
While I love the quality of the singing and the DGs guitar work, I think a shout out needs to go to Nick and Rick because without their contribution it would only be great rather than phenomenal. Also, the lyrics never seem to get mentioned - absolutely beautiful and just as relevant today as when they were written.
The only being who can create that is " The Most High." Whether one acknowleges Him or not, we get to enjoy His Creativity. We were sooo blessed to live and listen to Pink Floyd with our family, friends, our generation. Go Gen X. Excellent reaction.
Its a shame that the new generation might never feel this live. Gilmour used to saunter out in pinstripe suits and tennis shoes and basically solo for 3 hours straight at volumes that rattled your head and made your spine shiver. It was an amazing period the late 80s...
Hiya hun, listen to Sorrow from the live Pulse concert 1994 it's 10 minutes long and the solo lasts 6/7 minutes of it and the visuals are incredible, l was lucky enough to be there that night, still sends shivers down my mind and soul 🙏 Thank Heavens for Pink Floyd, the GREATEST BAND EVER
Yes David was awesome in this song, i remember back in 1988 seeing this was truly amazing the sound was otherworldly especially for the 3 Backing singers Margaret Taylor, Durga McBroom, Rachel Fury Margaret nails the highest note I’ve ever heard amazing.
Now _that_ is a guitar solo! Personally, I think God inspired them to write and perform this song. It is _the_ great unknown Pink Floyd masterpiece and their most meaningful. "Love your neighbour as yourself." This concert was filmed in the old 4x3 aspect ratio in use in the 1980s but thankfully it was _filmed!_ That meant they could successfully crop it to 16x9 for high definition purposes and Blu-ray use by upscaling it to 4k and then bringing it back down to 1920x1080 while maintaining the highest video quality possible. They remastered the audio as well. This is the finest example of Pink Floyd in their prime that we will ever have. 🎸💘👍😎🎸
I dare you to walk down the street with your headphones on and listen to this solo without playing air guitar. You will have a far off glint in your eye and a smile on your face and feel that there is no one else around you. They may think your weird but who cares. I agree you could play this solo forever and you will never get sick of it. It is so uplifting and positive.
I just love how David can pick up his guitar and give exactly what is needed right where it belongs. No shredding, no jumping around, standing in place and giving everything needed and the song blossoms.
Yes, exactly so. I would add Mark Knopfler and Emppu Vuorinen of Nightwish to that list as well. They never ham it up and they serve the music. It's not a stunt for them - they're telling a story.
I think you are thinking I think you were thinking of the guitar solo in ‘Comfortably Numb’ from the same concert. Breathtaking. This song is gorgeous for the voices. Plus the visuals for which Pink Floyd is renowned.
Favorite Pink Floyd songs." Sorrow ", "On the Turning Away ", "High Hopes" , and my all time favorite, "Coming Back to Life ". Nice heartfelt reaction. Peace and love from Pennsylvania USA.
I believe this is from The delicate sounds of thunder show. I had this on VHS back in the day and wore the tape out! It's an incredible show, start to finish!
Hey There RLB This was a wonderful reaction to share with all of us out here! Perfectly You! I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well, but by all appearances you're on the mend, so just be a little patient with yourself and all will be well. Regarding your reaction: It looked like this song, at this time did your Soul some good! At times it almost looked like your "Batteries" were being charged, right then and there. Doctor Shine here: I'm going to prescribe a minimum of 2 hours of Pink Floyd while you are lounging in bed, undisturbed and right before Sleep. Then, call me in the Morning. (you looked so Happy while reacting to this song) Be better real soon and until our paths cross again... Keep Smiling...
Gilmore's solo here is about the best thing I have ever heard. Those three ladies singing backup tho..they just rock my world. Stole the show. Loved your reaction, btw.
my cousin alejandro(rip)show me pink floyd with that song ,and one year later i have the oportunity to see them in mexico city, that was my first concert
I was at the PULSE concert - Earl's Court, London, 1994 ... I was about 10 rows back from the stage & right in front of David Gilmore ... AWSOME ... You should listen to the complete PULSE concert, especially if you like David's solo's ....
My favorite reactor and my favorite band. Great way to start my day. It is a good Gilmour solo nowhere near Comfortably Numb though.(try this same concert version PULSE) Can't wait for your next reaction. Glad you did the live version Your Biggest Fan
I saw that live, that very tour in 1989, Oakland Stadium, California. Best concert I've ever been to, and I saw the Division Bell tour in that same Stadium in '94.
David Gilmore is just brilliant. I've been to the rock and roll hall of fame. Most bands have a section in the hall. Pink floyd has an entire room! Deservedly!
I've got the live recording of Earl's Court. The plane going across the crowd is fucking epic. Never seen a video of it and probably never will. I'm blessed
OMG ! Great reaction kate ( it's your girl ). I love ❤ your reactions to Pink Floyd music I'm a huge Floyd fan and David Gilmour fan basically anything they do is of the highest quality. They are in a league of there own. I've been caught out so many 5ime with sometimes a new song or a song I a.ready know and I end up chocked up or even fighting back tears or just letting them flow. What a journey, what a rush...... please please 🙏 for me react to or just play it for yourself the song " Mother ". It's an earlier song when Roger was still in the band. 2 versions 1 recorded 1 live both fantastic the live version has a longer 🎸 solo by David in the middle 😀 this song 🎵 makes me happy but I still cry I do t know why. Great channel x
David Gilmour can do more with one note, than other guitarists can do in a whole stanza. My favorite guitar player ever, and I play guitar. Back in the 60’s in London people wrote “Clapton is God” all over the place. Maybe he was at the time, but not anymore. DG is the “Guitar God”!
Got lucky here, this was 1988 at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island New York just a few miles outside of NYC itself, 22nd row, a bit to the right of the stage, I don't think I've ever seen so many people so joyous at once, the entire place was shaking and the music just went right through you, David Gilmour can wring more emotion out of one note than most players can get out of an entire album, he's not the fastest or flashiest but he IS the master of emotional playing.
In David Gilmour's "In Any Tongue" the ending solo is the first time I ever heard a guitar scream in pain then cry. It's at the 5 minute mark. The song is an anti-war song. The official video is best. I've seen several live performances of that song and he never quite gets the same emotions out of the guitar.
@James Anders - I love “In Any Tongue” and the entire “Rattle that Lock” album! It’s just brilliant. Start to finish. I completely agree about the guitar solo on In Any Tongue! Have a Merry Christmas!🎄
While i agree this is a good solo, nothing compares to the second solo from comfortably numb at the PULSE concert. i flew from Australia just for that concert. Dave Gilmour can make the guitar sing, cry and talk all at the same time.
I couldn`t agree more. But if you`re interested, also check out "Eye in the sky " From The Alan Parsons Project. Alan Parson was the one that produced Dark side of the moon , for Pink Floyd. I have PF first and APP second. After that it`s a battle between Roger Waters ,Queen and Dire Straits. Hav a lovely Christmas .
I do like this solo but his best ever..no. Time & Comfortably Numb are my two favorite. Anyway you look at it, David’s playing puts more soul into your soul!😎
Gilmour conveys more emotion in a single note than most guitarists do in a whole career. That dude is unbelievable.
Beautiful song; beautiful message. R.I.P. Rick Wright. Love Pink Floyd.
Amen 🙏
the backing girls singing this own this song.
Yes they the 3 Backing singers Margaret Taylor, Durga McBroom, Rachel Fury were the best ever heard especially when Margaret hit her high note. Still get chills to this day. 36 years later.
A music phenomenon, the best guitarist in the world. Pink Floyd is unique, there won't be another Pink Floyd ever again.

Division Bell is my favourite album
Wow! Finally! Someone else gets it 👍🏻 soooo tired of Rogers jock sniffers 🙄
I think Pink Floyd has been going downhill ever since Syd Barrett was kicked out of the band.
@@briantjepkema7758 that's got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard...

Universal Amphitheater, I was at that gig.
I know quite a few thousand guys who had loved to be in your shoes... Im certainly at top of the list. He is and always will be my biggest hero.
Congratulations to everyone who listened to this…..you witnessed a masterpiece
It's as if David has his guitar plugged directly into our cerebral cortex
Comfortably numb from the Pulse concert is in my opinion the best live solo I have ever heard.
Anything by Mark Knopfler....
That is superb guitar playing but in my opinion this is David's best solo - ever. As a guitar player if I could play this like him I would die happy 🙏
I think the one from Delicate sound of Thunder is better.
@@MrBoombast64 DSOT is just a little better, making it the best.
Agree, this is the third best solo ever!!!
I’m forever thankful I got to exist on this world at the same time as Pink Floyd.
Me too, me too and so many others and with gen x.
If you like David Gilmour's guitar solos, listen to "Sorrow" from the Pulse concert. It's phenomenal and it's a pleasure not only for the ears but also the eyes!
And also „ comfortably numb“& „ High Hopes“
Yes, that's an out of body experience.. Sorrow and Comfortably numb from the 1994 "Pulse" tour... a must for all PF fans and those seeking to know what they're all about.
Absolutely!
Also One Of These Days from the Pulse Concert
Who doesn't love a David Gilmour solo?
That just transcends music. It’s simply Pink Floyd.
You just don't get it mate
All budding guitarists want a guitar for Christmas but the fact is every guitar wants a Dave gilmour for Christmas
Wonderful!!!!!!
i concur.
👍👍

Such powerful lyrics and a bleeding guitar. Makes me weep every time I hear it.
Ditto!
One of only a handful of rock tunes that can bring tears to my eyes... just beautiful souls playing magnificent music

One of my all time favorites!!
It was a treat to see this one live in 1994 -- I didn't expect it in the setlist, at all.
this solo just pushes your soul out of your body and you briefly see the past, present and future of the Universe, but when both halves are joined back together, you'll have no memory of it, but the feeling that something extraordinary just happened to you remains.
My all-time favourite musicians. Have the t-shirt, the album's, the memories. Only one other musician sang through his guitar. Prince. Rip Syd Richard, Prince ❤
Incredible, emotional, killer David Gilmour solo (as usual) - and those 3 ladies singing background during the solo were phenomenal
I notice with Pink Floyd, their songs have chapters within their songs that progress as the song goes on. Its like the guitar is telling a story. You just dont get that vibe with other bands. And thats why they are my #1 fav band of all time
Bob seger and pink floyd are the best at taking you on a journey through their songs
Pink Floyd is an unprecedented sociological and musical event.

or like me. I´m now 52 years old but a late fan of Pink Floyd. And that is what I regret in my life that I´ve never seen them live.
Absolutely,! experiencing that live wall of sound and visuals, the almost sensory overload was nothing short of spiritual (for me).

Their best song with comfortably numb and lost for words coming pretty close
This beautiful song can't be missed on the Pink Floyd Show 👏🇧🇷 I liked the damage that was done in Venice, with the power of Sound 😁
great song great solo by a great guitarist...i hoped by neighbours enjoyed it aswell
OH BOY, haven't listened to that for over 20 years, so glad you reacted to this, well done....
You should put it in your rotation of songs. It is one of the greatest ever.
The Christmassey feeling is definitely joy and happy to be in the moment I believe
Taking off my hat. Best I've heard.
Never heard a guitar wail with such intense sorrow..🥺
David Gilmour doesn't use a guitar amp.. he plugs in his guitar straight to your soul..
You got that spot on, David seems to know exactly where you want it to go next, and he takes you there, it's on another level...
I think you are thinking I think you were thinking of the guitar solo in ‘Comfortably Numb’ from the same concert. Breathtaking. This song is gorgeous for the voices. Plus the visuals for which Pink Floyd is renowned.

Glad you did the live version

I disagree. This is just as great and the video far surpasses that on Pulse. Pulse is obviously a great concert but this one surpasses it. 😎
This was an excellent choice. imo. This is the best version ever of the song.
I saw that live, that very tour in 1989, Oakland Stadium, California. Best concert I've ever been to, and I saw the Division Bell tour in that same Stadium in '94.
I was in Birmingham Alabama for this! What an experience! Many moons ago. Buy the Pulse Recording.
Changing attitudes on mental health, the power of this song
You're absolutely right. You really know real music!
Pink Floyd is like having a good cup of tea.
Gilmours guitar pleads in anguish,he is a true master of his craft
My favorite song ever. Period.
You definitely get Pink Floyd thank. you
David Gilmore is just brilliant. I've been to the rock and roll hall of fame. Most bands have a section in the hall. Pink floyd has an entire room! Deservedly!
Pink Floyd is another level on the music realm!
