I'm just grateful Waters conceived the album, then wrote all the lyrics for all 26 songs, the music for 23 on his own and co-wrote 3 songs with Gilmore and 1 with Bob Ezrin. Floyd weren't the same after he departed.
I was in Munich the tour before...even the first explosion and drum hit at the beginning of the song made my Lemonade splash...after the concert we wondered why everyone looked at us like we we were insane until we realised that we where shouting...but my ears recovered eventually...
Pink Floyd the most famous people you've never seen no interviews no media no album has a pic of them, most albums don't have there name or album name on, yet you know it, this concept is over 30yrs old & is still unsuroassed light show.
I was at this concert at Earls Court, I still remember heading home with a bunch of friends, noone said a word for hours. First thing I remember hearing was "what the fuck did we just see" :) Great to see others enjoying as much as we did :)
LOL, I saw "Delicate Sound of Thunder" at the Nassau Coliseum in 1987 when they recorded the concert film and we had a similar experience! It was a smaller stage show than Pulse but it was also 7 years earlier! There were beds and pigs flying around, they had surround sound, fogs, lasers, crazy spider lights coming out of the floor, the back up singers could've been their own band! It was like being at Devil's Tower when the aliens landed in Close Encounters of The Third Kind!
I can totally relate. We did the same thing when we saw it in our city. I believe I've seen all but one of their tours. And while they were all good, the Pulse show did seem like some kind of pinnacle for showmanship. Roger Waters shows often feel very similar. The audio and visuals are often mesmerizing with Floyd's history. That big moving light ring over the Pulse stage created a lot of very cool effects, especially if you were up front and sort of 'under it.'
I can well believe that. I caught this concert by pure chance on late-night TV and just couldn't turn it off (even though I had work in the morning). The lightshow and the music just mesmerised me and I became a diehard Pink Floyd fan overnight.
They never had such a good time on stage when Roger was still in the band - ever since Guy Pratt took his place (and they added touring members Gary Wallis on percussion and John Carin on second keys to better replicate their studio sound), they really became more crowd friendly. Sadly, only two tours with this lineup. There will never be another band like this - thank God we have them preserved on videos like this so future generations can have the experience of seeing them in their glory.
For me, THIS IS THE BEST LIVE ALBUM EVER! And ever will be! I have so many memories around this music, great emotions but also great losses. Pure joy and deep grief united. By the way Guy Pratt (the bassist an son in law of Richard Wright - RIP) is a highly underrated bassist and singer!
Perhaps the only album out there that is at the same level as "Pulse" probably might be Kiss' ALIVE from 1975, which actually started the trend of recording live concerts. Queen's Live concert at Wembley is also there.
This is just an amazing concert performance. I am a huge David Gilmour fan, and I love the light show and fireworks. The whole Pulse concert is amazing. I recommend checking out the song 'Sorrow' from the Pulse concert, as well.
Saw the Pulse concert live in the audience & nothing has come close in experience of sound & sight. Simply masterful in every way possible to create the perfect Rock concert 👌
Pink is one of the best rock bands ever. EVER!!!! The audience knows what's coming. Excitement time!!!! David is such a wonderful guitarist......... This bands shows are off the charts!!! How about those lights???? RUN, RUN!!!! I enjoy the line, "you better park out of sight, cause if they catch you in the backseat trying to pick her locks, they're going to spend home to mother in a cardboard box. Heavy, but so Pink!!!!! I enjoy you twos channel, thanks.
The original vocals are David Gilmour and Roger Waters, this is Guy Pratt on the bass (no Waters) when I saw Pink Floyd on 1994 Guy Pratt uses a t shirt that says: Im Not Roger Waters!!! jajaja
This song immediately followed Comfortably Numb. Can you just imagine that epic Guitar Solo David did on Numb, being followed by this, and they both along with Wish You Were There, were the Encore. The entire concert was a masterwork! Try from the same concert Sorrow, also there is an entire performance of Dark Side Of The Moon from this same concert! That should be what you should watch. Each song in order. You guys Rock!! Keep on reacting to Pink Floyd! So many adventures to experience!
I saw them live in 1987, the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. My mom gave me that for my sixteenth birthday, tickets to that show. Nothing has ever come close to that experience before or since. Thank you for this!!
I saw them also 1987 in Cologne and Pink Floyd had to act after a tangible scandal during the tour. What had happened? In this largely computer-controlled light show, it is extremely important that the right lights are used at the right time when the group kicks in. That's why Pink Floyd used a special electronic device to correct misplayed notes and make sure the cues were correct before they came out of the speakers. They could have played "Oh Christmas Tree" entirely on stage, and out of the PA would have come "Wish you were here," for example. With this complex sound, the second guitar or certain percussion effects were played by the keyboard player, which sometimes didn't really work, and that's why today there are two drummers and two guitarists on stage.
Did you see the stack of rotating speakers creating a mesmerizing sound.. only Pinki Floyd could use it properly LOL 😆 one of the greatest live performances of all time imo

The Wall was next level. They project a Wall onto the wall at some point and it looks like the Bricks are flying away and you are looking and your brain s going "what the f*"k. and it takes a good two minutes to work out it's a video and the sound and musicianship is unbelievable. Don't discount a chance to see Roger, he is an artistic genius. I was in the Gilmour camp, but for a show, Roger is better.
Hi guys, in the studio version, there’s only Roger Waters singing but they used to share the vocal parts between him and David, after Roger left, Guy Pratt took over his parts and sang along with David.
It doesn't get any more epic than that! And a mahoosive shout out to the percussionist, Gary Wallis, who brought the end of this masterpiece to a thundering finale!! Gary went on to become Drummer and Musical Director for Il Divo, Mike and the Mechanics, but, has been Drummer/MD for Sir Tom Jones for almost the last 30 years....so, David Gilmour didn't just take any session musician on, he clearly saw the talent!!
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
I've been a Pink Floyd fan for a long time and if I could go back in time to attend just one concert it would be this one. I've watched the video many times and it is always brilliant.
Wow! One thing that i love about this song, Run Like Hell, is that it really does sound like people are running. That's always fascinated me. Beside the fact that it's an absolutely beautiful piece of music by Pink Floyd. ❤
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 27 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David and he gave us both a signed album. We chatted for 22 minutes while he signed others albums. 35 lucky people won tickets. It was AWESOME show.
For Pink Floyd live are like no other, one is never enough. On this set They had two drummers with sets, 2 keys men, 3 guitarists and backing singers to die for. They were the pre emminant live tour of the 90s. And in some respects were able to take their studio work and better it Live!! fabulous reaction loved it. If you like instrument sound dynamics try One Of These Days from same Pulse show that closed the first half, equally explosive!
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.
First time I lied to my parents I said I was going to a skating party, my friends older bro took us to our first Pink Floyd concert! I took my oldest son for his 11th birthday to see Pink Floyd! Hooked for life!
What a classic !! The Wall my Dad introduced me to Pink Floyd when I was quire young lol. and I Love the classic albuns Darkside if the moin my fave. Animals is very underrated Gilmour album. The late 1968 acid tripping Syd Barrett years Flioyd is a lot different but is good. I miss ya dad.,💜
Still have my ticket stub from this Tour... #1) I love my instrument too and I also have a Guitar I'm quite fond of :-) #2) Dude, don't ever play Poker for money, lol your grin (both of you) are infectious). #3) Towards the end when it get's bright, it made your eyes tear up, it was THAT bright. Note: They are using 1 of 3 stages that they toured with, it took 3 days to set up a stage up and 2 days to dismantle, so one night when they are playing on one stage, there is a stage being torn down in one town, while in another town another stage is being built! It was a Monster Tour. Am Subscribed...
Such a perfect amazing show. There is no one like David Gilmour and this group & there never will be again. The lighting was spectacular & revolutionary for the time and still stands up as one of the most amazing displays ever, even with all the leaps in technology that have happened since this came out in 1995. I laugh when I think about people going out into the parking lot afterward and they can't see a thing in the dark because of the afterimages on their retinas from that blinding finale. I got the "Pulse" DVD as soon as it came out. I have seen it many, many, many times in the 25 years since. It never gets old. There are some differences in this restored version, such as the explosions and little bits of extra music in several spots. That made me happy. )) It is one of my life's biggest regrets that I did not take a chance to go to one of their concerts on this tour. Can you imagine what that must have been like? If you ever get a chance to see the cover band Brit Floyd in concert, they are the next best thing to the real thing. They even use the same round lighting eye and videos & animation that Floyd used in this show.
Keep in mind , on top of them sounding excellent live, there’re stage and lighting is incredible and especially for back in 1994 at that time when this was recorded!! I was making a delivery to Bobby Dodd Stadium on the Georgia Tech campus here in Atlanta Georgia and the building I delivered to was right behind the stage and I remember thinking how massive that stage was I could only see it from behind but I of went for a short walk around one side of the stadium all the vendors was there like myself and it was just a massive awesome looking set up and that was only in the daytime when I saw it . I would’ve loved to have been to that concert.
I was there, it was life changing, when it finished you just knew it would never be surpassed and here we are almost 30 years later and it's still the greatest concert I ever went to 🙂
Funny you mention the drummer (Nick Mason) and his kit at the end. They also had a percussionist (Gary Wallace) on stage as well. This particular song, doesn't showcase Wallace as well. Sneak a peek at "Learning to Fly" and you'll see what he is doing in a cage of drums and other instruments.
I am Floyd fan since 1976 and I saw this concert in 1994 in Berlin it was absolutely amazing In my opinion PF is one of the greatest Group for all time 🤘🤘
At the very end when the ring exploded it was more like a bomb than a firework. The whole building shook for several seconds. How they ever got it past the health & safety officer I can't imagine. I can only assume he was chained up in the basement somewhere! This remains the greatest concert I've ever been to.
In May of 1994, I was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd at Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts during their Division Bell tour. The sound, lights and videos on their screen were amazing. It was lightly drizzling that evening but nobody cared. The laser lights were enhanced by the mist and the quadraphonic sound in that stadium was absolutely mind blowing. They ended the show with Run Like Hell.
I've not checked the comments to see if anyone has made mention of just how bright that stage production is for Run Like Hell. I caught this tour on the US leg as well as a couple of David Gilmour solo shows where he plays Run Like Hell and the lights during this song are unbelievably blinding. The pyro and explosions made it feel like an artillery barrage was coming down all around the crowd. I've noticed at the past two David Gilmour tours that the band wears sunglasses while performing Run Like Hell. I don't know if its just a part of the performance or do they wear the sunglasses due to the lights. I'd be curious to know if anyone does know.
The backing singers are brilliant. They are like human metronomes throughout the concert. And in the Great Gig on the Sky they get to star, each if them.
On the studio album, it's only Roger singing. Live, it alternates back and forth. The best version is from "Is There Anybody Out There?" live album because it sounds like David and Roger literally shouting at each other.
Saw Pink Floyd at Budakan Grand Hall in Tokyo, Japan in 1988. It was their "Momentary Lapse of Reason" Tour. I was in the Air Force at the time. 1st and only concert I had ever been to totally sober (and I've been to many) and it was the greatest concert ever! Both sound and visual production was out of this world. Absolutely love them!!
I actually attended this show in San Antonio and it WAS epic. What totally blew me away was the enormity of the stage. When you watch it during a pullback shot, look at how tiny the performers look in comparison. Can you imagine being a roadie and having to assemble and tear down that stage every week? They had something like twelve trailers to carry it all. I still have my concert program and it's a night I'll never forget.
This is friggin EPIC!!! I dare anyone to say that 60's/70's bands like Pink Floyd performing like this have no equal, especially in today's music world.
The album version is just one vocalist. Live from the 90's in the Pulse tour they used two. And also, now you see why this was the finale right after Comfortably Numb.
They had the first quadrophonic sound system at their concert 1'st time I saw them in 1970. WAY ahead of their time. So intense I saw a guy do a head dive into the orchestra pit at the Auditorium theater in the Chi. Got called a faggot by all the mooks in my hood because I went to see a band with the name pink in it! Differant world, differant attitudes.2 years later they ALL went to see them the next time they came to town.🤠
The original bass player and lead vocalist on 'The Wall' was Roger Waters but he left the band in the mid 80's, he had a pretty distinct voice so it's always a bit strange to hear these songs without him. :)
you are wrong....syd was lead vocal then Dave Gilmour, waters infact sang very few lead vocals...on DSTM waters had lead on Brain Damage and Eclipse......Gilmore did the rest with waters a backing apart from obviously GGITS.......only the Wall has waters doing more lead vocals.
I'd say that the only person who ever was a "lead" vocalist in Floyd was Syd, after he left its always pretty much been split 50/50 between Roger and David.
I can't get enough of that concert video. I was at that tour when it rolled through Philly, selling out Veterans Stadium for 3 consecutive nights in 1994. I've been to tons of shows since then and have yet to see a better light show or experience a better concert.
Truly the MASTERS of SOUND. Five of us were in Seattle in 1980? when Floyd was playing in two days. Three stayed back for the concert and two of us went home. It is still the greatest mistake I've ever made. Pink Floyd is more than just instruments and lyrics, they are the destination.
They actually had 2 drummers for this tour. (drummer and percussionist). It was the best concert I have ever gone to BY FAR and I have seen many over my 55 years. The video is great but it does the show no justice. I saw this tour in Foxborough Ma. Sullivan stadium (now Gillette stadium). The stage was so big it went half way up into the seating area on both sides . They also had a crane outside the stadium which a flaming plane came in and crashed next to the stage. You must watch the whole Pulse dvd. It is amazing . Rock On. You guys are great!
In the original David Gilmour and Roger Waters did the singing. You need to find the video from The Wall of the band in the late 70s or early 80s and see Waters and Gilmour performing this. Waters does a neat little "freak out" intro of the song.
It doesn’t get any better in live performances. I was fortunate enough to see a show on this tour back in 1994. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen.
Note that the basic guitar riff is from "Another Brick in the Wall". This interweaves as a basic motif with various songs on the entire album The Wall ...
That explosion, at the end, actually did shake the whole building. The best gig I ever saw by a country mile.
I'm just grateful Waters conceived the album, then wrote all the lyrics for all 26 songs, the music for 23 on his own and co-wrote 3 songs with Gilmore and 1 with Bob Ezrin. Floyd weren't the same after he departed.

First time I lied to my parents I said I was going to a skating party, my friends older bro took us to our first Pink Floyd concert! I took my oldest son for his 11th birthday to see Pink Floyd! Hooked for life!
Saw the concert in Strasbourg, 1994. Simply unforgettable!
The perfect finale to a perfect concert!
That made me happy. ))
It is one of my life's biggest regrets that I did not take a chance to go to one of their concerts on this tour. Can you imagine what that must have been like?
If you ever get a chance to see the cover band Brit Floyd in concert, they are the next best thing to the real thing. They even use the same round lighting eye and videos & animation that Floyd used in this show.
actually turned out to be the best song maybe on that night, pulse concert was the best concert ever imo 🎸🎸🎸
I was there, it was life changing, when it finished you just knew it would never be surpassed and here we are almost 30 years later and it's still the greatest concert I ever went to 🙂
Run like hell amazing 👍👍
Funny you mention the drummer (Nick Mason) and his kit at the end. They also had a percussionist (Gary Wallace) on stage as well. This particular song, doesn't showcase Wallace as well. Sneak a peek at "Learning to Fly" and you'll see what he is doing in a cage of drums and other instruments.
i have the original dvd the people kept applauding none stop after they left the stage that they had to come back on stage and played 3 more songs
I am Floyd fan since 1976 and I saw this concert in 1994 in Berlin it was absolutely amazing In my opinion PF is one of the greatest Group for all time 🤘🤘
1994 Foxboro stadium. Best show I've ever seen in my life. They recorded it in London but played the same show the entire tour. It was amazing.
Pink Floyd always looks like they are having fun when they are on stage. Musicians doing what they love and having fun.
Seen Pink Floyd twice in concert....spent most of the time crying my eyes out, at how awesome an experience it was
I've not checked the comments to see if anyone has made mention of just how bright that stage production is for Run Like Hell.
And the best thing? NO CELL PHONES! Saw this show in Indianapolis and it blew my mind.
I was lucky enough to have been there that night.
One of the best experiences of my life.
I was in the second row from the stage.
And THATS how you end a show!:))
On the studio album, it's only Roger singing. Live, it alternates back and forth. The best version is from "Is There Anybody Out There?" live album because it sounds like David and Roger literally shouting at each other.
Was there live in 1994 Montreal Olympic Stadium ...there is nothing i have seen that comes close they were out of this world!
"One of these days" on the same concert is a blast it deserves a reaction.
A little known fact: "Pink Floyd" is actually Swahili for "masters of sound"! And don't forget light...
If you love the background singers, you should watch "the Great gig in the sky" from the same concert. The song focuses om them.
David and the gang had fun with this one. I did too. Never gets old.
This is friggin EPIC!!! I dare anyone to say that 60's/70's bands like Pink Floyd performing like this have no equal, especially in today's music world.
I was lucky to be at this London concert in 94 .
The album version is just one vocalist. Live from the 90's in the Pulse tour they used two. And also, now you see why this was the finale right after Comfortably Numb.
If a genie were to give me one wish... it'd be to go back in time and attend this concert!
I was there Earls Court London 25th Oct 1994, this finale was like WW3 Had broken out,
Whole show phenomenal, will never be bettered 👍♥️🇬🇧🇺🇸
They had the first quadrophonic sound system at their concert 1'st time I saw them in 1970. WAY ahead of their time. So intense I saw a guy do a head dive into the orchestra pit at the Auditorium theater in the Chi. Got called a faggot by all the mooks in my hood because I went to see a band with the name pink in it! Differant world, differant attitudes.2 years later they ALL went to see them the next time they came to town.🤠
You can't imagine them in concert.....🤯🤯🤯
i was travelling through the Czech republic and Hungary in the summer of 94 and I saw the Pulse show in the Strahov stadium in Prague...amazing !!
This is how you end a rock concert!
This is a fucking masterpiece
The Pulse concert is the benchmark for every concert before or since. This performance celebrates its 30th anniversary in October 2024.
The single greatest concert of my life!!!!
The band was named after two old blues musicians, PINK Anderson and FLOYD Council. The cerebral band of rock!
That base from Guy , amazing .
This was their encore during most of the pulse tour. Imagine trying to play another
Song after comfortably
Numb. They did!
Was lucky enough to be there that night. Absolutely amazing show
They actually had 2 drummers for this tour.
And here ends the lesson on how to finish a concert.
BTW, the David Gilmour in Pompeii 2016 version is pretty epic too.
If you don't know it, this is for you it's called Run Like Hell! Great reaction to a great performance
