Staedtler Colored Pencils Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 лип 2024
- Watch my review of the Staedtler 1270 colored pencils. These triangular pencils are the lowest grade of the Staedtler line and came with a zip case and Staedtler pencil sharpener which I also demonstrate. In the video I compare these against Crayola, Cra-Z-Art, Prismacolor Premiers and Faber-Castell Polychromos. These were purchased at my local Costco for about $10 for 2 sets.

I have the 48 set and they are really good. I enjoy using them as much as my prismas for sharp points and getting into tight spots better than soft core pencils. They are likely a synthetic polymer-wax base, and I think it's a great balance of firmness with smooth laydown. Thanks for the review.
I use the Ergo soft for the same reason. It keeps a great point and it does a great job getting rod of Prisma's wax bloom
Just got my staedlters today been using faber castel
Would you guys recommend me to buy Staedtler colour pencil as I am a Faber castle user. Please don't mind my spellings 😅
@@bryceshade.4683 Are they good?
@@fruityinkpad8268 they were lol I have moved on
I found out that these are wax based pencils. I have forgotten where I found this out unfortunately. It was a colored pencil forum
Thank you for doing this review. I just picked up the 48 pack I found on sale at my local art store. I love them. They are not as soft and creamy like my Prismacolor set so they don't smear and I don't have to sharpen as much. And yet they glide over the page not leaving etch marks like my lesser no name bargain brand. And also thank you for the tip about numbering them & creating a corasponding color chart since they have no name if I stop in the middle of a project I don't have to stress about which pencil I used I just remember the number. simple yet brilliant! you've helped to expand my coloring world and I am very excited and greatful that you took the time to make this video.
+Taylor Colonna, so glad this video helped you so much! Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching😊
Taylor Colonna same!
I colored more with these last night. I really like the way they sharpen up, but oh boy did I miss my Prismacolor pencils!
I have labeled my Startled Color pencils with washi tape also. The sharpener works great! Haven't started coloring yet. Just made a swatch to test them.
I miss going to Sam's club and didn't have a Costco back home I wish I had income coming in where I am now there both I would love to have a set like that
I love their higher end products except for no color names so I do what you did and number them. I often use them in combination with my Prismas and they work well with each other.
I absolutely love *adores* this set of steadtlers. They might not be all that great for coloring in a fancy art book. But I think they were created with school type or every day type of activities in mind, and the makers got it exactly right.
everytime saw a color pencil color so good really satisfied
I draw with Noris Club 144 and they're my favorites 😍
Interestingly Staedtler USA line seems to have a very streamlined selection compared to what they sell in Germany. I grew up with those and they were the Scholl Standart through high school with only Faber Castell as a parallel competitor for school standart , next came Stabilo. Since the 90 there are other brands as well. But in the USA they don't sell the whole assortments abd they don't sell all the really cute and good sets for school and art like they do in Germany. They also have everything in much different packages compared to there so even though some have the same numbers there is stuff they sell here that they don't sell there and vice versa.
Thank you for the review. To me, the lack of identification is a big deal. I prefer color names than numbers; names have recall value, not numbers. But it's good to know where this brand falls: a step-up from student grade, but not quite artist grade. Thank you for the comparison. I still might get a pack of these, if the occasion (Christmas sale?) arises.
I think that's a matter of taste tbh. I prefer numbers because every brand has their own idea of colour names and aside from having to remember occasionally kinda whacky names, sometimes the names will overlap but the colours themselves will be different. With numbers I can swatch em, and then refer to that for what I need. I also keep my swatches pretty tight, so I'd prefer not to have to write shiz like "cerulean nappy dream" under the colours or some crazy shit like that.
Can you do a skin color blend tutorial with ergo soft please and thank you for this it really helped 😊
I like the way they sharpen and the triangle shape. That's it though!
Good idea!! Thanks for sharing.
A year later and the hits keep coming! Question? I got a set after watching this vid about a month ago. I like the feel of the pencils in my hand, but I find them "hard" to color with. I have a 72 set of Sudee's (my affectionate name). Do you find the two similar? I found that I enjoy coloring with my Sudee's over my Prismacolor (if you can believe that) most of the time. But yes, this set is aggravating in that there is no color or other demarcation. I guess these guys are OK for budget pencils seeing as how I got them at your friendly Wally World. As I was reaching for the Staedtler's I about fell over because next to them was a small tin case of Prismacolor's! What is the world coming to? Ha!
I saw your thumbnail in a google search and had to come comment because I did a double-take. I have these, and also put yellow labels with numbers on mine 😂
I think there might be a smudge on the lense because it looked like the left side was more foggy than the other
I have labeled my Startled Color pencils with washi tape also. The sharpener works great!
+Kathy McConnell, yay! Sounds like you are having fun!
I have bought the triangles and the Norris club and took them both back. I found it hard to believe that Johanna Basford put her good name on these pencils. HOWEVER, I LOVE their fineliner pens and I don't have first hand account but I've HEARD that the Ergosoft pencils are really good! A really good quality budget pencil is the Faber Castell budget pencils. They lay down nicely and blend very well....and they don't break constantly. They're fairly vibrant too!
+Michele Johnson-Utter, thanks for your insights. I agree about the Staedtler pens...they are some of my favorites. I have a set of the ergosoft to review for my series. I am anxious to see how they do. I haven't tried the lower cost Faber Castell yet, thanks for the suggestion.
Michele Johnson-Utter I have a set of "Norris". I like them and can intersperse them with the Prismacolors. Like the Stadtlers, they have no color name or number on them. It never crossed my mind to number them myself. Forehead slap for me!😜
Great reviews
I bought 12 at wally world for 6 bucks and looove them. If they had a bigger color pallet I would use them all the time!
I have a set of 48 that I bought of walmart, I really like them, better than my prismacolor and crayola
I like my Staedtler Ergo Soft colerpencils. But recently I have experienced that the surface color of the pencils rub off on my fingers .Are there anyone else who have experienced the same thing?
My uncle bought me staedler watercolor pencils with 24 colors and i dont know how to use it, maybe this video can help, thanks
Great for high school/ middle school kids if your looking for cheap color pencils for Christmas present there are same as crayola in quality
What does the triangle on some of the mean and the paintbrush on others mean
Hi everyone,I was getting ready to do a color chart for these and started to do some research as it was bugging me not having exact names to the colors. I went on the website and found some!! yaaa!!! so here is the link to the site if you guys want to check it out....www.staedtler.us/en/products/colouring-painting-products/coloured-pencils/1270-triangular-colored-pencil/it appears that the colors are listed in the exact order they come in the 48ct packaged box...I do hope that this helps...it can be a bit tricky figuring out some of the colors especially if you've moved them around into a case or wrap...
I was disappointed in their website as well. When I received my set, I too looked for more info. I did a comparison as well and find some colors in this set better than Crayola and some not so much. Their orange and blue-greens are more bold. And they certainly sharpen better.
+RBdreamsART, sounds like we had a similar experience. Thanks for sharing.
I watched the video because I wanted to see what you went through because my set I had that was double sided were absolutely horrible quality very scratchy worse than crayola. Maybe I had a bad batch idk tbh.
I am so confused. Can Staedtler fineliners be used in coloring books? Do they bleed through? Are they markers or pens? Thanks. I don't know what to use in the tiny spaces in my coloring books. Just got the Prisma Premiers.Have a set of 40 generic gel pens.
+Kris Foley, small spaces can be tricky. Gel pens are great and I know the Staedtler fineliners are also popular. They are a felt tip marker/pen so they may bleed through.
I find the ergo soft are more vibrant, and blendable, than the staedtler and norris club
+felinefanatic1313, good to know. I hope I can try them someday soon.
Please review "maped" colouring pencils 😍😍😍
+cinderella princess, I don't think I have heard of those. I will look into them.
I ahve the 72 set
Its the ajit pai net neutrality tune in the begining.
I have a Staedtler Luna Colored Pencils, it is the 'expensive one' among the 3 brands I have, I love it, though recommend it to beginners like me. Will buy Crayola and Faber next but I don't really care about the brand I'll just by them if I can and just to color my coloring books. :D
+Camote Cute, so many fun kinds of art supplies in the world to try! I love coloring!
I agree.. I want to get my hands on even the cheapest ones, maybe bcos looking at colors and art supplies makes me happy.. I'm not even an artist but coloring taught me to look at the world differently and that even dull or dark colors made it more alive and happy.
Can u use vaseline with them?
+slowdiver7 yes!
Thats is original??
I have staedtlar Colored pencils
i have the staedtler 1270 48 pencils and they aren't marked either and the box has nothing other than they are made in Indonesia!!
+Lamont CA, interesting...do you like them?
Can you compare SiVO pencils to Staedler please?
+PeterHasPaintbrush, I will put it on the list! 😊
Coloring Pages Bliss Okay! Thanks a lot :0
PeterHasPaintbrush sivos are so beautiful and they color so wonderfully however they break SOOOOOO badly when you sharpen them. So when you buy them you need to buy about 5 or 6 packages so hopefully you'll get a "good" pencil in each color.
i found these in my local dollar store
They are wax basedKind regards.
Prisma color pencils are too expensive and I have to buy them online ..so I thought of buying staedtler.
you didn't mention that the wood comes from sustainably managed forests, that's very important!
it's cheaper than fabercastel :D
I really dislike them
Check your package/ tin. Not all of their pencils are made in Germany. Now some are made in China.
In general, most German companies like Staedtler have notoriously bad habits in where they often do not return emailed correspondences. Even when I write to them in German, they are still lazy and almost never reply.
In many cases, the only way to get their attention is to threaten them with a civil suit in a German court.
That are s suppleis for kids .
You don't press like a idiot when you draw whit, that the kids do that in scool.Sorry I don't won't be rude but my English is miserable
