I'd really appreciate you showing how you make and store your beans for the week. I'd like to get away from relying on canned beans all the time and save money! You are so smart to have figured out how to do the fresh then freezer meals as the week goes along. Thank Kiki!
I'm so grateful to have found your videos!! I've watched them all and I'm down about 10 lbs in only a few weeks! I have been vegan for 3 years but this program (starch solution) has been an absolute game changer for me plus I'm actually full after I eat!! I look forward to watching your videos so thanks to your husband for taking one for the team at the grocery store!! LOL
I really like the idea of eating out of the freezer. We have a stocked freezer but I dont really think to eat out of it when we run out of fresh produce and will go to the store again and I hate it! I use the freezer as a means for smoothies but this really broadened my thoughts. Thank you!
For years for produce bags I use mesh laundry bags(like you use for gentle washing clothes) the upside is they have a zipper on them, can go from grocery store to in fridge(great for loose items like fresh green beans etc) Upside is you can find them at many dollar stores in different sizes to fit your needs, affordable on your pocket book and wash up well.
Since this pandemic and people emptying the grocery store shelves, i started canning. We live 35 minutes away from the store, so i bought a pressure canner as well as a big stock pot and rack, for water bath canning. I have canned black beans and kidney beans, also navy bean soup and MANY other things. Love walking to the pantry and grabbing things off the shelf ❤ We also planted a 42' x 68' garden with: Beets Beans (burgundy and green) Peas Snow peas Swisschard Spinach Corn Potatoes Rutabaga Sweet peppers Tomatoes Lettuce Radishes Dill Butternut squash Zucchini Spaghetti squash 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Oh...and a little raised herb garden!!
Hi from Hawaii! Love all your videos and got your cookbook too. Can you do a budgeting video to help us with spending tips and tricks? Im also curious what amount of food do you eat off the homestead, and how much do you buy from the stores? What is a realistic amount of money to spend for 1 person or 2? Or what is your family's average monthly grocery bill? I like to shop at Costco and Whole Foods and Asian markets, but they are not much cheaper in Hawaii, as I live on Oahu. Thanks and aloha!
Thank you again KiKi for a truly helpful video...I too hate going to shop more than once a week so thank you for sharing how you manage that !!! You're beautiful and you and your family are contributing to the health of humanity and the planet !!! YOU ROCK !!!
naomi L adding no-beef or no-chicken bouillon to the cooking water helps too! I find that brown basmati rice is so much tastier than plain brown, as well
Thank you so much for not mentioning the pandemic. It is refreshing to watch normal videos. I love all your videos and try to watch as soon as they get released. Thanks from PA!!
T JT me too! I am sick of hearing about it. I make videos on here as well and now that I am at home more, I can make more videos. But, I am not mentioning the pandemic at all.
I have to say.... I really love your channel. You’re just so intelligent and authentic. I found your channel through High Carb Hannah and I’m hooked ever since. I LOVE your recipes and you are my new #1 WFPB channel.
HI Kiki, THANK YOU for always being so vulnerable and willing to educate us even about stretch marks! I live in Ontario Canada and our Walmarts here do not offer Great Value oil free frozen hashbrowns :( I am so disappointed because it would make life easier sometimes.
I'm glad I got used to eating frozen veg before this downturn. Makes it easy to reach in and grab a few handfuls of broccoli florets, or chopped kale to add to my 1 dish meals. I try to follow Dr. McDougall's The Maximum Weight Loss Plan so you inspire me. Thanks for posting.
Hi Kiki. I’m a new subscriber and have been really enjoying your content. I have two young children and would appreciate if you would do a video of what your kids eat to give me some hope that I can get my family on board with this lifestyle change.
Great video! I'm so glad I found this channel. Simple food :) Your videos are helping to keep me motivated and remind me how I'm supposed to be eating. Thank you!!
Very helpful to me in planning my shopping. Thank you! I live in a smaller town in Indiana and produce shopping can be challenging. There is no Whole Foods Market here. But I do the best I can.
Wow, great variety of produce. I'm in Florida - so funny about the starfruit - I'm not that fond of the fruit but had a tree in my yard that produced so much fruit I couldn't give enough away - it just wouldn't stop bearing fruit.
Cool 👍 U should try short grain brown rice. I tried to get keen on basmati but discovered short grain. It’s more expensive but so nutty and chewy . If u like wheat berries and barley, u will love it 😍 I use IP, 3 minutes on multi grain . Then leave it to naturally release and open after 30 minutes. It cooks in the steam. If it’s not done, just put the lid back on. Ratio of rice:water is 1cup :1.5 water respectively. Hope you try it .
So I found your channel earlier this week and have been binging on your videos!! Thank you for sharing your story and life with us!! I've lost about 25 lbs by switching to WFPB (I am a lifelong vegetarian). I have 15 lbs to go an this is very helpful and inspiring!! 😊👍🏽
KiKi. Do you have a video on all the things you keep in your kitchen (appliances, utensils bowls all that) that makes plant life/meal prep easy and functional
Love your videos! I always learn something. BTW pound a handful of cardamom pods and toss them into your brown rice and they give a lovely flavour. It can smell a bit like an old dishcloth otherwise.
How do you always stay on track? I do my produce grocery hauls and I end up throwing out some of it..especially the lettuce because I get tired of salad. I'd love to know how you get over the hump of just wanting a chocolate bar for dinner? I could come home from a long busy day at work and I just don't feel like a healthy meal. I never crave meat, but I'll just want a big plate of tater tots. Regular crispy tater tots with ketchup all over them. Or noodles with gravy. Yes, I can make the healthy version. I make homemade mushroom gravy w/veggie broth. But I don't feel like eating veggies with it. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE veggies, but some days, I just don't want them. Help! Anyone??
For me it just came down to my health depending on it......I was really unhealthy and having serious medical problems and I didn't want to get worse. Every time I craved something bad I just reminded myself that it wouldn't add to my well being, and I was able to retrain my brain that way. But I also just found ways of making healthy versions of stuff...Like oil free tater tots and oil free and sugar free chocolate muffins etc.... for when I really want something:)
The funny thing i always got bad consience when i ate carbs but now i start eating potatoes (like i used to) and i feel more satisfied and not hungry all the time. I ve lost over the years my Intuition about food because of the media telling you what should you it and what is good for you! I am tired of trying and failig! Thanks again! Sorry about my englisch, i am not a naitiv:)
Oh one more thing Kiki. I experimented making my 1st dressing oil free👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Loved it 2little mandarin oranges I squirt of mustard Rice vinegar Dash of maple syrup Blended it YUMMMMMMY
Thank you for sharing your shopping and eating method. Do you have salads later or just use the frozen veggies to ensure you get the maximum nonstarchy veggies? I like the idea of not really cooking with a recipe. Nonstarchy veggies on half the plate, starch on the other part, and fruit. I can do this!!! Thanks so much for all you do to help us. Social distancing 🤗 and 🙌🏾. ❤️
so once I run out of fresh greens then Ill eat steamed veggies for the remaining few days unless its summer when I have an endless supply of greens from the garden:)
Yes me too- best place to order 25lbs of beans? and how best to store them? Also we order medium grain brown rice on amazon 15lb bags and the 'sticky rice' it makes is way more appealing to the kiddos and yummy too!
I've started eating like you about 7 days ago. I'm not having stomach pains and gas anymore. I'm having some headaches and still fighting bedtime hunger but overall I'm feeling ok
Hello love, 1st thanks for everything that do! You are appreciated. 2nd PLEASE tell us where you got the huge glass containers that you store your bulk 25 pound beans, rice etc in. I really need those!!!
you always have such informative videos, thank you. I am jealous of your grocery store, i'm now in a small town with only one small co-op, produce section is about 1/20th of yours
I have Costco. Only because we don’t have a Sam’s Club nearby. I went tonight to stock up and it is so worth it. They had everything stocked (from all the crazy Covid 19 madness) and it was quiet. I got a huge bag of berries. I have had a membership for years and don’t know why I forget about it. They deals on frozen fruit and veggies is amazing!!
What a great, easy economical idea! Eat fresh the first half and then frozen prepared meals from the freezer for the rest of the week ... Great for rotation and no waste 👍
I added the new vegan chickenless seasoning from Trader Joe's to the basmati rice and added a bag of frozen mixed veggies and eat it with the lavash bread we get from Trader's too and it was delicious.
How do you make steamed vegetables crispy? Especially frozen veggies. When I cook frozen veggies in the bamboo steamer, they turn out mushy. Thank you for all of your hard work! LOVE your channel. You are the best!!!!

He has been keeping me on the low fat path (already was vegan for eons) but now, COVID-19 is keeping me WFPBNO even more! Excellent video and decided to subscribe. A whole plants foods based diet is best for your immune system and will help fight against disease including the current Coronavirus being spread throughout the world.
do you guys have a costco or sams membership? i find it super useful for buying lots of produce, herbs, and lemons/limes to last for up to a month, even in a household of 2-3!
Hello new to your channel.I am looking forward to trying this. Was wondering how soon after starting this way of life did you start to see the pounds fall off? Btw could you make a video sharing your food list?

Look at those full shelves! Grocery stores are looking a lot emptier these days.
Before covid 19 I feel like I took going to a fully stocked market for granted! Not any more! Thanks for sharing 😁

Thank you so much for introducing me to those honey mangoes. They are my new favorite food!
So glad I started stocking up and following your how I eat videos !
I added a bit of salt to the cooking water for brown rice. It takes that kinda bitterness away.
naomi L adding no-beef or no-chicken bouillon to the cooking water helps too! I find that brown basmati rice is so much tastier than plain brown, as well

You have given me hope to lose weight. You are amazing ❤️ thank you 🙏
Brown bismati rice is the best brown rice I've ever tasted!
What a great, easy economical idea! Eat fresh the first half and then frozen prepared meals from the freezer for the rest of the week ... Great for rotation and no waste 👍
