This one isnt that great of a how to video. I made it slightly in a rush and I messed up some parts. I'd love to redo this and make a more COSPLAY accurate version. If you're asking why I'm deeming it not accurate is because there are a lot of fabrics that I could have used that I didn't use. For starters Morticia's dress in the 1990's films are jaquards or brocades, venetian laces, and not a velvet. Also they have tons of beads and trims on it. The bottom parts are chiffon pleat remnants added on top of the dress and they're frayed. So really.. this is not an accurate cosplay but a costume none the less.
I'm extremely happy with the outcome and am please to bring Morticia to life. I would love to try to make this dress again in the future with all the right materials. That's the difference between a cosplay and a costume if you ask me. I do think I can wear this dress out every day if I felt like it too. It's so form fitting and I'm very mobile with it.

You make for an excellent Morticia Addams , very nice but l prefer the Carolyn Jones version of the dress , and the way she wiggled about in it. , your dress is lovely, but l prefer to see it narrow all the way down to the ankles .... then again I grew up watching the original TV series of the Addams Family 😉

Thank you! Originally I wanted to try to do the Carolyn Jones version of the dress but I learned that they used velcro at the bottom to attach the "tentacles" and since I was using this dress for Halloween it wasn't an option to do a hobble dress. I definitely want to revisit Morticia and try more types of her dress than just this interpretation.

Yes they also had a slit up the back apparently , so the Carolyn could move easier in certain scenes , this also had velcro to close it up . Neat idea , or you could add a hidden zip at the bottom
When you need to walk more freely 😉

If you are interested in making the dress longer a piece of advice that was given to me was take slow small steps and there is a good chance people behind you would want to avoid stepping on the dress; at least that's what I remember.

I'm definitely thinking about adding a train to this so I'll have to keep that in mind
