@@vital0208 In the UK, we have a new age plate every six months which shows the age of the car. So in 2015 for example, we have a number plate which might read YY15JKK - this means it was new in 2015 between March and September. In September 2015, the new plate would be YY65JKK, and this car would fetch a slight premium over the 15 plate as it could be up to 6 months newer. I presume whoever came up with the naming system thought that - this would last until 2055, at which point we may no longer need registration plates to identify cars!

Volkswagen's transformation of Skoda, from poor also ran to competitive mainstream car maker, must surely be one of the biggest success stories of the motor industry.... Today's Skoda cars now stand comparison with any other brand at a similar price. And one thing you always see in Skoda road tests, is how good they are to drive...... The new Fabia I bought in 2001, had little touches I'd never seen in any car previously, like the little clip on the driver's windscreen pillar, to hold a parking permit, or the little sliding storage drawers under front seats, the little hooks in the boot for carrier bags, the little pockets on the side of the front seats, just big enough to take a mobile phone etc...... I personally feel the build quality of new Skodas now exceeds VW's...... it's almost as if Skoda were trying to prove something 😁😁

And then went on to say that they give a 12 mth warranty and denied that if the belt went on my drive home to wales the warranty would cover it . I had to rewind the video 3 times to make sure I hadn't misheard that price. £300 for a set of wheel trims feels illegal. Some one at VW must have got a massive bonus for thinking 'what do most people loose that's dirt cheap to make? Wheel trim! We'll gouge the cheap folk, who don't spring for the alloys, for replacements or it'll put them off and we do t have to waste time making spares'

You already said it, Matt…. But unless it’s a collector, even with low mileage, who in the right mind would pay £6000 for a 15 year old bog standard golf. I’ve since seen it on your website for £10,000! Jesus! They’d have to be nuts to pay that but there will be a golf nut out there with more money than sense and someone will pay it, it’s just a waiting game for the collector. It does look amazing when finished though, fair play for bringing it back to showroom condition.

Love the channel and how you do business, saving cars instead of quickly profiteering on every purchase. You are an example of how all businesses should be run. In the case of this Golf, I can't help feeling that you hopefully kept all the original tyres, wipers, plugs etc. So a true enthusiast could buy it and maybe show it in it's true original factory form, concourse but all original parts. May have boosted the attraction? Hope you've had a buyer since, I was 3 months late to the party, lol. Keep up the great work, very informative and honest 👍

I don't understand why people get so excited by older vehicles with such low mileage.
Extremely low mileage usually means a lot of cold starts and stop-and-start driving.
Because they do such a low annual mileage they usually aren't maintained that well.
Usually a well-maintained vehicle with normal mileage where it goes on motorway runs and frequently reaches operating temperatures is in better mechanical condition.

Well I was thinking about this whilst watching the white jag video - the reason is that I can tell that you share certain values that are very important to me - integrity, consistency, the belief in doing things properly, and most importantly, the belief in treating people fairly. With these ethics so many differences that cause friction between people would become insignificant.

A collector will want this. There is a niche of collecting for bog standard cars. Some display the most basic next to the top of the line of the same model for contrast. Also the bog standard ones are the worst survivors. Most become cheap runarounds or learner cars which gives them quite high attrition while the more desirable specs are cherished. Try finding a diesel or non-GTI mk2 Golf, you can’t, they’re all gone.
Also sadly, with estate sales there is always a leech around who begs cars like these off the family when they are grieving. They have no interest i preserving it like you have.
People wonder why cars disappear off the road. It’s because they don’t get the treatment that you have given it at this stage of its life. Well done.
Best of luck with the sale.

Great video Matt! Reminds me of a cheap 52 plate Honda HRV I bought some eight years back. I needed a cheap runabout and a local garage had the HRV in for £800, granted not been stood as long as the Golf but had been in their yard for eight months, owner said take it as it is. Covered in green moss around the window trims, interior all musty and filthy body work. Cleaned it up ,gave it a service , four new tyres and flew through it's MOT. Started off with 80k on the clock and I ran it up to 153k over three years. Apart from standard services it was totally reliable. Also being a 1.6 petrol was pretty economical. Keep up the good work.
