Here in Canada 🇨🇦 independent repair shops can’t access all factory information but if a VW dealership runs Guided Fault Finding (GFF) it will tell you if any module has a change in coding and can put coding back to factory spec.
I had a bad BCM problem with my 2018 GSW 4Mo. Mainly affected the interior lights. Took an itinerant VW engineer to diagnose at my local dealer. Total part cannon, lucky it was under warranty, was without the car for nearly three months.
I found on my mk5, if the bumper is trashed you really have to replace most or am the fender liners. I spent about $250 in fender liner parts. Once you displace the bumper once all the screw holes are ripped out and broken.

The Modest GTI Takes the Crown: Why the MK6 GTI Edges Out the MK5 R32 While the MK5 R32 holds a legendary status among Volkswagen enthusiasts, the unassuming MK6 GTI offers a compelling counterpoint. Let's delve into why the GTI, despite lacking the R32's iconic VR6 engine and all-wheel drive (AWD), might be the better choice for many drivers. Performance Punch: On paper, the R32 boasts a larger, naturally aspirated engine with a throatier sound. However, the MK6 GTI's 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers impressive power (often with later model years surpassing the R32's output) with less weight to lug around. This translates to quicker acceleration and a more agile driving experience. Additionally, the turbo's responsive nature eliminates the lag often associated with naturally aspirated engines. Fuel Efficiency: A significant advantage of the MK6 GTI is its fuel economy. With a smaller engine and modern engineering, the GTI sips gas compared to the thirsty VR6. This translates to significant cost savings at the pump, especially for daily drivers. Modern Appeal: The MK6 GTI boasts a more modern interior with improved ergonomics and technology. The cabin feels more comfortable and user-friendly compared to the slightly dated feel of the MK5 R32. Additionally, the MK6 offers a wider range of infotainment features, making for a more connected driving experience. Affordability and Tuning: The MK6 GTI is generally more affordable than the MK5 R32, both in terms of initial purchase price and ongoing maintenance. Furthermore, the turbocharged engine of the GTI offers a wealth of potential for performance modifications, allowing enthusiasts to unlock even more power and personalize their driving experience. A Matter of Preference: It's important to acknowledge that the R32 isn't without its merits. All-wheel drive provides superior handling in adverse weather conditions, and the VR6's unique sound remains a beloved characteristic. However, for most drivers, the MK6 GTI's combination of practicality, performance, and affordability make it the more well-rounded choice. Ultimately, the decision comes down to individual priorities. Those seeking a thrilling soundtrack and all-weather grip might lean towards the R32. However, for drivers who value a balance of performance, fuel efficiency, modern features, and affordability, the MK6 GTI emerges as the more compelling option.

I learned 2 things with this video: 1: The RCD-330 is a great option for adding carplay to these cars, better than the stereos that include Chinese songs with them. 2: Manual transmissions are still better than DSGs because they don't do crap like this. I hope you can turn this thing into something that runs and drives great! It amazes me how people will take these cars and turn them into turds like this. Good job with this thing. That looks absolutely amazing. Notwithstanding its POS status mechanically.
As a fellow mk5 owner I must thank you for this bit of schadenfreude. Its comforting to know that I dont suffer alone.
So I had a MKV that was also stuck in 1st gear after a deer collision. Took it to a friend who replaced a fuse. Easy fix!
This is amazing, good job all around. Ya its really about the journey with these neglected Vw's we buy. My mk3 was previously owned by a hood rat Honda boy, that clearly had no money to fix cars. almost safe to drive again after a few years of wrenching when I get home from wrenching.
Hope you can get it completely fixed at some point!
Giving up on German cars has been proven to improve mental well-being in 89,3% of the cases.
So what about the spark plugs lol 😂 I LOVE THIS CHANNEL 😂 it’s fun because WE ARE ALL LIKE THIS when we are working on our cars 😂
Oh wow, the extent that this car has gone to is phenomenal. TMi, i had the same gen golf GT (yes the one with both supercharger and turbo charger stuck together...) was a nightmare! From non diagnosable EPC light to turbo issues..random electricals issuez....think an unreliable golf , x double the issues....dct? Dont even go there. never again.
Haha, the radio is awesome. I got a free, it's still unbelievable to me, r56 jcw from a buddy after being park for months with an unknown sunroof leak and to this day when you turn it on the garbage chinese DVD touchscreen heads it automatically plays Star Wars a New Hope with no sound.
Great video, reminds me of what happens when I buy a project car 😅😅
Ive got Lovley Mk5 GTI ! DSG never failed - Yet ... I;ve got door handle - rust issues but C'mon MAN! 3k plus like you spend 6k in parts and 4k labour ... On the top of it You have to pay insurance for it also .. But car Looks and sounds Lovley!
I would still buy this car from paul. Even though it would break his heart to see it go
How much are you coming to pick this car up for?
@@Deutscheautoparts oh hell, i dont have the heart to separate paul from his favorite car. But if i had to put a price on it i would easily pay $8,000 as is. $9,500 fixed. But I dont have the money anyway, i was just being a big fat phoney
Now ser dap lord of pauls deserves his own daza swap mk7.
