    For me, B550m Steel Legend and B550m Aorus Pro-P are the greatest. Only shame its the necessity for a 3000 series CPU to update the Asrock board

    If Ryzen 3800x prices drop a bit more, I might upgrade from my 2700x/B450MB to 3800x/B550.
    ASUS TUF Gaming B550-Plus (WiFi) looks like a quality choice at a modest price. Thank you!

      I'd honestly keep an eye out for the 5600X. it may get discounted prior to the updated Stacked Cache Zen 3 CPUs in Q1 next year and to compete with the 12600K from INtel: It's a better gaming CPU thanks to higher Zen 3 core speeds, and pretty much matches the 3800X in all core workloads despite 'missing' 2 cores. It's the higher performance and more versatile option at

    4:54 is incorrect. MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI does only have one gen1 (not 2) 5gb (not 10) type c, and two gen1 usb type a for front io. Im trying to build a system for cases with gen2 type c on frontpanel so therefore i had to dubbel check things im sorry hehe

    Would You recommend Msi b550 mortar wifi Over asus tuf gaming b550m plus wifi, Currently the price difference between them is less than a 5$, what should I do plz suggest(Video editing and gaming is main concern). The processor used will be RYZEN 5 5600G and will pair with Rtx 2060 super or 2080 in Future, thanks

      I prefer the MSi Mortar, because it has the internal USB 3.2 gen 2 header. It's a board we've used and tested for over 9 months now, and it's rock solid.

    what would Premium Builds recommend as a board for a Ryzen 5950X build? X570(S) seems the way to go - my preference is for MSI Tomahawk, Carbon, or Unify, but I've heard that B550 is better for memory overclocking? Thx.

    Is gigabyte b550m aorus elite motherboard good for RYZEN 5 5800x processor

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 роки тому +3

      It will do fine. I'd personally like to see a bit more heatsinking on the VRMs and perhaps a more robust VRM deisgn, but it will still run to full potential. If the Aorus B550M Pro is close in price, that has better VRM configuration and a more extensive rear I/O panel.

    Since the 5000 series processors have been out for quite a while now, would these boards (mainly the asus tuf b550m because thats what i bought recently) support 5000 series out of the box without having to update the bios?

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 роки тому +1

      Almost all will now ship with Ryzen 5000 compatible BIOS. There's still a slim chance that you encounter old stock that isn't updated. You can check with retailers and some offer a BIOS flash service. Alternatively, check if the board has a CPU-less flash feature (Q-flash, flashback or similar) and you can flash it yourself from USB.

      @@BuildPicker I just had an old ASUS PRIME B550 that apparently WAS old, since it was brand new, yet didnt boot up with the cpu. So, I had the worst reverse luck there. Thank you for this Answer tho, this REALLY relives me!

    question, does the MAG B550M Mortar support Ryzen 5 5600x without a bios update?

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 роки тому +1

      By now I'd expect all retail boards to be shipped with a compatible BIOS, yes. However it does have BIOS flashback so it's easy to flash yourself if you need to.

    I ended up getting the MSI B550 Unify. It's an excellent choice that won't break the bank. I'm running a 5950X. An X570(S) board was not necessary after all. It has 4 M.2 slots that can all support NVMe, 3 at PCIe 4.0 and one at 3.0 in CPU mode. It has enough SATA ports even with all the M.2 slots populated which does result in one SATA port being unavailable. I currently have 3 SATA ports in use. There is no RGB on the board which is just fine by me because this is an RGB-less build with no glass panels in the case. I highly recommend this board as being probably the best B550 board available. It's supposedly aimed at gamers by MSI but it's working fine as a Windows and Linux development machine for me. Better than fine actually. I'm very pleased with the decision.

    Please include PSU requirements in your mobo reviews. Some of these offerings are (cpu 8pin) (cpu 8pin + 4pin)! HOW DID YOU MISS THIS GENIUS?

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  Рік тому +1

      It doesn't matter. A single 8 Pin CPU EPS connector powers all these boards/CPUs adequately. Additional power is not required. Specs are readily available online if you want to check for some reason. It's not a relevant distinction between boards so I don't mention it.
