  • Rare highlights of Magic Johnson playing for the greatest team in the history of sports. Even though he had been retired from the game for a year, Magic was still capable of being an elite floor general for the Dream Team.

Honestly, Magic was the true MVP of the team
After being out of the game for a good year, he was truly the sparkplug that brought the entire team together

Incredible basketball instincts, high IQ and creativity. Just the best ball player I've ever seen!

His style of basketball is contagious. Everybody gets the ball in spectacular fashion ready to score. People run the floor because they know the pass is coming.

In 1992, Magic Johnson came out of retirement for the Olympic Games, and in the process, solidified the Dream Team as the greatest collection of talent in sports history. Despite playing limited minutes (because on that team, there was no need for any one player to dominate), Magic showcased his incredible passing skills and fastbreak play whenever he was on the court.
In terms of impressiveness, I would say David Robinson was probably the most dominant player on the team (his defense was unbelievable), followed by Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley. Michael Jordan didn't actually have that great of an Olympics scoring-wise, but his tenacity when it came to defending perimeter threats was second to none (aside from maybe Pippen).
I included footage from both the Olympic games themselves, and the Tournament of the Americas qualifying tournament team USA played in beforehand.
As always, I hope that all of you enjoy this video, and let me know what player you would like to see featured next!

@@blackricktheruler Barkley was impressive, no doubt. I just value defense to an absurd degree, which is why I was so enamored with Robinson and Pippen.

0:22 As Magic delivers that no-look pass to MJ for the dunk, you can see the look (smile) on the defensive players face like; “I can’t believe I’m plating with these two!!!

He easily could’ve averaged a triple double in those Olympics if he wanted to.

He absolutely could have if he had wanted to or been able to play more minutes. It was very apparent the Dream Team did not play with much effort in at least half of their games. They were crushing teams by 40, and it could've been much worse.

I have been watching some dream team 1992 games. Eventhough they didnt play that much, the level Magic and Mr. Larry Bird had was something else. Jordan too obviously. The other standout was surprisingly Pippen, who played incredibly sound but spectacular basketball during all the tournament (actually he always played like that, but i didnt remember he played so well in the olympics).

Magic's passing was just out of this World
Incredible finish to his basketball career at the time (then he came back for short stint with the Lakers in '96)

I still can’t believe he had to retire when he was still the 2nd best basketball player on the planet. To this day I wish he could’ve got a rematch with Jordan and the bulls like he did with bird in 84(tragic Johnson). I really think he would’ve been on a mission and Jordan would be 5-1 in the finals.
