  • On this video I had A Moment of GET THERE ITIS Recovering the Cherokee Six. I had to drive to Kentucky from Colorado through an intense thunder snowstorm to recover my Cherokee Six before the annual expired. At this time, my Turbo Saratoga was still under annual since January and 2.5 months later. Not knowing what was going on I did not want to take a chance on leaving my Cherokee Six with the same company because they have not sorted the frustrating issue with a part mix-up.

Raul the get there itis, I feel has never been worth the risk. we have lost a few friends to that. Just remember if the drop dead date happens on your annual, or a date has come gone on a agenda or item. That item/agenda will still be there when you get to it. Most mechanics when it comes to a ferry permit are going to walk to your airplane and give a once over/preflight and sign your paperwork for a ferry permit. The hole point of having a mechanic look at it is to make sure the airplane is in one piece. Keep up the great work on the content, and good luck on find a new quality maintainer out in Kentucky. as always stay SAFE and fly SAFE.

Hi Scott, I'll never do that flying and it is definitely not worth the risk. The reason I left the Turbo Saratoga in Kentucky with a new company was because the weather was not cooperating. But this time, I was not going to leave it there again after so much confusion with the new company. So I just had to drive back to get it 😃 I appreciate you my friend!

do all Cherokee Six's have that passenger seating arrangement (facing forward) or do some of them have seating like your Saratoga? Love you videos! Especially the father son flying ones!! He's making so many memories and he seems like such a natural on the radio & controls now!!

Hi Jason, and thank you my friend! The earlier models all had forward configuration. But a year or two after 1966 Piper began to introduce the club seating configuration. I like both for different type of flying and the forward gives the best leg room. When the children were smaller I used to remove the middle seats from the Cherokee Six to give us a lot of room. I really enjoy the father and son moments with Javier. Those moments are special!

Get-there-itis? EVERYONE gets it! The trick is to recognize it, and get away from it before it bites you - and it always does in one form or another! Sending positive energy your way that your Annual Inspections fall into line!

Hi EJ, Hope all is well my good friend. Yes, it’s important to recognize it before it bites. My moments for me flying is just to have flexibility to postpone or go early. But this time it got me on the road trying to scoop up the Six. Thanks for the positive energy buddy. Thankfully, both annuals are done and it’s back to flying for another year. My next flight will be in the Turbo Saratoga back to Denver after a series of videos. Have a great rest of your day my friend! 😀

@@FlyingDirty All is well with us - thanks. Always appreciate you sharing flying, aircraft ownership, and now homesteading. We have our happy little 1-acre on a lake in the woods. Looking into setting up a couple of beehives.

I love Cheetos!!! Especially the crispy ones! But, then I get cheese all over everything. I'm on a diet, though. So no snacks. I need to lose about 10 more pounds. Get my blood pressure down a little. I passed my flight physical a few weeks ago, but the doctor said, "Get that blood pressure down!"... Hard to do these days.....
