  • It's been over 11 years of Aircraft Ownership for me. On this video, I will talk about if it was it all worth it? There is a huge learning curve when it comes to owning an airplane but has the rewards outweigh the those challenges for me? I've a Piper Cherokee Six for loading the family and luggage and a Turbo Saratoga to combat the density altitudes and fly high and faster. It is also expensive but is it also worth the investment? Find out my experience on this video.

    I've been a pilot for almost 50 years now. I'm facing the fact that I only have a few more years left. I feel sorry for the people that are just getting into it these days. If you're not a multi-millionaire, you should think twice about getting into aviation. Everything.... fuel, airplanes, hangars, parts, insurance, and maintenance has gone over the top expensive. Yes it's freedom, but it is expensive. Good luck to you and your wonderful family, Raul!!

      Thank you my friend! I always say, nothing worthwhile is handed to you. If it’s what you want, you have to go and get it! I like to think positive and overcome the challenges of life. I’ll not let the circumstances dictate how I want to live and I hope others do the same. Freedom starts with being passionate about having goals and pursuing your dreams. 😀

      @@FlyingDirty Sorry for sound so glum. Maybe it's my old age creeping in... Heck, it's here for me! It seems like everyday, something else is going up in price, whether it's insurance, parts, or whatever. You know what I mean. The only thing that's not going up are my investments and my bank account. I'm just frustrated. I've never seen this country in such mess in my entire life. I'd like to look on the bright side, but I'm not sure there is one. But, you're right about one thing. Don't let it stop you from having and doing the things you want. Take care my friend.

      The expense is manageable, but the effort to get a PPC is ridiculous! Probably, sports pilot would have been better for me.

      @@azcharlie2009 my good friend, I totally relate to you and, trust me, I am not naive nor excited about what is taking place. Many people think this is all coincidence but I knew of these draconian plans and agendas for several years. It was hard for me to wrap my head around the insanity that has taken people over but I had the opportunity to mentally and emotionally prepare. So I deal that my responsibility is to fill others with as much hope as possible. But I can’t discount the reality of how people are suffering. But having said that, there’s a great Bible verse that has stuck with me for many years and has served me well; “Hosea 4:6 KJV
      My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee”. It shocks me how many people fail to see what’s coming even if it’s right in front of them. Regardless of what happens in this world I know that I am saved! That’s what keeps me pumping in such a corrupt world my great friend 😀. Always speak your mind, you’ll always have my appreciation and respect!

    I’ve watched a lot of your videos over the months, and this one is my favorite. The reason being, I have been struggling with the need to want to on my own aircraft, but the fear of engaging in the process. It feels so foreign and different to me, that I wonder if I’m sometimes delusional, thinking that this can ever happen in my life. But watching this video makes me really believe that this can truly be a reality for me. Thank you for this video, and the words of encouragement. You are doing a great thing by inspiring future aircraft owners to think outside their limitations. Take care, and fly well!

    Great insight, Raul. I’m going through some of that introspection about my plane ownership. Keep my current plane? Upgrade? Sell? The calculus is not straightforward.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • @FlyingDirty

      I’ve considered selling one of mine but it’s definitely not an easy decision. I like them both and, while I like the Six for hauling the entire family around I also like the retractable gear, speed, and turbo in the Saratoga. I can relate to not being straightforward. At one point, I did consider selling both and my family looked at me like I was going insane. Probably not ready to sell yet, but I think I’ve made enough memories to keep me satisfied. 😀 Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

    Raul, excellent video, I thought the songs you picked for this one was great. I love being an aircraft owner, but this was my first plane and you a 100% correct it's quite a learning curve all that you need to know. I think if flying is something Javier wants to do then definitely flight lessons are the way to go. I think once he is actually in the left seat and controlling the plane throughout the flight that may give him incentive to get into the books a little more. Javier, you have access to TWO planes, not many people can say that, it's a huge advantage. Another thing when Javier starts studying and asking you questions that may make you go, oh yeah, I remember that.... good refresher for you. Lastly having two pilots in front is WAYYYY better than one. Y'all stay safe.

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  9 місяців тому

      Thanks Frank 😀 Two pilots is definitely better than one. He’s already helping much by taking the controls and over the radios. He’s thinking of starting after this school year.

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  5 місяців тому

      Hi Amado, those dollies worked great. The Hangar size is 46' X 39' X 12'7". Had to work some magic to move the airplanes around with the dollies. I'm not sure if I showed it on the video but I also used a winch with a wireless remote for the final positioning. 😀
