Total A class video - some really good tips that will help every pilot :-)
Unfortunately that tip won’t work with C1 classified drones. Max distance for those automatic shots is 50 meters
Skip to 2:50
@@simonci5177 DJI mini 3 isn’t a C1 classified drone, neither is Mavic 3 yet.
Great tips Gavin i see the Mavic Mini in the background , i still use it even though i have all the Mini series on a side note you may or may not know i though i had a problems with my Mini drones last week it wouldn't return to home only option i had was to land , well it turns out the drone needs to be at least 20m away , i never knew that LOL
Yes I had this problem, even the DHI store seemed unaware of this feature. The Mini 3 doesn’t react this way thankfully.
@@betabeta28 You mean DJI right
Hi Rick! Yes I still love my little mavic mini! great drone still in the right hands! Yes indeed I did know that :) its easily missed though I guess my friend at least you know for next time eh! haha
@@GAVINHR YAP but i feel kind of dumb cause like why would you want your drone to come home like if it less then 20m ,oh well
Hi Gavin,
Really great practical advice and well presented.
If not already done, could you please do a video similar to this; on moving targets. e.g a vehicle?.
I have an air 2
Many thanks for all you do, much appreciated.🙂
Great idea Gavin in achieving that goal of a cinematic shot!
Thanks. Confirms what I was thinking as I contemplated an intimidating shot of a huge, tower in my local town.
Thanks Gav,
Never really used quickshots, but this has given me some ideas for a flight I'm going to do over an old submarine.
Yep pleas give it a go and see how you get on!
Excellent Gavin. Thinking outside the box all the time. That's a great idea to use them in a completely different perspective 👍
Thanks very much Rich! Indeed just doing things differently, using a quick shot to get a smooth shot rather than specifically close up makes a difference!
Great tips. I've been using circle and spiral for 2 1/2 years. Makes life soich simpler 😀
Brilliant eh! Thanks for watching and your comment
great tips; i've yet to try and utilize those tools like i should always flying manually because... I really don't have a good answer there...
this definitely inspires me to go out and try them!
Thanks for this. I’ll try them.I am new to this and all of these tips help.
You are very welcome!
Such an amazing video mate! :)
Thank you very much!
Brilliant idea.
I've used the circle quickshot recently when my fingers are suddenly shaking due to tiredness.. while at the same time relatives come to ask few things..
Damn it helps a lot.
Thanks Gavin for reminding us again 👍💪😍😍😍
Thank you kindly for watching and your comment it really is appreciated
I went out and tried this yesterday and it absolutely works. I never thought to use the Quick Shots this way. Thank you!
That’s great feedback I really appreciate that ! Glad you’re happy with the result !
Oh this is a great idea, trying to operate the gimbal and other sticks simultaneously can get frustrating and usually can't be accomplished in one take, Thank's
Glad you think so! Give it a go and see how you get on! Thanks for watching
Yep dude I'll give it a go. I like working through my shots in my head but that does take time
Like it. Good video. I will try some of those things in one of my next flights. Cheers!
Brilliant as usual. Especially useful for those like me who has no time to do lot of practice !!!👏
Glad it was helpful!
I used that a week ago while testing all the features of the mini 3 pro, shooting some objects across the river. I will say, I didn't think of it the way you did. Great idea. 👍🏿
Thank you very much! Hope you got some great footage ! Try use it this way and see what else you can get
Thanks, I will. Keep up the great work 👍🏿.
Thanks for the shout out. Will give these quick shots a go with my mini se, next time I'm out flying with the Samsung galaxy A7 lite
Wow! That's a fantastic tip. Thanks a lot
Great video thank you,so much for this information. I am going to try it and let you know. Please keep your video's coming.
Thank you! Will do!
This video just made my day!!! Thank you so much! Extremely useful!!
Glad you think so! I appreciate the kind words
Spot on Gavin i have done the very same in a couple of my uploads and yes it saves so much fiddling with controls. as usual top tips from the top man 👍
Absolutely
Your videos are so useful thanks from a new drone pilot and I’ve also subbed 👍
Really appreciate that thank you !
I tried your technique this evening using the Quick Shots. Awesome results, and really easy! Thanks for the great tip!
Great to hear!
Brilliant tutorial as always
That's absolutely brilliant Gavin you have just made my life a lot easier.
Thanks Keith! Something most people use but creatively at distance for awesome B-roll makes it so much easier

Great video. I just bought a Mavic Mini from a buddy. My first drone. Its in great shape. I need to practice quickshots.
Happy flying !
Thank you for this brother🙏🏻 just subscribed 👊🏻
Amazing tips love it Thanks
Thank you kindly !
Very, very, cool! Thanks
Absolutely brill tips for us drone flyers to get fantastic results 🏆👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting, will try it.
I will defiantly be trying this 👍
Excellent !!!
It's great to use the features that the drone already has built in👍
Exactly! Just using them from a distance changes everything eh!
To get a reverse flying with tilt-up reveal use Tapfly Free in the IFM. Select your speed with the slider, double tap your screen to determine the ascending line of flight then rotate the drone by 180 degree. Camera pointed vertically down & slowly tilt up. Works great for Mavic 2 (zoom).
Brilliant thanks Gavin, completely forget to use Quickshots, very useful 👍🏻
Indeed! Close up they are pretty good but using them at distance to get easy cinematic moves is a game changer eh!
Love your video! Very nice job! Keep up the great work! =) Best regards Drone media Academy
Thanks, will do!
Excellent video, i would guess there is a lot of people who don't know this, me included so many thanks for these fantastic tips 👍
You’re very welcome ! Thanks for the comment and feedback
Hi Gavin, great idea which definitely contributes to a more professional looking footage. I'm using especially the QS "Circle" in that way since quite some time and will try "Rocket" now as well. Many thanks for sharing 👍 Cheers from Germany, Bernd 👋🙂
Hi there! indeed quite fun to mix it up and use them to get little short clips with are perfect for B roll! thanks for watching and commenting
@@GAVINHR You're welcome. Nice channel 👌
Amazing tips for beginners or advanced pilots.
Thanks Gavin, anything that helps make my videos better is always welcome.
Of course David! quickshots but at a distance as you see can give some very different results!
Whow wat a star you are
I watch loads of channels

Well dune
Thanks from John from barnsley
Thanks John that genuinely means a lot, UA-cam is a hobby for me and if I can help people along the way thats what makes me happy :)
The firmware could be made with improvements by adding sphere, rectangle, triangle, box etc with size implementation to alter size, or design your own say a circle with a drop point when it reaches that point, all these could be adjustable, it's like drawing a round glass the top first then that drop line. It's like working in 3D but what you draw the drone will follow that path and of course you need to save it to reuse again.
Absolutely 💯 % brilliant. Thank you 😊
Thank you kindly
Great tips Gavin. 👍
Thank you kindly
Brilliant idea.
Glad you think so!
Great information!
Thank you kindly! Wanted to do something different on this video !
Very good tips.

I have literally never used quickshots. They scared me 😂
I will try them out today 🙏🏼
Brilliant Gavin....🏴

👍Proper job Gav, cheers bud
Many thanks ! Thought I’d change the content up a bit ☺️
works gj
Great tips
Thank you !
Great!!
Thank you kindly
Very good Video!👍🏻
Highly appreciated!
Genius
Tried it out, does this function only work in 30fps and not in cineD? Thanks
i reckon it's best to perfect it manually so you can be flexible in different environments but this helps in simple shots for sure
Indeed, all my own flights are manual but for some this is an ideal solution ☺️
@@GAVINHR it is mate. good to use now and then for all of us
Great tips m8...😳😀🇬🇧
Thanks 👍
THANK GOODNESS !😂 With all the “BAD NEWS” going on about drones I’m glad YOU took the time for “GOOD” educational information which we all can use 🎉😅
Exactly!!
Hi , possible to know how to adjust the speed of the circle ... when I get it the drone goes very fast and I can't figure out how to adjust it ... thanks 🙏🏻
New subscriber bud. Just bought my first drone. Information overload on social media but your videos have put me at ease! Do you use ND filters with your lens for bright shots to control exposure?
Hi there and thank you ! It is very rare I ever use ND filters, other UA-camrs and users push them on social media but in reality they don’t affect your footage unless you specifically want to capture long exposure photos, I have made a video on ND filters which tell you the truth about them if you fancy a watch :)
Great tips Gavin!! I forget about the Quickshots and just fly the mini3 manually but that is a much better way to let the "brains" do the work and give my brain a break!! HAHA
Yep! Quick shots are ideal for close up and that’s how people use them but I use them at distance for cool landscape shots! Thank you because much for the coffee it is very much appreciated!
@@GAVINHR Hope it's the brew you like!!!!
Great video
Thanks mate!
you can also select and track an object in normal video mode and use only one stick for the movement. the drone also controls the gimbal angle and yaw by itself.
You can, which is what I also showed in the video :)
@@GAVINHR okay. Maybe I missed this part. 😁 Thanks for the reply
Wow...I'm gonna try that sometime...when I find something I really want to record...🤔..one question though...is the Dji mini 3 that much better than Dji mini or the mini 2 and mini se that I'm saving up for...
Hi bro...can u make a video how to fix dji fpv range...after the new firware,my dji fpv range cannot more than 500m..using a CE frequency because i from asia.tq
Quick question, at 3:17 it says "Tap "+" or draw a box around the subject". I couldn't find the "+". Do you know what they mean by this?
Nice video... and a good reminder to me to use quick shots more than I currently do!
They are a fantastic tool that often goes overlooked ! Happy flying
Great tips especially for an amateur like me 🙂
Thank you kindly Ant! Makes things so simple and good to show how doing things out the box can give a different perspective!
@@GAVINHR Absolutely awesome! This has made me feel like adding a drone to my kit list is not going to result in such a steep learning curve afterall! Thank you!
God tips, but I still prefer to do the movements myself, it’s that challenge part that gives me an inspiration to get more awesome shots every time and mastering my skills. I use intelligent flight modes only when I need to be in frame.
Indeed I always fly manually myself
Great video, how did you create the shoots at 00:51 and 01:03?
I find that unscrewing the Thumb sticks on the DJI RC controller makes it FAR less jerky!
Does quickshoot work with ProRes too?
Great video as always taken all that on board , also we’re can I find those cine sticks , been looking for sometime but had no joy .
Cheers gav
There you go : uk.scottymakesstuff.com/collections/cinesticks
And thank you for the kind words
Cheers gav
How quick is the turn around on those do you know roughly , once again many thanks
Well it was a while I reviewed them and they took about 2 weeks from Australia however now it looks like they are shipped from 4 locations so should be quicker 🙂
@@GAVINHR just ordered them 1-3 days 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 cheers
important information though is that quick shots can't shoot in d-cinelike for color grading later.
Right now that’s correct but that’s not to say the function won’t be added 🙂
good video mate thx for the tips A++ were can i get the lut from mate
I use a few different ones, which LUT did you prefer? If you send the time stamp I’ll find the one I used on that clip and host it when I get chance on my Google drive

@@GAVINHR it the one from 3:31 mate
sorry mate ask did u put the link up mate
I knew I forgot something! I’ll get on it tomorrow I’m sure I know which it is
Problem with quickshots is that you cannot record in d-cinelike 10-bit on dji mini 3 pro.
yes there is that but I guess !
absolutely...
Ya
Yes I suspect there are a lot of us who use Quick Shots because people get distracted by little imperfections and we want family and friends to enjoy our videos . And while photos can be touched up easily editing 4k video is a real challenge.
I almost always use Master Shots also then just take out the bits I don't like and add a simple fade in-between. Also add always add music or sound effects for the total package. Zooming over trees with the sound of a helicopter is fun.
I have real problems editing 4K footage my PC is too old I think. What I now do is upload 4x clips straight to my YT channel. One day in the future I may be able to download them and then edit them into videos.
...but if i remenber well.. quickshots limits the max resolution to 1080 only.
Watch to the end of the video ;) quick shots are in 4K
@@GAVINHR Super nice tip... and subscribed by the way!!
Thank you very much!
Great vid man. We gotta met up.
It been ages mate ! Hope you’re well
Excellent advice, and it really works well on landscape videos. 👍
Thank again Gavin, I love your shots of the action on The Humber. Lucky you are to be right there, with big, slow moving things to record. I hope you will donate some of the events to your County Archive for posterity 😇
I must admit I’m very lucky, it then again I’m also envious of those that have mountains to play with so I guess it balances out my friend!
🤝😎
Thank you !
These are handy for amateurs but I personally believe you're better off learning to fly better in manual mode. Then you can control everything and you're not reliant on changing parameters within quick shots to get the clip you want. Manual flying is harder but it's nothing in comparison with FPV flying. If you want to get good at flying then relying on quickshots is not the best way forward.
Completely agree, but for various reasons there are many drone users that simply don’t have the confidence , ability and often I see people mention medical conditions such as arthritis which all inhibits them to fly these manually. This video is for them. I fly everything manually myself.
@@GAVINHR That's a fair point - I would still recommend using manual as much as possible so you understand how the drone works and will encourage you to create more imaginative shots.
Of course, I’ve always pushed for my viewers to learn to fly manually and have greater control of the sticks, I’ve even suggested you shouldn’t play around with slowing down gimbal speeds, practice in the faster modes then when competent slow it down after so I’m completely on board with your ideals
Why my dji mini 2 was heating in lower side
My Avata doesn't have quick shots LOL
Yeah thats a good point!
It won’t work with a moving subject and trying to lock on it to perform Quick Shot
So ... your big tip ... that you' discovered' is to use the built-in quick shots at long distance? *golf clap*
Oh my god ! I’m honoured! Thank you for the round of applause I wasn’t expecting it whatsoever ! What an honour! Can you believe how simple this tip was?! Crazy eh! Thanks for watching bro 😎
It sucks that none of these modes work with 5.4k
Totally agree
U can't do 4K 60p 4:2:2 LOG with mods.
Please don't claim that these techniques work for drones other than the ones you use. For example, the Phantom 4 Pro uses the DJI Go app, which seems to be different from the DJI Fly. A mention of this fact would have gone a measure for those not using this app to stop wasting their time.
What might be nice, is if you could find some way to use similar techniques for the DJI Go app. Then I'd love to hear from you, as perhaps might other DJI Go users.
Sorry if you felt you time was wasted however it us due to the drone you are flying rather than the app, the phantom 4 does not have quickshots however many of the other drones that use the DJI go app DO have this feature therefore whilst its a shame the phantom you own does not this method will work for the vast majority of my audience. Unfortunately I cannot offer a solution for the phantom for the reasons mentioned.
@@GAVINHR I guess that a disclaimer about the DJI Go app, the Phantom family of drones, would have avoided the rather overblown claim that your techniques work for all drones. But thank you for the prompt response.
Any DJI drone, isn't true....
VERY few DJI drones don’t have quickshots. It’s clearly going to work for the majority
Bro you found nothing new
Subjectively your comment is inaccurate, you see the thing here is, it is new to those that don’t know 😀 if you want further evidence read the comments for those that never thought of it. Have a lovely day and thanks for your comment helping this video to an even further reach. God bless
that's interestin - GAVINHR,
Yeah different way of doing things eh!
