I've never tried the WR Rye, but it sounds quite approachable. Maybe exactly because of the low rye content, making it a gateway rye
"Barely rye" is almost bourbon in flavor profile. I think this one is great and reasonably priced. Might be harder to find across the pond though. But you have access to all the good Irish stuff 😢
@@TheBarleyLads that's true! And my better half is from Chicago, so I'll have plenty of chances to head stateside and pick up some stuff that wouldn't be exported.

This rye is straight up terrible. If you like this stuff than you probably just don't like rye.
You can like this and still appreciate and enjoy a 95/5 MGP or a 100% rye from a craft distiller like New Riff or Woodinville (which I do). I stated it's a good entry to rye for bourbon drinkers, which I still stand by.

In 30 years of drinking rye Ive had a lot of bad ones but nothing was as memorably bad for rye in this price range as this one.
If it was a 20 dollar bottle it's taste would make more sense.
I like most mgp' sourced 95/5, but this brown forman stuff just isn't good to me and far below any cheaper mgp' stuff, and IMHO all the mgp' 95/5's are better at the same price or less.
But to each their own of course.
