NOT A MIXING WHISKEY!!!!!
Glad you enjoy it. I'd rather have their 8 yr bourbon or BiB neat over this.
The stores near me use to carry it in the bottle six pack and then I stop seeing it for a while. I finally saw it in cans again and I was afraid trying it from a can. I hadn't had it over 6 months and finally for my birthday in two weeks I decided to go ahead a buy a pack of it in cans. Hopefully it taste similar to the bottles.
I like the slightly larger cans because the pour nicely into a pint glass. Can't say I've noticed much if any difference between cans and bottles.
@TheBarleyLads that's great to hear. I bought a pack of the 14.9 0z can. I'll be making a video of it when I have it sometime on birthday week.
It's definitely an underrated beer in my opinion. It's one of my favorite beers.
It's my go-to for Irish red ale, too.
Split the G
We posted this before that was a thing lol. Glad I have a healthy stock since there's a shortage. Thanks for watching!
hell yeah love this beer!
Great educational video my dude. Thanks!
Appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching!
This channel still alive? Really like the straightforward and simple style.
Thanks for watching! We still monitor it and have some plans brewing. Bring a parent kinda slowed down our output.
Don't know why but murphy's agrees with my stomack much more than Guinness so I'm more a murphy's fan. Draught murphy's in cork is unreal must make a trip soon
Had the pleasure of visiting in 2018. I personally was very impressed by Beamish in Cork.
limited edition, wont be available any longer soon? I poured my first glass, fabulous for 92 proof!
Honestly at this point IDK how limited it is. It's been out for probably 2 years now and doesn't seem to be going away. Not that I'm mad about that. I think it's better than Original and Red Bush.
I found this stuff locally on sale for 12.99 for 750m. I bought one bottle. Came back next day bought six more for same price. At that price I'd call it the deal of the century
Ohio put it on sale for $9.99 before Christmas. I bought 6 myself but gave 4 away as gifts. Amazing deals! Thanks for watching.
To me this tasted like a higher ABV wine. It also came through at times like a brandy or a cognac. For a single malt it has no malt flavors whatsoever. The Bushmills 10 was also a disappointment.
It's another bad whiskey in a fancy shaped bottle.
Tariffs is why Canadian is made in USA I do believe.
Yeah that's definitely not true.
I actually really like the MGP version of this bourbon. I was disappointed when I bought a bottle of their own distillate recently, which felt way thinner and lost that fruit flavor. I found a few bottles of the MGP product sitting dusty on a shelf and bought them knowing it was gone for good after the MGP stock runs out. Nothing fancy, but I just like it, every time.
Just picked this up for the first time, looking forward to it. Irish pot still is my favorite style whiskey, followed by bourbon, then smoky Islay single malts
Hope you enjoy it! They also make a really good single malt worth looking out for.
God, thank you for deliverance from wickedness and evil and from curses and cursing and thank you God for forgiving us of forbidden practices and acts that went against you. We love you God. We bless your holy name. Thank you for forgiveness In Jesus mighty name. Amen 🙏 🤍
IDK if he's reading UA-cam shorts comments for 30 second beer reviews...
Coors Banquet or Miller Lite
Banquet all day lol
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Bought mine last week in Kansas City, 8 year three months old. Smells like bourbon and taste is pecan with cinnamon, $27.
This is an interesting bottling to me. Recently got one of these and didn't like it upon opening. Both nosing and taste were off putting. Introducing a little air to the bottle seems to have opened it up. Love it now...
Thanks for sharing! It's a fairly underwhelming bottle for the age but it's also relatively cheap compared to most 12 years old Scotch
@@TheBarleyLads Yeah I agree there's not a lot of complexity to it. Just the same I didn't expect that there would be. I just found it weird how it seemed (to me) to change for the better so quickly after introduction to a little air exposure. The flavor profile is indeed simple but I like simple sometimes...
Just found a batch 4 $79
Really? What state?
Out of this world
My stepfather used to drink PBR, yet somehow, out of all the beer I've drank over the last 40 years, I have never tried it.
In terms of macro American lagers, PBR is great. I would choose this over Budweiser, Coors Banquet or Miller High Life. And it's hard to beat the price you typically find it for an any bar.
$35 a bottle is quite a bargain!
Agreed! Hard to find value anymore in Scotch and Irish. Apolitical take- the last time we had massive tariffs, prices spiked on foreign whiskey, so stock up on your favorites.
Had it. Kind a gross. I like pumkin head
Great review! Sounds like you got some dirt track racing going on in the background, love it! Cheers!
Absolutely did! Appalachia has many. Thanks for watching!
Near my hometown
Thanks for watching!
Is it in the same league as red breast or greenspot though... break me down some comparisons in a VS nature matr
Haven't tasted them against each other, but I'd say it's in the same realm of standard Green Spot. Lighter fruit notes, subtle but tasty palate. Whereas Redbreast is much more rich, dark fruits. For the price, Redbreast all day, everyday.
i love your videos
Thanks for watching!
Hey man. Just found your channel. I am a scotch drinker and every time I try bourbons I found that of putting licorice note. Dunno if it is coming from the rye or the barrel, cuz I can find it with some wheated ones too... Any ways, since in one of your videos you mentioned you didn't like that note, would you have a recommendation of an American whiskey or bourbon that is anice/licorice"free"?
Absolutely! I've don't recall experiencing that rather off-putting note with any products from Wild Turkey (except 1 Russell's single barrel), Old Forester, or Elijah Craig. I feel like it shows up more in younger products. But it very common in rye as you mentioned. What wheated bourbon did you try that you picked up that taste?
@@TheBarleyLads Makers 46. I've found that note in ER10 and Basil Hayden... The exceptions EH Taylor and Weller's
Surely you’ve got some kind of glass rather than a plastic beaker?!
We were staying in a fairly rustic cabin 🤷🏻
@@TheBarleyLads Fair enough.👍🏼
I thought that straight bourbon is usually a minimum of two year age and bottled in bond is four years age, but still a great video cheers.
Thanks for watching! To call it straight bourbon, it's a minimum two years aging in a barrel. But between 2 and 4 years, it must state the minimum aging time. So for example, Ancient Ancient Age from Buffalo Trace states on the neck it's minimum age of 36 months. Beyond 4 years you can just say straight bourbon without an age statement listed. And it can be any proof 80 or above. For Bottled in Bond, you're correct that it needs to be at least 4 years old. But it also has to be all grain distilled in a single season at a single distillery aged in a government bonded warehouse. You can blend barrels from the same season together but you can't blend in older or younger barrels. And it must be bottled at 100 proof. Among other stipulations.
Good review
Like your graphics!
Thanks for watching!
I’m a brand new whiskey drinker, I usually pick up Evan Williams BiB which I love.. I sent someone out to grab me a bottle but my local store ran out.. she grabbed me a bottle of this instead because the an employee recommended it.. hope I ran into a winner!
Each batch is going to be a little different because they're usually aged different lengths of time and they're master blender likes for them to be unique on their own. But I've tasted multiple matches and haven't been disappointed. Compared to EW BiB, this will tend to be sweeter because of the Lincoln County Process. Plus it's probably aged at least twice as long, giving it more time to pull sugars out of the wood.
I like the 101 Rye, But if I fine this as the lower price I will give it a try......
Good call! New video and one I happen to have currently on the bar at home!
It's a great pour. Thanks as always for watching!
Great to see a new review video, thanks lads 👍🏻👍🏻
Appreciate you following along!
A bit stronger than Original Jameson
Same proof but certainly a more intense, deep flavor
I tried it. It's not good.
Was going to get one, kinda on the fence 😉🥃👍 Cheers
It's a pass for me. For a cheap rye, check out Old Forester Rye.
It’s 18 here at Costco. That’s the reason I’m checking on reviews
That's an incredible price!
Olympics ae EVIL. AT one time they were amateur sports, then they became evil
But what do you think of the bourbon?
@@TheBarleyLads It looks like he has already tasted too many of it... EW SB is very good especially at this price. It can be considered a serious competitor to many brands that cost twice as much.
Sadly now that it's a Kentucky-only release, they've jacked up the price as well. Last time I was down there the cheapest I could find out for was $45, no longer making it the steal it was.
Go buckeyes
Taste like water, little yeasty, approved
Love this one, it's a hard to categorize spirit in my opinion, being a young, higher abv Irish aged in... bourbon barrels? Kind of an odd idea to me, but given the flavor for the price it's nothing to sneeze at. I mean the next best Irish is what Green Spot? That's like double the price where I am. Not sure why but this reminds me of another hard to categorize whiskey I love, Michter's American, which is essentially a bourbon but they age it in used bourbon barrels and it rockets it to something beyond anything falling under the classification of "bourbon" I've ever had that are even 3-4x it's price. Then again Michter's American is lower abv and harder to find. I'll have to pick up a bottle to compare how I feel about these two now. Either way definitely worthy to spend the money for couple ounces of this neat, or heck even just with some coke and a meal, it elevates a standard whiskey/bourbon mix drink. Cheers.
Thanks for watching! The majority of Irish whiskey and Scotch (and aged rum) are aged in used bourbon barrels because they're plentiful and cheap compared to building new oak barrels or sourcing wine/fortified wine casks. Even some Green Spot is aged in bourbon barrels while some is aged in sherry casks before blending. As for this whiskey, Prohibition is great for the price. I appreciate the higher abv because, as you said, it's a youthful spirit and it needs the proof. Otherwise it would probably be a pretty flat experience. And Michter's American is a phenomenal whiskey! Highly underrated and almost in a category on its own.
I LOVE IT
every beer drinker should have a beard
Not everyone can be so blessed 😂
Just moved to Tennessee and this is a pretty common cheap beer out here. Absolutely amazing stuff for the price
Pendleton whiskey is $19.99 midnight $ $36.00 . 1910 Pendleton $45 , Pendleton director reserve is a 20 year $200 bottle. I have had all of them. Really a great whiskey . I highly recommend
I found the KC to be bland.
If you can find it, they make at Cognac finished Knappogue 12 and it's phenomenal. I'll agree that in comparison, the regular 12 is fairly bland as it's only aged in used bourbon
