Hiiii Tuula!!! The basket is really beautiful ❤️. Your videos are informative & inspiring too. I wanted to ask you about the yarn I should use to make a shawl if I am going in the snow ❄️ region. Thank you 🙏🏻 so much!!! Love from India 🇮🇳.
@@Navaz1172 Thank you! For a snowy region I would use full or almost full wool or alpaca yarn for a shawl. It is easier to care for if you get something like superwash merino that doesn't get felted. Or yarns that are mainly wool but have 15-25% of polyester or similar to give them strenth and make then more easily washable.
Dear Tuula, Thank you for sharing…those wooden boards are a wonderful idea. I made a basket and gifted it, but it was definitely hard on my hands while crocheting 🧶 it could have been the use of chunky yarn and a large size hook for the first time. Take care and God’s blessings to you and your family and community 🙏🏽💜😻🐶🩷
You come up with the best ideas. I would love to make these for myself and gifts. Who wouldn't use a basket. Ill be on the search for these wooden bottoms. If i had the tools, i could make them myself. I adore you and your channel. Ive made lots of your items.
Thank you so much, happy to hear that you have made many of the things on my videos! Many craft stores sell those bottoms and I now added some Amazon links in the description, had forgotten to do that!
Thank you so much for this video. Especially going through all the trouble of trying different yarns to see how well they would work. I learned ALLOT. I mostly learned that i am not quite ready for basket weaving😂😂. Thank you Tuula.❤
Hi Tuula. I bought some of these wooden bases several months ago on Amazon. I never got around to doing anything with them. You have motivated me to get started on making some baskets. Thanks for all the tips. ❤🎅
Thank you, Tuula! This is very helpful. ☺️. I have several of these wooden bottoms that I got from Hobbii (some were even free, using my accrued points in the Points Store!). But I hadn’t used them yet because I wasn’t very confident how to properly start. Now I feel like I can do it. ☺️ I may glue down some cotton quilt batting, covered with pretty cloth, to make the inside base prettier. I’ll likely do that after the basket is made so I don’t inadvertently cover the holes. I love how you made the top, with the slip stitches in the front loop. That looks really nice! I also appreciated how you tried the different yarns, and the tips for knowing which to choose. Thank you again! Excellent tutorial!
I appreciate the tips you gave for working with these bases. This was a very interesting video and one I will watch again. I’ve never used them, but now I’m intrigued. Thank you!
Hi Tuula , how are you I’m still going to do my Bed curtains with old crochet like your door cover can’t wait but painting and redoing rest of house first painting and new blinds and curtain couch covers
Yes, like others have mentioned, Amazon has them, I forgot to put a link in the description - could still add them - and many craft and hobby stores sell them.
Many craft and hobby stores sell them, or you can get them in Amazon. I had forgotten to add links and was away for the weekend without a computer! I now added some links in the video description. A great week to you too!
Wow i always wanted to make a basket for a baby ,i think it's called "moses basket"but the hardest thing is making the upper part(the arc)i didn't know how to work the right stiches .I hope one day i will succeed.
There seem to be many different ways of doing a top for a Moses basket, also many videos if you search for Moses basket, hope one will be the type you prefer to make!
I have crocheted a bathroom mat from that mop yarn. I hated the fact that the yarn kept splitting, but I finished the project and use the mat. My first attempt at a bathroom mat was with t-shirt yarn, but it was too heavy and stiff. It became an unfinished object. I hold my hook just as Tuula does, like a pen, however, I think that if I could learn to hold it like a baby holds a spoon, it might be less hard on my hands. Tuula, thank you for the tip about using old fabric! I love making new things out of old "crap". Question: do you have a video on crocheting with raffia yarn? I would like to make a Fedora hat, but my crochet skills are limited to granny squares.
Yes, mop yarn splits but it's still useful for many projects and not as heavy as T-shirt yarn. Heavier yarns and cords can be hard on hands regardless of what way you crochet. Unfortunately I don't have a video where I use raffia, apart from one where I use it for a cord. But you use it like any chunky yarn that doesn't stretch at all.

Nice idea. Love the way you demonstrate things. I shall definitely try it shortly. Thanks for sharing. Love from India 🇮🇳 ♥️
Thank you! Hope you get to make one!

Thank you! You can make on later at some stage!
Thank you for a great tutorial on a new project. You are the greatest! ❤❤
Thank you so much!
Thanks Tuula that looks like fun. Well except maybe for the first round haha.
True, the start is a bit hard!
Thank you Tuula!

Thank you so much! You are right, the base doesn't look very pretty, I was also thinking of painting them. Hope you enjoy making your baskets now 💗

Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you will make some baskets before long!
What a beautiful basket. Love it.
Thank you!
@@TuulaMaaria You are so talented. Husband son and our daughter went for a long hike at the park. I am resting to get well hundred percent.
@@meowmeowf4916 Have a good rest and get better!
Very beautiful basket, thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
I definitely wanna make something with these someday!! Looks fun
Great, it is a quick way to get pretty baskets!
Thank you for this I have some of these ❤❤❤❤
Great, they are handy!
You could also use the cord with the stretchier yarn to give it more stiffness or even to add color to a plainer yarn.
That's true, a good idea! One strand could be cord and the others normal yarn. That would also be less hard on your hands.
Loved this video,,❤️🎄

Oh lovely, sounds like your house will be very beautiful!
Where do you get the boards? I've never seen them.
Amazon ?
Amazon has them.
Yes, like others have mentioned, Amazon has them, I forgot to put a link in the description - could still add them - and many craft and hobby stores sell them.
I bought some from Hobbii. They also have felt ones.
What would I search for? "Crochet wooden bass board" ?
I would love to try one of those. Where do you buy the wooden bottom? You always show us something so unique and useful. Have a great week 🤗

How col that your family weaves rugs. I enjoy my looms. I dont weave rugs anymore but I did for years.
I love weaving, it is so relaxing
Amazon has them in several sizes!
Yes, thank you, I now added some links in the description. I had scheduled the video several days ago and forgotten to talk about where to get them!

They carry the bottoms at Hobbii both plywood and Faux leather.
Thank you, good to know!
Where do you purchase the wooden base?
Look for basket weaving supplies. These are traditional woven basket bases.
Many craft stores sell them, and you have a large selection of all sorts on Amazon.
