Is this a design revolution? It is at the very least extreme innovation. Rock Island Armory has freshened up the much anticipated 5.0 with the 5.0E (enhanced). This is part one of what will be at least two parts in order to cover this unique new gun - enjoy!!

As a gun enthusiast, I think this pistol along with the Daniel Defence H9 would be two handguns I’d live to own…can’t wait for your review of the H9…great stuff as always. 👍🏻
Looking into getting the H9, but not sure how long it might take.
Seems odd they didn't go with a 1911 trigger given their background of being one of the biggest manufacturers of 1911s.
how would you integrate a 1911 trigger on striker fired handgun?
@@xcd87 Is this striker fired? I thought it was internal hammer fired?
9:48 you can see the hammer if you watch the vid... 18:27
Its not striker fired @jefferytillis8309
They wanted it to have modern controls, aka no manual safety, and modern safety mechanisms aka firing pin block, drop safety, and trigger safety. You really can't do that with the good old 1911 trigger package, at least not without redesigning the entire thing, and you end up spending resources to come up with a different thing, entirely anyway. So.. 🤷♂
You’ve been pumping out a lot of great content lately. Thank you!
Thanks! Looking forward to Part Two. Man, RIA makes some good lookin' guns!
Great video. This is one of the best channels for detailed, honest reviews.
I appreciate that!
Cool pistol but spending $2k for a Rock Island is not something I could ever do. So many options in that price range.
I'd love it if they started manufacturing these in Philippines to bring the price down.
Spending 2000$ on pistol is out of the question. I can travel
Very interesting design. Ive got to give it to them for the innovation. If this results as a reliable platform, I will most definitely look into acquiring one. Intriguing design, for sure. Looks like a fun shooter.👍
Great review, looking forward to part two.
Me too! :D🤠
Thanks for the video.
Yes please breakdown next thank you for the info.
Good review.
Unique firearm, but trigger pull and reset doesn't do it for me. I like the Canik Mete SFX pro's trigger much better.
Excellent review Justin Opinion!
That's why i like adjustable sights.
it is shooting low..
accuracy is good....but needs adjustuble sights
The only real exciting gun to arrive in years!
You're not wrong.
I enjoy your reviews. Quite precise just facts as you see them. Thanks. My bro bought me the gen 1. Had to be sent back due to stove pipes. Took at least 2 months. Went to the wrong facility. Does not like reman ammunition. Have not had a chance to put it through its paces yet. Too cold here in Maine. It is a bear to disassemble and back. A very nicely made firearm.
Nice review! Interesting pistol. I anxiously await part 2
Part 2 is done and coming soon. Thanks for watching!
@@JustinOpinionChannel Nice! Stay Safe Brother!
The inside slide cut is nice. Looks awesome. If they would of went hammer this would be great. The square barrel is a cool little new thing.
I was Really excited about this design last year and then it just didn't get much traction. There were some intial videos and then not much. I think it's going to take a better trigger, less cost and somebody to take it on as their competition gun if this design is going to become popular
It sounds really smooth when you’re running the slide, the profile reminds me a lot of a CZ(how slim the slide is and how it rides inside the frame), that thick extractor looks sturdy…
It is very smooth.
I have the original 5.0SP. It really shoots well. I’m a lefty and my only issue is a wish for a lefty mag release. I have Arthritis, and this gun is awesome!!!
Interesting gun
Like every part of it, beside the machine marks all over the barrel. My ocd would cause me to fix that by smoothing it out and polishing the barrel.
One thing I really appreciate with your video is you will take the time to understand WHERE the point pf aim 9n a gun might me.
Most reviewers just sssume all guns like a bulleye hold and it either shoots high or low.
I just feel like I'm learning how to shoot every day! :D
Great presentation.
The gun? No comment.
Great review. You know that shooters will.modify trigger to get reduction down to , I bet , 2 1/POUNDS. Nice pistol
Thanks for the review. At this point, I'm leaning more towards the Daniel Defense H9 both from a trigger standpoint and pricing. Have you reviewed that one yet?
I have not. Trying to see if I can get one for review... probably not anytime soon.
Very... 😎 SSSMMMOOOOTTTHH! 😎👌🤘 looking pistol. 🤘 ROCK ISLAND 🤘🍻
Don’t think many people would spend 2k on a Rock even though it may be worth it,
Been anxiously awaiting this review. This pistol is made in my home town and would love a gun with my town printed on the side
Yeah, that would be cool!
How's about a good ol' Townie Discount, while ur at it?😂
Good luck!
I bought the first run production as a resident of cedar city I’m proud of it. 222/300 serial number.
First run was only $1,000 too which was easier to swallow
@@loganrhodes1741 nice, I've got a friend who works at the plant. I'm hoping he gives me his employee discount lol. If you go to the range out at 3 peaks, maybe I'll see you shooting it and you can show me.
@@Moderndaycowboy74 I don’t make it out there very often no. I tend to head out north of town where I can take my kids and dogs or go walk for rabbits.
Air is a little more fresh where it’s less restrictive if you know what I mean. Utah BLM has spoiled me my whole life
I can't wait to get one. By the way what brand are those sun glasses? I've saw them in lot of your videos. They look awesome.
Dillon Optics.
@@JustinOpinionChannel thanks.
If this were a double/single action with a decocker or at least with a 1911 style safety, it would compete with CZ and other 1911s. Many places won't let you compete with something that doesn't have a safety.
I've never heard of a match that required a safety. That would be entirely dependent on the type of gun it is. But if so - it would be even worse than IDPA.
looks fun but expensive 🔫
Looks lime center hold would do it.
Nice work 🎉. What caliber is this
9mm - sorry if I didn't even specify that!
@@JustinOpinionChannel thanks
It's a CZ that shoots like a 2011 with the trigger of a Glock.
Not a bad mashup analogy, but I don't agree on the Glock trigger - it's way better than that. I'm being critical of it because for $2k competition shooters are going to want very light, short, crisp triggers and it's not quite there. But by no means is it like a Glock.
Combat rather than target sights. Appears the front sight blade covers the point of impact rather than the top edge bisecting the middle of the target.
Agree. Not my favorite, but learning what it is, is the most important!
ok call me crazy but what if they also ported the last .25" of the barrel for even more recoil reduction?
That would be crazy! Good crazy!
I just wish it were smaller. The size it what keeps me from wanting it.
It is a fun gun! Not EDC.
Clearly designed with competition shooters in mind - and in that game bigger is usually better.
Looks cool, that's 90% of the battle. Combat holds are trash though
Not my favorite sight hold either for open sights. Great for a red dot, but not irons.
Great review. I've heard nothing but bad about ria
Maybe just my imagination, but that gun seems to be sending them a LOT harder. The hits sound a lot harder as well. Anyone chronograph it yet?
Barrel is just under 5", so the ballistics will be on par with any 5" barrel. I used a variety of ammo, some of which might be warmer.
Please takedown 🤩
Flat recoil, wow
The E is for expensive. Admittedly, it is an interesting firearm, but unfortunately, they priced themselves out of the market. There are too many cool guns for the same or less money. 2k for a Rock Island is a hard pill to swallow for most.
Why didn't they call it 5.1?
Good point. Probably because I don't think the original 5.0 every really made it to market.
Anyone who'd pay 2k for anything rock island would make is gullible asf
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯🔫🔫☕️☕️
Once the cool factor wears off this is a gun that nobody will care about . Cost , parts , long term durability and any rock island lose their value immediately. 2 grand absolute waste of money . Can buy a tisas 45 , and 2 beretta 92s and ammo for that price .
This isn’t a gun people will shoot frequently. It’s a novelty gun for the occasional range session to impress buds. The consumers RIA is targeting aren’t going to care much about resale value.
Not a $2000 no thanks
Nope.
