I'm from French speaking country. Phil Collins made me love the English language and eager to learn it. Cos I wanted to know what all his songs were about. And thanks to him I'm an English teacher and passing on my passion for his music to my students and my lovely daughter. I first heard this song when I was 12 at that time I couldn't utter a word in English and didn't understand any of lyrics of his but I was already a fan and today being able to understand his lyrics it like I'm rediscovering his songs. So I love them more again. Love and respect to you Phil
1993. Written, Directed and Produced by Phil Collins. All Instruments played by him. After But Seriously and We can't dance. The Master. The Drummer. The Father. A little Man from England. Take me home Mr.Collins. Love you so much.
Yes 💯 Phil is a genius & he's multi talented. Yes he not ONLY played every instrument on this song & album, he also wrote/produced & mix/edited the whole album as well. He had NO HELP with this album whatsoever, he's Truly a Professional Army of One Musician🎶🎵💙🩵🙌🤘🤟😁
I could listen to Phil Collins and Genesis all day long and not get tired of it.Phil's voice is flawlessly amazing and his solo music and with Genesis never gets old.He is a true music legend too.
I doubt that you will remember me Phil, but I interviewed you for The Glebe and Western Weekly back when you were with Genesis when you came out to Sydney Australia. You were a true gentleman in every way, and it was such an honour to meet with you. I remember when they opened the door for me here you were doing what looked like meditation. Such a beautiful memory for me. Thank you so much, still a huge fan 🌹
Can't believe this album wasn't commercially and critically more successful. To my ears it it on par with all of his previous work, and the album beginning to end may be his best of all.
One of my favorite singers. This song can teach you a lot about life, law, etc. Seeing both sides of the story is important, a very rare skill. How many divorces could have been avoided, hurt on our kids? Yes, the blades cut deep for everyone.
I was homeless for over 10 years, now I have a reasonably good life, ( thank god) this song brings me to tears cause it's so true, we judge each other so ez. next time you all see a homeless person do me a favor and just say "hello".
It kills me to see homeless people. Especially veterans. I always wonder what happened in their life that lead them to homelessness. I'm so glad to hear you are doing better. God is so good. Take care and God bless.
I can honestly see why phil says this album is his favourite, each song gives me goosebumps especially survivors, we fly so close & we wait and wonder. this man is a Shere genius. If the phil collins haters of the world listened to his underatted material like that of this album people would be introduced to meaningful passionate music. So glad to have been brought up with him and his music, especially this album & ...But seriously. two albums close to my heart. Thankyou Phil, you don't know how much I respect and look up to you. God bless.
Totally inspirational, and to think some folks dismiss Phil Collins as a talent-less sack of cat vomit or whatever the heck kinds of insults they like throwing at him. Don’t get me wrong; I like bands such as Pink Floyd, Metallica, and others as well, but I also agree with whoever says “Good music is good music.” Collins’ beautiful music is just one out of many examples of that.
+_ Groudgil_ kao tao buddy. good on ye lad.yes, you can here that clearly. 'people looking for truth, we must not fail them now!'I did not fail them, the Cambodians, and, yes,...the KHMER ROUGE.We are firing. Follow if you like that. Or, you are your own master. enjoy.
I really like Phil Collins songs alot it touches my heart, I have been listening to it since I was 20,i would love 💕 you to share your own ideas with me about Phil Collins.
Saw him in Belfast 1994 on that tour and when this was played,we all knew the verse about conflict was about Northern Ireland and it sent a chill across the hall. Happy memories
"Ghetto kid grabs his shoulder Throws him up against the wall He says, "Would you respect me If I didn't have this gun? 'Cause without it, I don't get it And that's why I carry one"" Truely both sides of the story... goosebumps
This is a highly overlooked gem. It's like another day in paradise. It is based on real life situations. And it shows how much things have gone downhill since then.
I think this is Phil's most powerful song and the album Both Sides of course. Every sentence of the lyrics Phil narrates in this really hits anyone's feelings. It's amazing, thought-provoking and emotional.
There are so many situations that I don't understand, from my neighborhood to world affairs, and for which I wish there were solutions. I love how Phil puts these feelings to words in this song and so many of his others. Love always!!
I picked this album up from the discount bin at my local music store in 1995, and while I didn’t even care about the other songs on the album this song surely stuck in my mind…and I was just 9 years old then. Such a beautiful and definitely very relevant song today.
I feel blessed to remember driving around in the car with my father listening to the both sides album for hours and hours growing up. He passed away over a decade ago, but I still listen the album on a regular basis. One of my best memories ever and I still love listening to Phil Collins.
So true !! even in love relationships between men and women, when things turn to bitter, we really need to hear both sides of the story !! Amber Heard and Johnny Depp case is a perfect illustration of this song !!!
His lyrics and melodies are wonderful. Full of Hopes that let us about thinking on the way we have to notice the life. Thanks for everything Phil and God always BLESS YOU!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Geez, the lyrics send shivers up and down my spine... I'm glad I've never had the chance to listen to the whole LP, can't wait for the proper 1st listen.
This album wasn't appreciated enough. The deluxe edition is even better. It is Phil's favorite along with Face Value. I am with ya Phil, my two favorite as well. All are great but Both Sides was incredibly personal and beautiful.
"A neighbourhood peace is shattered, it's the middle of the night Young faces hide in the shadows while they watch their mother and father fight. He says she's been unfaithful, she says her love for him has gone And the brother shrugs to his sister and says 'looks like it's just us from now on'" Every time I hear this song, these lyrics give me chills down my spine and bring tears to my eyes; they hit a little too close to home. My parents (so far) are happy together, but as a young person living in a world where 1 in 3 marriages end in divorce, this is one of the biggest fears I have. This is an absolutely phenomenal song that really strikes at the core of many problems we have in the world today - that you always need both sides of the story before you can make up your mind.
Kelly Russell You are so right, Kelly. And even though this incredibly beautiful and emotionally gripping song came out back in 1993, we are STILL unfortunately facing a lot of those exact same problems as we did then, and this is 2018. So sad and it isn't right. We the people in this world need to make things better for each other and everyone surrounding us. Peace be with you.✌✌
A very very good album. Thanks for all Mr. Philip Collins, you're THE BEST. I love you too much, take care of yourself. From Paris, with all my love and Respect. Thank you so much.

Phil Collins was a musical legend. He gave pop fans "Both Sides Of The Story" three decades ago!
A truly amazing song !! - full of atmospheric power and intensity !!!
Phill collins is one of the greatest artist ever.
I strongly believe that 100 years from now people will still be enjoying Phil Collins and Genesis.
I'm still enjoying him, almost 40 years after I heard him for the first time as a kid.
1993. Written, Directed and Produced by Phil Collins. All Instruments played by him. After But Seriously and We can't dance. The Master. The Drummer. The Father. A little Man from England. Take me home Mr.Collins. Love you so much.
„We always need to hear both sides of the story“ - so true
A superb song!
The most underrated musician of all time...And the most underrated album ever...
Phil did all the instrements by himself on this album. love it
Good morning to all. Good .morning Phil Collins

I could listen to Phil Collins and Genesis all day long and not get tired of it.Phil's voice is flawlessly amazing and his solo music and with Genesis never gets old.He is a true music legend too.
Message is better than the voice for me. Being a voice for change and getting paid doesn't happen often.
Classic though.

A great memory for you to have.
I still have the CD I bought when I was living in Karlsruhe Germany serving in the Army 1990 ❤
Can't believe this album wasn't commercially and critically more successful. To my ears it it on par with all of his previous work, and the album beginning to end may be his best of all.
To me,it is.
several people in the middle east needs to hear this song a few times ......

Paul Whitehead I love you for loving my favourite song
This is his best album
I agree about 'both sides' what a magic record! You should read his recent autobiography 'Not Dead Yet'. Brilliant insights.
There's never been a need for food and entertainment critics. So there's no point in taking to heart anything they say or write.
I saw the tour in 92. It was fucking ridiculous it was so great.
Best author, composer, singer and drummer OF THE WORLD.
Nobody can match him!
I’m an unconditional fan of Phil Collins!🇫🇷💣❤️
I forgot all about this song. Haven't heard it in 30 years. 90s Phil was good stuff.
Phil Collins is an awesome icon
Legendary Phil Collins with thought provoking lyrics and video. Agreed, his voice is an instrument of its own.
An uncomfortable video to an uncomfortable song. We STILL need to hear both sides. Thank you, Phil.
A fine track. Powerful direct and meaningful. One of his best. Still cuts it 25 years on.
The verse at 4:00 touches me the most, made me cry the first time I heard it. Truly an amazing song.
Hab ewig nach dem Lied gesucht. Es wird nie im Radio gespielt und wenn man googelt werden immer nur die bekanntesten vorgeschlagen...
"we always need to hear both sides of the story" So True. .
yes we do cuz everystory has both sides i love song i hold this song to my heart
Yes we need to hear both sides of every story. But there is only one that holds the truth.

LONG OVERDUE!!! It's beyond disrespectful and insulting considering some younger and less talented people already there. I hope it won't be too late.
Should have been in a long time ago. Times 2.
he was already there, as a drummer for Genesis
Great point !!
PHIL YOU ARE SO GIFTED AND BRILLIANT. I AM SO GLAD I GREW UP LISTENING TO YOUR MUSIC. I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH. GOD BLESS YOU.

both him and his band have a number of songs about social issues, another day in paradise, no son of mine, land of confusion this song
This needs to be played to the media
I couldn't agree more.
Some great Peter Gabriel vibes he has here. Phil is such a legend and an awesome musician!

Hello 👋
I really like Phil Collins songs alot it touches my heart, I have been listening to it since I was 20,i would love 💕 you to share your own ideas with me about Phil Collins.
A song about man's inhumanity to man. Human's still never learn from history that continues to repeat itself.
Saw him in Belfast 1994 on that tour and when this was played,we all knew the verse about conflict was about Northern Ireland and it sent a chill across the hall. Happy memories
"Ghetto kid grabs his shoulder
Throws him up against the wall
He says, "Would you respect me
If I didn't have this gun?
'Cause without it, I don't get it
And that's why I carry one""
Truely both sides of the story... goosebumps
this song was written for exactly right now, 2022, come Jesus come.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that all the instruments on this track were played by Phil Collins!
Unbelieveable!
Wow!
All 2 of them. :)
Amazing, simply amazing!
This is a highly overlooked gem. It's like another day in paradise. It is based on real life situations. And it shows how much things have gone downhill since then.
What a song and what a man.
I think this is Phil's most powerful song and the album Both Sides of course. Every sentence of the lyrics Phil narrates in this really hits anyone's feelings. It's amazing, thought-provoking and emotional.
Yes. It's very provocative to run away the soldiers with gun machines. It is probably cool from teens point of view, but dangerous a little bit. 😄
Seeing and hearing this man somehow brings me relief and a reminder that everything is manageable with patience and a realistic point of view
One of the most gifted musicians these islands have gifted to the world. I only saw him play live once, man, it was truly awesome.
There are so many situations that I don't understand, from my neighborhood to world affairs, and for which I wish there were solutions. I love how Phil puts these feelings to words in this song and so many of his others. Love always!!

Great lyrics are so true but so hard sometimes to act in the correct manner.

My college years most fav song and artist, those were the years of my happiest moments.
I doubt you'll ever read this Mr. Collins but you're fantastic. Gr8 song writer. God gave u a gift. 💛🎁
There are indeed both sides of the story!

I literally haven't heard this song since 1993, but it always stayed with me. It's great to finally see the video.

Agreed. The chorus in particular stayed with me and I only recently rediscovered the song. Brilliant!
Both sides of the story. very deep song . totally love it.brings alot of memories bout my dad, thanks for introducing me to real music as a child.
