Thanks Roger for taking me on an awesome adventure this was the best fishing trip I’ve ever done 👍
Thanks Jett, Glad you enjoyed it, we had a great time!
Well done Jett👏
As a kid I cut my fishing teeth catching mullet at the Patawollunga in SA. We used to buy mince and they went crazy over it. When the mince was all used up, we used the pink paper the mince came in and caught them on that. So much fun. I'm 74 now and I still love catching mullet.I hear people say they can't c catch mullet - they must be using hooks that are too big and line that is too heavy. Another good vide Roger. There's nothing better than introducing kids to fishing - they learn so much.
Thanks Albert, was that beef mince?
For the youtube experts a little tip : " this is an instructional video " if your looking for 1000 lb tuna catchs , move on 🎉😂 keep up the great work rodger 👍👍👍
What a great instructional video Roger……love fishing with the “younger brigade” especially when they are hooking and having so much fun. As they say Roger…..we need more tackle boxes and less X boxes.
100% Mark, Glad you enjoyed it
Growing up in Florida we would chum with oats purchased from feed store and we cut up white rubber worms in small pieces and bait 3 or 4 hooks spaced around 8 to 10 inches apart . The worm pieces won’t fall off like bread. We always went home with a huge haul.
Great to see young folk getting into the fishing . . . way to go, Jett.
Thanks 👍
Thanks
Hello Roger, I am from India and I have been following your videos and you are one great teacher when it comes to fishing and of course, catching beach worms. Please bring in more young boys in your videos it will motivate others around the world.
Also, the little gentleman says "yea" in his every reply, it is really cute.
Hi from Australia 😊🎣
The old bull and the young calf . Love it 🥳
Where’s the bull and the calf, are you on drugs or what. I can see my shirts on the close line and dirty dishes in the sink, oh I better scrub the toilet my boyfriend is coming around for some good old hokey pokey. Nice one
We used to use dough. Just some flour and water with some vanilla essence for some scent. Could also use a couple of mashed up anchovies from a tin with the oil they come in. Make it reasonably dry and if it dries out too much just add a little water. Stays on the hook really well. Still do it when I come home to visit family. (Lake Macquarie).
Also can catch bream and leather jacket with it. Fun way to get bait! 👍😀
Thanks for sharing!
Jeff is a dead set champion. Thanks for the vid guys, I look forward to more adventures into the future.
Thanks
Great to see a young man fishing 🎣 rather than playing on a device 👍
Absolutely
Thanks
Gotta love when the local has fish like mullet and gars.
Awesome to see the younger generation fishing
It sure is
I used to catch mullet as a little kid in the river off the wharf. A handline, a tiny, long-shanked hook, and bread crusts. By the time the crust had softened enough to slip off the hook, the mullet had bitten.
Thanks Roger and Jett! I'll be checking out the channel!
You both make a great team, keep up the good work.
Great stuff Roger!🎉
The young fella is a real pro well done Jett and good on you Roger for supporting him and his channel.👍was hoping he had a big flathead at the end.
Yes, but it was exciting anyway.
I loved this segment and I hope you and Jett do another segment. Cheers.
Great going Jett
Well done.
Can I suggest when you get a fish on keep your rod tip up at say 1pm / 2pm as this will keep the tension on the line and the rod taking the surges / tension out of the line.
Good tip! Thanks Lee
Learning so much ! love this collab ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
YAY NEW VID
thanks Roger I really enjoyed that video, watched it during my lunch break, and was there relaxing with you guys, ps jets a very good boy, his dad should be very proud 😊
Roger what a good pal to wet a line with.
Awesome video Roger love this style of fishing great lesson shows you can still go fishing and be out of the wind and still catch a great fish 😊
Thanks Reg
Great Roger, lovely to see your young friend loving the passion. Thanks jett your a champion. See you on the water.
Thanks 👍
Great vid this one! Your guidance with your down to earth nature is great for up and comers like Jet, (and even my old self to be honest!) Just subscribed to Jet! 👍👍👍
I learn also with this method 45 years ago and still enjoy.❤😊😊
I caught my last land base snapper on garfish also .. great vid Rodger love the content
Hi Roger and Gday from sunny Queensland , top vid this one , cheers mate
Awesome video Roger & Jet 🤙🏻
Keep that rod tip up Jet, let the rod be a shock absorber keep you connected 👍🏻
I used to live in Gordons Bay, South Africa and there is a small boat harbour there called Harbour Island. When the tide is up you can catch dozens of mullets there fishing off the the pier using bread as bait. Even little children catch them. I have move 80 kms inland now and miss the fun.
I'm just ' catching ' up on this Rog. So good. What a fine young man . He probably has great parents.. I've been fishing the east coast for 60 years. Everything you say is true knowledge. (that I take for granted now) just lovin' it. Ta.😊😊
Thanks 👍
Well explained Roger ..You gave jet enough te to think ..
Yep
Great video guys
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi there some nice catches well done to both of you 👍 take care ❤️
Love how the birds get the bread you threw in to float was having a great laugh love your time with jett too
Thanks so much
What a sweet lad. im very jealous of you both as im stuck in england. going to a beautiful spot to fish reminds me of the best of my youth
Thanks 👍
Mullets are great eating fish. Raw, pan fried, baked, smoked, they are delicious. Good bait, too 😃
You got that right!
Another brill' video. I expect you know or have heard luminous tape, a good one, works very well on camara.
Great to watch a awesome fisherman doing his thing. Well done Jett. We may have a new contender for best fisherman on the south coast. Sorry Roger
Thanks
"Gone from exciting to hating this " hilarious ! Great vid btw !
Thanks TJ
Dear Mr Osborne,
Excellent video, we saw it as a family.
Could you make a video about sabiki one day if possible.
It is an easy and fun technique for children and easily catch fish.
Thank you very much. 🙋♂️
Hi Roger, Great video again!! Mullet are definitely a fascinating and enjoyable fish to catch. Just wandering if this method works when you see schools of large mullet circling in very close. In my local area I see huge schools of mullet at upward to 45cm upstream of my local river.
Very interesting fishing spot, friend.
Thank you for sharing the information, keep it up brother
Thank you, I will
Growing up I was always told Mullet were trash fish even thought we fished them for bait and to eat. We set gil nets then threw cast nets I'm getting close to 40 now and have never seen anyone here catch mullet on rod and reel locally in the FL panhandle. I've got to give this a shot.
Boas amigo Roger, grande abraço aqui deste lado do mundo 🐬✌️
Great fun fishing !!
I always struggle to keep bread on the hook for more than a few seconds at a time must give it another go soon
It works, I use bread often, but it is a one bite bait
🎣 try Natural cotton wool, it works better in dough,! 🎣
Yeah!
Hi Roger, great to see you there. Looks like the place is in Wonboyn
In capetown the cape coloureds dry them and call them bokkoms.
Tasty like sea biltong
so nice to see a keen young lad on here at his age was float fishing in English reservoirs and crappy Thames river
in NZ we call leaders a trace
could you make dough, flour bread milk
Super impressive restoration. I have a similar 1950 model which requires a new balance staff, crystal cover, servicing and polishing. Kindly advise. Best Regards
Roger.. ure just a big kid.. bless U mate..
Thanks
Great 👍👍👍😊
Thank you 👍
Great 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Jetts last name wouldn't be Worsteling by any chance? Great vid Roger. I want to take my grand son fishing, this would be ideal. 👍
Roger, I bought a $50 dollar smoker from Bunnings and some applewood. The smoker looks like a 20 litre drum.
Aussie Seafood House told me Mullet were the absolute best to smoke. They have been delicious.
Thanks, Sounds great!
Yes smoked Mullet dip with cream cheese and chives on a bickie is really nice!
I see smokers all over Syd outside office blocks
Great job Jett - only one small piece of advice - treat the smallest of fish with the same care and attention as bigger fish - release them gently in the water rather than tossing them - better for the fish & will get you the reputation of the best of fishermen! 🤙
Great work boys 👏😎🎣🌈🪃🦘
Roger -🗣️
Kid - yeah 🤠
Those flat tail or sand mullet your catching there good eating, but the bull mullet I wouldn't give you 2 bob for them other then bait
Kids a bloody expert! Recon he could teach Roger a thing or two! 😂
Roger, you are a natural. You would make a great TV personality. You could have your own TV show on one of the main networks.
I have no idea that this works or not (I don't fish with bread/dough), however, many years ago, I read or heard that working some cotton wool into the bread/dough mix helps marvellously in keeping the bait on the hook.
Sounds right Bill
🎣 yes, use Natural cotton wool, 🎣
A way to prepare bread burley which avoids feeding the pesky seagulls. Blitz up some stale / dried bread in the food processor. Take the breadcrumbs to your fishing spot and mix 50 / 50 with dry sand. Add a little water and then you can throw clumps into the water. The wet sand will help give you distance. The cloud of wet breadcrumbs will attract the fish and, sadly, the seagulls will go hungry. 😀😮💨
Thanks for the tips!
Let's play a drinking game every time the kids says yep have a shot drunk by 15mins in lol
If you want to see how good you are at fishing for mullets and other fish come to Perth. Rockingham Area and only during the day for 3 days in a row and during the day. Bag out on mullet and tommy rough. It’s the hardest place in all of Australia to catch fish during the day and that’s why only a handful of UA-cam videos are posted and they never bag out. 3 days straight from 8am to 5pm.
"a little bit older..."😄
Paternoster rig works with mullet and blackfish sometimes way better than floats because quicker hook up
Thanks for the tip
Making a dough with flower and a couple of other smelly ingredients, is another option.
❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
was this filmed during this current may-june period or was this during summer?
Only a few weeks ago, it was an amazing day
Hi Roger, Just a question. What size PVC pipe do you use for Rod holders? 40mm looks small but 50mm looks big. thanks for the videos.
Go to bunnings and buy a 50mm PVC tube x 1000mm long. Cut one end at 45 to 60 degree angle approx 150mm long.
At the other / straight end drill a hole in the tube and you can install a key chain circle clip to the tube that will allow you to use an aluminium carabener to clip to your wading bag.
You can get all these from bunnings
I will have to check but I think 50mm is better
Yeah yep
👍
Jet is going to be an old man before he gets to fish with all the yakkin
We had a great time, no rush
Don't talk bad about Roger
hey it might not be nice but its true and very funny xD
Great material Roger !
😂 ease up!
The Mullet are reminding me of Jack Smelt of the West Coast of the United States of America.
I love the awkwardness
Hey Roger can you clarify legal size for poddy mullet and it says you can only use for live bait in nsw
Don’t worry about size, plenty around
@@Dave-ww5tl tell that to fisheries, got to be under 15cm in nsw and can be used for live bait only
To Cach molet you can only use bread o nly
Hi.where this spot please
Like fishing but I don't have some this flooter
What lake?
Hi
Hi there
Roger, You asked at the end of the video if we had learnt anything. The answer is Yes. I learnt you are no longer the Guru, young Jett is. You could have knocked me over when he said he had a You Tube channel. I know where I'll be watching from now on.
Please unsubscribe me!!!!
My kids started fishing at about 3 yrs. Never once have they said they were bored.
which lake were you fishing at?
Lake Bathurst
We call that bread, Texas toast
IS THERE A SIZE limit {sorry caps}
yea?
Best berley day old bread stick less than $1 crumbled finely with a little fish oil.Same time for a week your own honey hole money back guarntee killer on lakes fresh or salt.Stay tuned for best cheap bait fishing outing berley bait less than $3 Would like to talk to other fishers that catch fish the real way with bait and a more relaxing time and get a feed.Good old stories like carrion up a tree over a hole.Catching blood worms in mangrove mud .Shrimp by a fish cleaning area the number 1 bait.I am not on you tube but willing to share locations times and methods way before GPS Just visual triangulation
Anyone but any chance do a yes count
Hello sir and hello to little brother. I have tested at least 200 different types of bait, soft, hard, live and every sort of flour bait in cluding peanut butter and all sorts of things. Out of all the thing that worked the best are normal spoon lures and diamond jigs "silver/steel" color to be specific ie kastmaster spoon. Nothing matches these two and you will never come home empty handed.
Thanks for sharing
Love your content Roger but just wanted to point out how HARMFUL bread can be to ecosystems and the different speices which live in those waters.
Please don't premote using bread as it really sets a bad example and not least for the younger generations.
Cheers love ya work.
Hi, do you know who i am?
Yeah, your you
So when you say a "lake", do you mean an estuary? A lake to me means freshwater. 🤔
Let’s just say a big body of water, is that better.
I thought you meant the hair style by just looking at the thumbnail. How come Aussie kids love mullet so much? Hmmmm...
I thought you were Russell Coit
He is, look again, this time with your goggles on
