He was always like this but it was buried under the pursue of attention and drugs but it if wasn't for that we wouldn't even no who he was
I'm so happy for him to emerge from all of that chaos and make a good life for himself. Being a part of that Jackass crew really took its toll on a lot of people, especially him. It would have been so easy for him to waste all of that and throw his life away, and that's actually exactly what he was doing for quite a long time. I'm so happy to see him healthy. He's also clearly a smart dude.

Steve-O has somehow morphed into such an amazing person that he can be mature about a very tasteless joke. And don't get me wrong, I like tasteless jokes as much as anyone with an actual sense of humor, as long as they're done correctly (I laughed at Gilbert Gottfried's 9/11 joke and subsequent launch into the Aristocrats). But Amy's joke wasn't even funny, it was just cruel. And seeing Steve-O's face, when he's obviously trying not to react, but that in itself is the reaction and you can just tell how much he didn't appreciate it, that went beyond typical "roast" humor (which often itself isn't even that funny and is more about shock value).
What if Dave Chappelle had said it? For starters, he wouldn't have. But if he did, I still wouldn't find it funny, because the joke itself isn't funny. And while there's plenty to complain about Amy's delivery of various jokes, that wasn't even an issue here. Maybe Bob Saget or Norm McDonald could have pulled it off, but that's still not a joke I could imagine either one of them making, not to a person like Steve-O who is sitting right there. Imagine Norm making that joke about OJ Simpson during a Weekend Update segment, and now I can see it potentially being funny, but in the context of that roast with Steve-O sitting there, Norm probably would have considered that to be lazy and unfunny. But that's par for the course for Amy's material (even though she probably didn't even write that joke).

@@shmoeg There's a massive difference between a joke of questionable quality and written for shock value, and one that isn't funny, isn't delivered in a particularly funny way, and is so intensely cruel that you're basically telling the entire room that this person, who is sitting there in front of everyone, is so worthless that their death would be a joke compared to one of their good friends who tragically (despite the fact that it was his own fault for being a total dumbass) died.
Or to sum it up in dumb terms, one joke is potentially funny but also potentially controversial, and the other one is just cruel and unfunny. And that's the real crime here: being unfunny.
Just to reiterate a point that may not be expressly clear: Amy's joke was unfunny, and cruel. But it also relied on the death of Steve-O's friend, Ryan Dunn, in order to make it work. Regardless of Dunn being an idiotic asshole, this was a dude who was clearly affected by his death. It's just so damn inappropriate and such a huge reach for a dumb, single roast joke, It's like the embodiment of everything that is wrong with roasts.
Lots of people could learn from Norm McDonald's roast of Bob Saget. Norm didn't want to insult him, so instead he read a bunch of non-funny jokes from a 1940's joke book. It was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen at a roast, and so heartwarming because Norm had so much respect for Bob that he turned the format on its head. To the credit of the toxic "roast" format, all of the dumb audience members didn't get it and none of them laughed at the very funny jokes. It was just too intelligent for them to grasp. As is the norm for Norm.

Honestly the only people immature in this whole scenario were the fans making this a bigger thing that it was. Amy is insufferable but her roast was good...the other male comedians on stage acting outraged have said worse about eachother, natural disaster victims, heck, even their own spouses. That roast was honestly like a villain origin story and these goofy fans are the reason netflix doesn't have ratings anymore.

Furthermore, Ryan wouldn't be dead (or his innocent passenger) if he'd not tried to be a hero speeding in his car (again) while under the influence. He made a mistake. Over and over again. And killed someone other than himself.... THAT'S the real tragedy.
Dunn was fucking reckless and a raging alcoholic. As much as I liked him because he was really such a kind soul, he had a huge problem and never had a handle on it. On top of that, he was a notoriously bad driver and should NEVER have owned the car that he was driving that night, let alone driven it on public roads, let alone drunk. Even when he was sober he was wrecking cars left and right.
As tragic as his loss was, it was all his fault AND he killed another person in addition to himself. So we shouldn't act like this was some kind of tragedy, this was DUI manslaughter x2. Dunn's legacy will always be, and should be, tarnished.

I don't see why this was one of the most controversial Comedy Central Roast moments. I mean, yeah, it was below the belt, but jokes were made about Rob Lowe being a statutory rapist and Pete Davidson's dad dying on 9/11. On that same roast Steve-O's talking about, jokes about Charlie Sheen beating women were a dime a dozen. I've kept up with the roast religiously, and I don't think I ever saw backlash as loud as that against Amy Schumer for this joke. I don't blame Steve-O for his ambivalence and soreness about it since I would probably feel worse in those circumstances, but as far as everyone else outside of the Jackass family is concerned, it just seems like selective faux outrage. They're very happy for comedy to do acrobatics over the line of decency until they're not.
And I don't care about Amy Schumer or want to come to her defense. I just think the discourse was disingenuous and wish people would be a little more consistent. Like, you can excuse jokes about statutory rape and 9/11 and domestic violence, but THIS is where it gets too mean? And somehow Amy Schumer is a worse person than Mike Tyson, who is literally a convicted rapist and only agreed to do the roast on the condition that no one joke about that? Okay.

The best most talented part of Metallica died in a terrible bus accident in the 80s. RIP Cliff. Also no hate against Kirk. But holy hell Lars is so fucking average as a drummer. @PlatypusPlessisLips Im just saying there were people that cared about him. Yes, he himself might not have been the greatest man, but i dont like talking shit about people when their death affected people like that. Cause he meant a lot to quite a few people.
