Not mentioned is the detent ball sitting under the safety. Carefully lift off the safety and place the new one in place. Best to put the shotgun on a table covered with a large white towel in case the detent drops off.
Perfect example of a video to take with a grain of salt. The bit i made like his worked very very well! And then when the safety switch was detached the safety mechanism promptly fell into my gun necessitating removal of the trigger group... So...i saved no time in the end.
@@wm17959 Well there is that, so I still gotta thank you for the video. Still saved me from that I guess. imo that safety was a liability in its stock form. Glad I replaced it.
I had to remove the safety off my 590A1 a few months ago because my son-in-law wasn’t strong enough to flip it forward lol, I cut a couple coils off the spring to make it lighter for him, worked great. I’ve got no idea why they’d make it a non removable screw.
@@wm17959 now that you have the correct screwdriver bit, you should cut it down, and make a video of it because evidently it’s a common problem and it might help a lot of folks. I figured it was just my 590A1.
I had the same problem the first time I did it. If it's possible to take it apart and put it back together you might get it to work. That's what I had to do
EXCELLENT idea and execution of it. Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you

Nice job man. I generally don't like plastic parts either
Thank you!
Made one of these myself using a Dremel. Worked great. Fantastic idea IMO and is now a standard tool in my gunsmith kit. Thanks!
I'm glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback

That actually happened to me as well, but at least I was able to get the screw out without hitting the gun with a hammer

Or you could go buy a “Isomax eazypower get it out #6” tool….Part #88243 I did two mossberg 930spx’s and it took 10 minutes each one…👍

I was thinking of cutting the spring down as well, and I may still do that. I find it is kind of hard to cooperate, even with the new switch.

I would like to buy one of your patterns, is this possible?
Hello Robb. Which pattern are you referring to? My email is wm17959(a)hotmail.com
