    The talent in just your eyesight, let alone your fingers. Is so precise in the pressure that is placed while handling your tools. Like a violinist that plays each note and builds on the tone as well as the softness.
    That tells the story so beautifull. Very awsomely done. A top notch craftsman.

    Just another thing: When you buy a new punch, its conical surface and edge are rough so it sticks to the leather. Recommendation: the edge of the punch and its conical part should be polished before use and as a result it will come out of the skin much more easily. Therefore, I sanded the conical parts and edges of all my punches with a rapidly rotating felt disc with a polishing paste wax on the surface. Since then, the punch has almost been pushed out of the leather goods. I am a saddler and harness maker-teacher in Europe. I learned a lot from your video. Thank you for that.

I’m nowhere near your level of abilities, but it’s inspiring for me to see what master craftsmen create. Gorgeous work without commentary. Personally, I can’t talk about what I’m doing while I’m doing my leatherwork, so I would have to film in a similar manner. Too many concussions. Lol. The music choices & everything was superb. A fantastic job!! I was taught to never dye before carving and tooling bc the grain won’t pick up the impressions nicely. Your belt seemed to take the impression very well, so that was a pleasant surprise. I appreciate you sharing your work, I got to learn a thing or two for sure. I’ll definitely watch more of your videos.

    • @wm17959
      @wm17959  7 місяців тому +1

      I appreciate the compliment, thank you. It's true that the leather doesn't stamp as well if you put the dye on first, but I'm using the alcohol based dye, which is a little harder to work with than the oil based. I find it's hard to get good results if I put it on after, but one way to get around that would be to use an airbrush. I've seen people using airbrush to put on the dye and the results are very nice.

    • @wm17959
      @wm17959  4 роки тому +1

    Wonderful and beautiful work.
    Little tip from a gunsmith, chalk your files before using, helps prevent them from getting clogged @20:46 and makes it easier to card them for cleaning when finished. The chalk fills in the deep part of the valleys making it so metal doesn’t get wedged in there, thus easier to clean out with a wire brush. Simple blackboard chalk works perfectly, though Brownells seems 1” sticks. But the sidewalk chalk works perfect too.
    Keep safe and keep up the amazing work, would love some stuff made one of these days,

Your acute concentration and intricate craftsmanship have my respect. You are an artist more than an artisan, wm17959, and your work is truly a labour of love. @@wm17959 Thank you for responding! I’ve watched your video several times. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship! I also liked how you broke out the video with the “western movie” clips. I tried to find your website to see if you sold a belt like this. I know it would be expensive, but would you consider making a belt for a customer (me)? I would obviously give you a substantial deposit or whatever you required. I wouldn’t need the fake rounds however, as I would put real rounds in the belt.

My email is david.stepeck@att.net, perhaps you could email me and we could discuss the possibility of you making me a belt and compensation?
