The all runes is huge, what stopped me playing was getting stuck on alts when a BIS rune required a full group to complete but by then no one was running them
This x10! I loved SoD and started it with friends who fell off over time. I wanted to continue but so many rules involve a group or doing a dungeon. Some of the hardest runes I remember getting was on my Pally and Mage. I wanted to keep going but when I started to hear all the stuff you needed to do for the next set of runes I simple called it quits annoyed I never fully leveled my Pally...but maybe now....
All the runes from the start makes me really want to come back and give this a go. Felt left behind by them from phases to phase and resented going back and getting them, equally some of the dungeon only ones became really hard to get when everyone else had moved on and I was coming back. This is great!
it was shitty even in phase 2....like the whole point of the runes would ahve been to feel the difference playing and leveling and you only got them at higher levels in phase 2...was super annoying.
Honestly, it was amazing and stupid all at the same time. BUT it brought the player base together, much like 2019 Phase 2 pvp. SoD showrunners have just unfortunately been retail driven and they fully lost touch with how classic version players FEEL
I really enjoyed phase 1, was a lot of fun when ashenvale was a huge pvp battleground. genuinely enjoyed retail for the first time in years then it kicked in, the retail audience that only wants perfect meta specs and demands you to be past content to actually get into it. The playerbase drove me off originally. pugs are dead unless you are a meta chaser and thats just not healthy. back to private servers. they haven't been infected by this awful brain rot yet
I've been playing SOD since release, and it's been a lot of fun. I run a guild on crusader strike US and I really think Blizzard has done a great job with this AQ phase. If you are thinking about coming back I would recommend it, especially with the rune changes.
As a Player who has played private servers off and on since 2014, raiding in different capacities, and playing 2019 Classic up through AQ40, I returned in Phase 4 and have enjoyed it since. Yes, there are a lot of things still that I think Blizzard needs to fix in order to get closer to the fabled "Classic+" we want to see someday, but the direction of the development has been very nice. It still feels like Vanilla, but it definitely is more enjoyable to play than baseline vanilla at end-game. I do wish they'd do more during the leveling process since, everyone treats the level up raids as ignorable, and incursions really harmed the leveling process while they were still repeatable more than once per day. However, the game is on track for a good quality end-game experience, and it's actually not that hard to pick up things. Anyone else who tells you otherwise would probably only be happy playing Era/Anniversary anyway. Additionally, the raiding scene is actually still quite active. As a guild leader myself, I can tell you that people are enjoying the vibe since Hard Mode is mostly viewed as optional due to it being not necessary to enjoy the game. And I'd argue that more people can play the content since it's designed for 10 and 20 player groups per raid, rather than 20 and 40 which tend to be the true raid boss in normal classic more than the actual content itself. There was a lot I missed personally in SoM since that was out during TBC, as a lot of people did, so it's nice to experience what feels new to a lot of us.
I know that getting the runes automatically is huge, positive change. But it is kind of funny how if this is how SoD functioned from the beginning. What did this seasonal server give us at the end of the day? A couple retuned 5 mans into raids, and optional difficulty sliders for end game raids? Like the point of season of discovery was supposed to be "discovering" these new runes, and it quickly became one the worst parts of the server. Very strange that at the end of the day we spent over a year on a server that promised new content, and the only truly new content we got was the dungeon in ashenvale and this upcoming scarlet raid. While this server was not bad by any stretch I think it was ultimately fairly underwhelming in retrospect. It's crazy how Blizz just gets to enjoy infinite hype for their games, the loss of players shortly after the release of their products is not a result of "hype wearing off." It's cause their product is disappointing, it fails to meet expectations every single time but people still keep giving them chances, which is good, we want a good experience that's all we want. If you want a good vanilla+ experience please for the love of god just okay turtlewow, it's higher quality, vanilla mindset content, and it's free. It's just a better vanilla product in every single way.
To be fair, they also did a ton of retooling and reitemizing in the game. Just a cursory look at the difference in set bonuses from vanilla to SoD will show you. I for one like how ele shamans actually had a set bonus that helped them rather than just the one set for resto.
While pve content wise you are somewhat correcty They did introduce stv pvp event, quests, completely revamped tier set bonuses, new items and new class/role combos. SoD got a massive hit during P3 sadly, however it feels like it is recovering now. I can’t speak for Turtlewow, but I did hear good things about it.
Yeah… I would definitely not recommend Turtle WoW. Fraction of the active players/raiders and you have to deal with playing on the worst client ever made in WoW. I know some people don’t mind but after playing official for years, the quality of the client is a deal breaker for me and the add-on support just isn’t there for 1.12. Turtle has never really improved the gameplay experience of the classes and balanced the meta like SoD did.
What a breath of fresh air to hear someone speaking positively about SoD! It never deserved all the hate it got. Runes are so freaking cool. You can be a Frost/Fire hybrid Mage in a way you never could before which is pretty fun in pvp. Grab mostly Frost Talents with Impact from the Fire tree with the Living Bomb rune and it's insane. Throw points in Frostbite as well. You can have a separate pair of boots to rotate in the chrono heal soon as combat drops. High skill ceiling gameplay but pretty nutty in BGs.
I was a GM on WG horde. Lost pretty much every raider (20 out of 25) to classic fresh. Now we’re over there. I think the problem is that, yes, all of this stuff is nice, but there’s a defined end date coming up while anniversary is going into TBC. We were all hoping that this season would be extended longer and expanded upon more. I have 47 days played in SOD. I loved it, but have moved to classic fresh.
My problem is they made it seem like stuff would be changing more often. Like this "season" I could play a rogue and then in 3 or 4 months a new "season" would start and I could try something new. But that never happened.
I honestly can't comprehend how people will go play classic fresh with no runes, doing 40 man MC with 20 warriors, and have a fun time at this point. Lol classic fresh sounds like ass if I'm behind honest.
We just get a a few of a specific buff each then coordinate amongst ourselves and pop them all right at the start. Usually I'll hold our boons for the last attempt, but most weeks everyone is fully world buffed and just stays booned.
What drove me away were the try hards thinking they'll be admired and fawned over for parsing on fights that are as easy as LFR. If you weren't max level within the first few days basically, tough cookies for you, you'll have to fight tooth and nail to get invited to raids that, again, are as easy as LFR. It just wasn't worth pleading your case for such a lowly challenge.
Honesty SoD was a great idea and would have probably keep strong if they didnt make such a huge mistake with incursions and other crazy exp paths i think they got a lot of good ideas and feedback for classic+ in the furture but at this point SoD is only gonna last a few more months while i know 90% of the community will disagree i think they should just add dungeon finder for 1-59 dungeons at this point to get people who want to give it one last horah before the season ends to cap so we can try and get enough players to max to fill the upcoming raids
The main reason people on my server started leaving(including myself) wasn't the content of the game it was the community. So yeah unless all the dumbasses who were causing guilds to disband due to drama about Gnomeregan, of all things, quit the game I'm not coming back.
I might actually try this out, but I think it might go too far in the other direction. The runes should at least be level gated at the vendor. Certain things you can't do until level 10, 20, 30, etc
I've been throwing myself at hardcore since the launch of the new servers but I'm starting to feel a bit burnt out from always being on edge. I was looking for something to casually play in between and I think you've convinced me to try SoD again
@@garygood6804 It’s funny when someone disagrees with you and they decide to attack you personally with a pre-programmed insult rather than trying to reply with a coherent counter because they know you’re right. That’s what’s really cringe.
Sod is actually feeling really good right now. Hopefully the new content they release is at least decent, could see it getting popular now with the runes all unlocked and some of the dope mounts and shit in the game
It's totally legit. Not wasted effort anything they make now in SOD can be used in Classic + when that's ready. Especially they can tweak it so it's totally ready when that comes in. So pumped for actual content and Classic+ such as new raids! Once I've finished to 60 and had some fun on classic I will park for tbc. As tbc was my only true interest as a Ret paladin. Classic classes and content are stagnant. Could give sod a run if they add a new raid for sure!!
Nothing has been confirmed and honestly I don’t think they know themselves yet. The dev team has said that they aren’t in any rush to end SOD and they’re taking player feedback. There’s a growing excitement for TBC SOD which id love to get. SOD feels like the beta playground where they can test out new stuff and see how broken it is before maybe bringing it to classic. I think the reason why dual spec in classic classic worked straight away is because they got all the bugs out of it from SOD.
I personally really enjoy SoD and have been playing non-stop since p1. It had it's rough moments especially in p3, but p4 and onwards were really enjoyable. I wish they wouldn't rush content so fast and would give it more time to breath. Pvp is not in a very good state though, shamans are boomies are 2 shooting people in bgs so that needs to be addressed.
Ive have still been having alot of fun on SoD. It is hands down my favorite version of wow in terms of class design and play style. Hopeful for w/e Classic + could be in the future.
tbh, for me I didn't have a problem with the runes, i actually liked it, running around the world is part of WoW (imo), for me the reason why i quit SoD is becuase i had too much to do in other versions of WoW
I look forward to all the disappointed videos when they find out the Scarlet "Raid" is just the four wings of the monastery glued together to make one continuous instance.
Doing a 1-60 solo speedrun with all the runes would super fun ngl, bet you could get insane XP/hour with a good aoe class set up like an ele/tank shaman or Hunter.
I feel like you normally research your vids a bit more. You're usually the "I don't post as the news drop but my vids are always spot on" kinda guy. We have info on stuff like the Scarlet raid and Kara crypts. Couple of other things in here too I feel like could do with a bit more research too. Overall still an enjoyable watch tho. appreciate the content always :)
I would have preferred if you could unlock runes on one char that unlock the option to buy them from the vendor. So you can play your main and do stuff for other classes.
Of course after I cancel my sub 2 weeks ago and wording the rune questing issues as a big reason, they then make a change like this. While I don't have an issue with some runes being locked behind cool lore quests like the Night elf supremacist or the Death Knight, there just wasn't a lot of Runes to play with so the trek to unlock runes that weren't really like big build defining runes in my opinion just felt like a slog. Hopefully with the release of POE2s EA, if any of the blizzard devs are playing it maybe they can use the gem system to inspire new runes to revamp the Rune system to make up for the Retail borrowed power.
I think I'm too addicted to hardcore, but they sound like good changes. Don't think Blizzard has the man power to pull off any stellar new content, but we'll see.
This does not feel like vanilla anymore (i thought SoD is would be the classic+ which fixes/improves classic experience while still faithful to its core), However this is another wow retail experience...... blizzard will never gets it EVER ""sigh"
I think the only way to fix this is for you to show up at Blizz HQ, shaking your WillE in frustration in the general direction of the building and developers!
Honestly been kinda bummed you haven't covered Season of Discovery as much, but I get not every version of WoW is for everyone. I hope it's grown on you and we get to hear more about it. :)
So much for the "discovery" in this season I guess. I think I'd be more fine with this if if it was only runes you've already gotten that are unlocked for alts (like if you've already done the dark riders then that rune is unlocked for all classes), then to compensate you ensure that all runes are soloable to make up for less people out in the world doing them. But I guess that for me SoD is just too close to retail now for me to care when Classic fresh was re-released as it is the better game.
Looks fun, but all my friends already ditched it to play either private servers or 20th. Not interested in playing alone until I find a group to play with. Feels like a desperation change by blizzard to get people back.
I honestly stopped playing fresh to play SOD again. I don't think the fresh experience is there for a lot of people any more. Vanilla can only be fun for so long before you're raid logging, and the fact that warriors are everywhere, and there's only mages, priests and rogues taking up most slots and preparation. Meaning you're fighting for every little bit a gear if you *do* play any of those four, or if you're non-meta you're behind. Meanwhile SoD has a variety of class balance and meta picks. Play whatever you want. The only real issue is the leveling experience in SoD, but it is still very fast (I'm pacing at around 40-50 hrs to hit 60), and getting your feet on the ground.
I wish they would come out and say what the scarlet crusade/deadwind pass stuff will be. I dont want to invest time to level to 60 and then they turn out to be 5 man dungeons
I've been thinking about it I havent played SoD since Phase 3. Ran some Sunken Temple with the guild I was in a few times and then just quit. Namely because when I quit the new FFXIV expansion was right around the corner. What all is there to know thats changed or is new since phase 3? If someone could give me notes id appreciate it alot. Cause i have no idea where to even begin with getting back into sod.
That's cool. Still couldn't pay me to comeback though. An MMO with a scheduled 'end' makes it really difficult to get invested in my character. With all they did in SoD Vanilla I don't really see how you do a SoD TBC without it being incredibly lackluster like 85% of the SoD Vanilla experience was. It was a good experiment to have; however, it moved way too slow for a seasonal server and most of us have lost interest. Cheers to all that enjoy it though.
I just went back and finished leveling my mage, got all the runes and... There were so few dungeons being run so I couldn't get better gear to get into any raids. Of which there were pretty much only AQs going. Then they announced this, which I'm happy about but... What's the point if I can't do anything at 60?
We need to ditch this mentality of "it's seasonal so idc just gimme". They have already stated that sod is not going to just disappear and has plans for future content.
SOD pve is decent, but pvp not so much.. we got to much power in classic SOD, but blizzard is trying which is enough for me to keep playing it. Hopes high for next thing where they have learned from mistakes. Classic plus hype!!!!
I always knew people will come crawling back to sod from the fresh servers, imagine raiding mc again with 20 warriors and dealing no damage as a hybrid, not to mention all the 1 button rotations, yikes
I havent played Sod since the P3 shitfest, but seeing Aggrend still posting total bullshit and going back on what he said originally makes me really happy that i stopped at that point. AWFUL person to have running any show.
PvP is still bad. The difference is it was Alliance that had Paladins globaling people and Shamans could not. But apparently, Shamans became OP tanks in PvP with 90% block rate, but any good tank warlock would own them, so yeah. Overall, I quit to level in Fresh and until I get to 60, I won't play SOD and I want to say I most likely am Done with SOD. I am thinking of moving on from WoW and play POE2

Honestly what drove me away, was that there are way too many runes. It's basically retail now.
Yer MAAAM is basically retail now!
I just created my first character on a SoD Server and it feels like a private server. A lot of WotLK spells at level 1 hahaha
Damn... Scarlet raid would bring me back so hard .. lol
Now there’s more runes readily available in SoD than you can shake your WillE at!!!
Welcome back to SOD mate :D
I think I'm too addicted to hardcore, but they sound like good changes. Don't think Blizzard has the man power to pull off any stellar new content, but we'll see.
All runes is fantastic as I got kinda burnt out with that after 4 toons…my next thing I’m gunshy about is the very long aq40 raid
Gotta love blizzard putting effort into Updating the game for like the last 3people left playing
I logged in this morning and grabbed runes on my toons. Still have yet to get to 60 on any
This does not feel like vanilla anymore (i thought SoD is would be the classic+ which fixes/improves classic experience while still faithful to its core), However this is another wow retail experience...... blizzard will never gets it EVER ""sigh"
I think the only way to fix this is for you to show up at Blizz HQ, shaking your WillE in frustration in the general direction of the building and developers!
Hmm I'm going to try it for sure as I've been playing fresh so this can be nice as well with new stuff
Honestly been kinda bummed you haven't covered Season of Discovery as much, but I get not every version of WoW is for everyone. I hope it's grown on you and we get to hear more about it. :)
Damn just checked my old server. 0 active auctions
its just two mega servers now
You have to transfer your toons it’s free though
So much for the "discovery" in this season I guess.
I think I'd be more fine with this if if it was only runes you've already gotten that are unlocked for alts (like if you've already done the dark riders then that rune is unlocked for all classes), then to compensate you ensure that all runes are soloable to make up for less people out in the world doing them.
But I guess that for me SoD is just too close to retail now for me to care when Classic fresh was re-released as it is the better game.
I quit after getting a toon to 50 and another to 42 due to incursions lol this is insane.. wheres the time I spent rune grinding back!!
Low level duels about to be wild
we ned a new bg its that simple
Dame Willie!!
I thought i was out but you pull me back in.
Time to dust of my priest and start healing again 🎉
I still can't bring myself to care..Too little too late.
better game than classic era, by far.
have love for era but i'd never go back to it
Haven't played since p2, might check it out
Lvling few chars on anniversary and raid logging till tbc is out
I wish they would come out and say what the scarlet crusade/deadwind pass stuff will be. I dont want to invest time to level to 60 and then they turn out to be 5 man dungeons
Tbh honest with the xp boost and the runes, the time investment is NOWHERE near the same as vanilla realm.
@underman77 true
You punish bad behavior not reward it. We pleaded with them to do this Months ago and were met with silence. Time to return the favor.
Blizzard is showing with warcraft 3 that they are not only listning but also actually trying to do good things not o only thing for money sake
I would love to hop back in, but the two dedicated AU servers are basically ghost towns, and I can't stand the ping of NA servers :(
I wonder if joyus will come back in cata now because of dragonsoul coming and sod having a buff
The rune vendor makes sense but doesn’t fit the classic spirit at all. Blizzard would have never done that back in the day
1 copper everything tastes like a private server
It's not classic... it's season of discovery.....
True but the devs have made it clear most of the speed leveling stuff is because it's a seasonal server and wouldn't be there if it was permanent.
Might finally try shaman now
I've been thinking about it I havent played SoD since Phase 3. Ran some Sunken Temple with the guild I was in a few times and then just quit. Namely because when I quit the new FFXIV expansion was right around the corner. What all is there to know thats changed or is new since phase 3? If someone could give me notes id appreciate it alot. Cause i have no idea where to even begin with getting back into sod.
wow. so glad I farmed all my runes
Nice. Gonna make another shaman.
We need to ditch this mentality of "it's seasonal so idc just gimme". They have already stated that sod is not going to just disappear and has plans for future content.
ChAnGes EveRyThInG !!!!11!!!!!!
Calm down ballaur
Sod is the best version of wow by far!! I really hope we get sod tbc, but I’ll settle for classic +
dark riders was horrible. But not as horrible us destroing economi and leveling on phase 3. Still couln't belive they did that
Not gonna change anything. SOD is finished Blizzard killed it with nightmare incursions and also going super slow in the phases.
Willie is been bugging me for years, why do you always have the low quality water and shadows on your videos? 😅
SOD pve is decent, but pvp not so much.. we got to much power in classic SOD, but blizzard is trying which is enough for me to keep playing it.
Hopes high for next thing where they have learned from mistakes.
Classic plus hype!!!!
Getting all runes is nice, but unless I get a free transfer off lonewolf, it ain't happening.
All servers merged some time ago? No?
all transfers are free and you can have both factions on the mega server
Ok ill give SOD a try got burnt with classic
You mean healing touch rank 4
I always knew people will come crawling back to sod from the fresh servers, imagine raiding mc again with 20 warriors and dealing no damage as a hybrid, not to mention all the 1 button rotations, yikes
Havent played SOD at all, is it too late to hop in?
No u can hop in any time
Enough Catch up raids and everything
I havent played Sod since the P3 shitfest, but seeing Aggrend still posting total bullshit and going back on what he said originally makes me really happy that i stopped at that point. AWFUL person to have running any show.
K i gotta get my rogue to 60 fast in classic anniversary to go back to my lvl 37 lock on sod for this i parked on p3
I love sod so much man
You are a shell of what you once aspired to be. It’s sad to see you now…
Too little far, far too late.
its not retail its more like Wrath and CATA sorry to say buddy CATA and WOTLK are literally the start of most of the problems with retail
yep shaman still king of pvp nothing u can do against them
I love how Stalcraft x claims the biggest rpg fps on the net. Yet it needs to shamelrssly plug ads into content creators videos. 😅
sod hype
PvP is still bad. The difference is it was Alliance that had Paladins globaling people and Shamans could not. But apparently, Shamans became OP tanks in PvP with 90% block rate, but any good tank warlock would own them, so yeah.
Overall, I quit to level in Fresh and until I get to 60, I won't play SOD and I want to say I most likely am Done with SOD. I am thinking of moving on from WoW and play POE2
This is the stupidest thing ive ever heard - what is cool about them giving you all the runes immediately
