Lost my Gerber in the dirt, found it years later while digging. The blade was completely rusted but the Gerber was like new after cleaning. I bought a dozen for myself and mens gifts, very proud to give them as a gift along with my story about the lost one.
I love my Gerber. I have the lite in black instead of chrome. Haven't carried a wallet since I bought it. Holds my necessary cards and whatever cash I may have perfectly and just disappeares in my back pocket
I just carry a razor blade stuck between the blades of my spare Swiss Army knife. It's in a pouch, so it stays put. It's also got a spot for a needle under the corkscrew.
Great video, Brett. I'm expecting a Mossy Oak in about 2 days from Amazon.I also had the Gerber EAB now for about 5 years. Thanks so much, this gives me food for thought, as I love collecting knives, edc items, and just general gadgetry. Subscribed!!
Hope I'm not repeating if it's already been said, but fun fact about the EAB: the screw to change the blade is the perfect size to unscrew with a penny
Gerber eab, the slow blade change using the screw is also a plus as there is no blade "wiggle" why it is still a favorite as it is very compact as well.
I use a fiskars or a Milwaukee for heavy cutting at work buy this mossy oak knife works well for lighter things like cutting plastic off pallets and even the heavier plastic pallets ties.
If all you need is a utility box opener style tool that’s made in the USA a great option might be the unger pocket scraper as although it is primarily made for scraping, it ia also great for opening boxes and for cutting zip ties etc and the blades are razor sharp and best of all it is only like £4
@@BOOSTEDLASER whaaaat? That's really surprising, it seems that all standard blades fit the EAB. I think my favorite for 2020 would be the Gerber Prybrid and Prybrid X. I've tried a bunch of different blades in the EABs and never had a problem with fit. That's one positive about having a screw holding the blade in place. It's secure and you can tighten it to make it more stable. I have Irwin blades in there now because they keep their edge for a long time.
@@brettmoore6781 Good, I'll have to pick one up for myself then. One of the benefits of this type of knife is versatility in blade choices, so I don't want to have to mess with it if I'm tied to a particular thickness of utility blade. Besides, the thinner the utility blade, the sharper it should be. Thanks for the info Brett!
yea! They came out after this video was made but I bought both the Prybrid and Prybrid X. I think the biggest failing of both was no pocket clip. I added one to the Prybrid but ultimately found it to be too bulky to be comfortable. I used the Prybrid X more because I liked the blade size but I found that it only accepted a certain brand of #11 Hobby Blade so it's versatility was drastically reduced. I'm using the Resolute Tools X1 Ultralight right now (resolutetools.com/) and it's quickly becoming a favorite. The mechanism is really cool, the body of the tool is all one piece and it's super easy to use one handed as well as change the blade. I love the design and, of course, it has a pocket clip. Super light weight too.

I recently picked up a Gerber Prybrid and a Gerber EAB Lite for work, loving them so far.
But now I want MORE.
Thanks for the video!

Or you can use the replacement blade to unscrew the screw then use the old blade to screw it back down.
Great vid. Could you please comment as to which of these has the least or no blade wiggle?
Gerber eab, the slow blade change using the screw is also a plus as there is no blade "wiggle" why it is still a favorite as it is very compact as well.
These are handy if you don't need to cut much but if you use them a lot for work your hands will wish you had a normal, full sized box cutter.

What model blades are you running in your EAB's? I've heard that EAB's need a 'thicker' utility blade to have everything fit correctly.
I've tried a bunch of different blades in the EABs and never had a problem with fit. That's one positive about having a screw holding the blade in place. It's secure and you can tighten it to make it more stable. I have Irwin blades in there now because they keep their edge for a long time.
