Lyrics:
And like a shadow upon the skies fell
my evil child I listen to you tonight
I turn off the day, the storm takes hold
the kingdom of death whispers my name in the long night
together we walk in the shadow of what disappeared
the useless creatures fell
they thirst for our pure blood
but they must honor us by the foot of the tree
Wow, that was fucking beautiful. The struggle of existence from birth to childhood through the uphill climb of adulthood, depression (the sand trap) and looking back at all of the shit you've been through as motivation to get through it. Then the ocean represents death or oblivion and diving into it without fear after a lifetime of battle.
I really love the contrast between her voice and the black metal instrumental, glad I found out this artist
black metal instrumental? where?
@@Rottensparrow В голове.
That's no black metal sorry
Myrkur is simply amazing. I find myself not only listening to the music, but experiencing it as well, and I think that that's the true mark of an artist, when they can make their audience feel what it is that they are doing.
I did not think i was going to like this... i was wrong, very wrong. This is one of the best albums i heave heard in 2015.
+C Targaryen It's very good regardless of the reviews in metal archives. Very very Ulver but that was to be expected.
+Meelo What are you talking about the archive isn't just for Black Metal but all kinds of metal genres. The people there are just normal people with an opinion.
+The Sickness What the hell are you talking about??? ANYONE can sign up to the archives and give an opinion. Sure the site is run by somebody but the majority of the people giving "reviews" is the general public. Nobody is deciding what is metal and what is not. It's a great resource site and extremely accurate in terms of releases of a particular band. If you can't understand that then that is your problem, not mine...
+The Sickness I actually do understand what you mean. A friend of mine tried to put his band in the archive a few years ago. Death Metal. He was told at the time because his band hadn't released anything (You have to release at least a demo to be included) his band couldn't be included. They are there now but since then they went on to make a demo and an album.
+The Sickness They are not there probably because nobody bothered to add them. It can't be because they are mainstream because Maiden and Priest are there. I don't know. Try and add them yourself maybe??? hehe
Saw the show last night supporting Epica, absolutely brilliant, best support act I've seen in years. Let's get this music out there!
Nice music and video. No corpsepaint, no evil satanic bullshit, just girl, nature and good atmosphere.
+Eugene 818 Hey that "Satanic bullshit" is cool as hell. Scaring people is the best.
+lolttyl143 Yes but using satan ALL THE FUCKING TIME is really annoying
FUCKING MAYHEEEEEEEEEM \m/
+Eugene 818 AMEN!!!!
+DemonLordKaos And what's wrong with witchcraft?
The real scandinavian spirit. The legacy of our ancestors and your deeds run inside our veins. Myrkur is one in a billion, a amazing and unique voice.
I love the guitars!!! They sound like black-alternative metal.
The voice is so beautiful!
Heard this while playing the Sims, really good I did
If you guys think she sucks, then too bad. Go listen to something else.
What I will say is that she shows a lot of promise. This is only her debut in the genre, she'll improve with time if you think this piece is only decent.
So... How are you supposed to know if something sucks this bad unless you... you know, *LISTEN to it?!?!?*
Looks like she gave up:D
This song is pure emotion, I love it so much! I had a crush when I saw Myrkur at Hellfest 2016, amazing band for sure!
I've been really picky about artists as I get older but this is amazing. Love her voice.
She's amazing. I saw her live with Behemoth, and she absolutely slayed. Can play multiple instruments, writes beautiful music, sings and screams absolutely perfectly. If this was a man there would be no debate about her music. #keepbeingsaltyandjealous
Tamara she s a girl and fortunately four pur ears we are living in some free countries and she s able to do whatever she wants and she s awesome.
Tamara I watched the video because I had the pleasure of seeing her Live last night in Manchester , England. She was supporting Epica! Fantastic! 🤘😀🤘
i call needless feminism bullshit here, you can't say if her gender is a factor of the hatestorm, i would lean much more towards the music she's producing in general, she's picking blackmetal elements and doesn't play pure blackmetal so elitist jerks of the BM scene will bash her like every other "poser" there is, so pls don't use such things so thoughtless, it'll only put the topic in bad light, there are woman in BM which are highly appreciated for doing what they do, i hope you understand what I'm talking about and aren't only pissed off as a reaction
Tamara i just started listening her music, it's actually really great, relaxing, but i see people are branding her black metal, and when you already mentioned Behemoth, how's this in the same league?
Well fucking put.
Вдохновение, атмосфера, чистая эмоция.
Фантастическая Амалия Бруун - совершенство и талантливейший музыкант.🔥❤️🤘
но был свергнут Марционой де marthe ...
Why all the hipster hate? Is it because she's not decked out in corpse paint and not trying to act 2kvlt4skool?
+Miguel San Martin I believe it's not because of it but because that song is almost a copy of another black metal song
+Monika Turunen so, like 90% of black metal songs?
trouchelle nope, but listen to Capitel I by Ulver and tell me then :)
+Monika Turunen You're stupid. Ulver produced this. Get some info before you act so smart.
+Miguel San Martin its not black metal dude. why would she have corpse paint on. serious question
Ambient black metal. I like this.
black metal? LoL!!not even close m8
@@mikebazowski2216 It is. Although it's a special kind, apparently also called 'blackgaze'.
@@mikebazowski2216 there's a lot of black metal people really aren't clued up on. Atmospheric, depressive, proto etc, this does have strong atmospheric/depressive vibes in the instruments, the vocals flit between those and then airy/light
@@mikebazowski2216 It's been 2 years. Have you matured yet?
@@frenchbaguetteoui Ask your mother and your sister they know
She is awesome. Very talented! I have heard of her before, but only explored her works further when i was reading about all the hate on her. Those belittling her works, are only further promoting her; thank you! I really like her vocals, both clean and distorted.
I cannot stop listening to this since I discovered it yesterday.
I must also add, this woman can play any and every instrument under the sun and play them extremely well. I was blown away
except drums lol
Never saw her play drums, but her drummer back in 16 was incredible
Was going through spotify and came across this song and fell in love with her voice. so peaceful yet so haunting. i checked out the album from this song and now im a fan.
Thank you Myrkur for existing! I just love your music ....
Love it. Great vocals mixed with a Black Metal background with a touch of shoegaze (!). I listen to this song and remember some Slowdive songs back from the early nineties.
Can't get enough of this track. Love the production on the guitars, they're so atmospheric and ethereal. Has that early Ulver cadence and flow to it. Reminds me of my mid-20s and a very wonderful time in my life. Thanks Myrkur for the great music.
Too much talent for everyone to be recognized...killer song...
It's atmospheric metal I guess... yeah I don't know why she is getting so much hate
"Danish rocker freaks out about norwegian mountians and rolls down some sand dunes to the danish beach"
Kidding, I love your music Myrkur!
I'm still listening to and loving this in 2023. 🤘
I miss this type of Myrkur)
Like a breath of fresh air
This was beautiful to watch and hear. Thank you.
Everyone has hate for this style of music but can't figure out which band or genre of music is better. There are countless versions of one's taste in certain music, this is one of them. Get over it
Love this song! Hear it again and again!
Атмосферик-блэк с чистым вокалом - это казалось невозможным.
I swear Myrkur is not human. She is an angelic maiden brought from the very depths of Pluto itself.
This sounds beautiful. I’m a synth nerd who listens mostly to electronic stuff or darkwave bands and even I can appreciate the hell out of this!
The percussion sound is fantastic
Amazing song...the mix of metal and atmospheric pop with elegant transitions. Bravo
Wow I think I discovered my favourite artist 😍
Great great great. Glad to discover Myrkur
Absolutely beauty!!!! Go go go Myrkur! Cant wait for the gig in Switzerland!
...from that moment on, wherever I was going, I was RUNNING!!!
Capitel I: I Troldskop Faren Vild, anyone?
Yeah that's what i thought
bmhyakiri This gives me acid flash backs to a time when Ulver were great.
Jannic Pedersen They are still great.
***** Tastes. I prefer the new Ulver over the old one, and I love Black Metal.
bmhyakiri Pretty much, yeah.
The improved production and real drums makes a huge difference compared to the EP. Now I'm actually excited to hear this album!
Man Im so glad I ignored all the negative talk I heard about this! Finally some good music.
that part at 1:58 gives me life
Tremendo disco! Sin desmerecer su originalidad, es la continuadora natural de Ulver. Espero el próximo trabajo!
why do so many people hate on this girl? Im just checking this out for the first time and while it may not be my cup, i will simply move on to something else. Is there something im missing?
+ramona farris This song is a ripoff, she's untalented and the videoclip is unintentionally ridiculous and just do not goes well with "her" music.
+Marco Aurélio Hoegen She has the right to do the music and videoclip as she want, but hate her is an idiotic attitude. If you don't like just don't listen to it, as you do with any other things you dislike. Nobody is forcing you to be here.
Brevyan Singollo She hasn't the right to rip-off artists that are unknown to mainstream public. And I personally find it ridiculous to make her famous out of feminist desires of female representation.
+ramona farris One word: envy.
DanteDiangello No. You are wrong.
Impossible de s'en lasser!Magnifique.J'Adore!
One of the very best albums of the yr! It is certainly my fav black metal album of 2015.
Enya meets Burzum?
ThatMetalKid obviously you do not know how Burzum sounds like
drums are burzum as fuck
@@Slavsson NO
More like Enya and Ulver.
Do you realise the album this song was taken from was actually produced by the guy from Ulver?
So what?
There's a ton of people saying Myrkur plagiarized Ulver, but what could actually be happening is that Rygg's influence as a producer makes Myrkur sound like Ulver.
L Galicki ulver helped with production!
@@MusiCaninesTheMusicalDogs True but that's assuming these tons of people actually have brains & are capable of reasonable thought processes.
Great song for the end of the year. I love her voice, her looks, and the video is very well done.
Love your voice and your music this is so me feeling myself when I hear your music 💕
I can't stop listening to this!! i love it!....haters... you are just wasting your time :)
Very beautiful lady and very beautiful music and vocals.
Fantastic song, thank you.
She is a true artist
Can't believe the vocalist is the same woman who made some collaborations with underground artists Vinnie Paz and R.A. the Rugged Man. =O
Have to say, this is actually awesome. I actually dig it.
Banda maravilhosa.
I cant stop listening to this since I discovered it yesterday!
Wow... just wow... she has ton of personality, and both music and video are gorgeous. Looking forward to this release.
la conocí gracias a los sims 4 jajajaja me encantó 💗💗
sorry if i'm missing something, but...
I've heard that she's getting some shit from the dumb elitists in the black metal scene, but all I see in the comments are supportive people enjoying music and complaints about this hate, but no sign of this hate anywhere
Talented Beautiful Artist, Thank You. Nothing but Admiration and Respect.
For me, this is like Enya + Burzum. It's almost mesmerizing. Marvelous work!!
"As long as there is still old school black metal bands", i don't mind non traditional black metal.
I actually like this. And i loved Malmhaus Svarthammar.
hmmm let see how varg react to this
This piece is nice for its atmosphere, but one not really pleasant thing is that the drums are hard to hear.
But how is this black metal at all??? At best it sounds like folk metal, and i can't hear the BM everyone is talking about. In fact, i'm pretty sure hipsters are branding this BM for fuck know why reasons. The music is great, but where are the key elements BM is known for?
I can agree with this, it is chill, not really menacing. Not really what BM typically is
Have you tried band like Solbrud ?
Really digging that old school early 90es Norwegian sound
Who heard this song in The Sims 4 and went looking for it?
I am glad she is singing cleaning more. I like her voice and her brand of atmospheric black metal. I think I am going to dig this new album.
Fantastic musicianship, sound and atmosphere. Dark yet emotional stuff, very uniquely done. Myrkur you're great!
Definitely a new and unique take on black metal, while paying respect in some ways to classics such as Ulver and Emperor. Good stuff!
Judging by comments on this and other vids from her. It seems it is forbidden these days to be inspired by someone and don't even talk about following in someones footsteps. Getting flamed for "unrightfully called black metal". Words like hipster metal... i mean what? and how can this relatively unknown singer be a threat to other (bigger) bands?? Also consider this. Metal has so many subgenres it gets ridiculous. Only because 80% is black metal but the other 20 is not so it "most certainly is not black metal"..NO. It's , here we go, black metal inspired metal.. hooray another subgenre.
I love this song btw.. i just don't understand where the hate is coming from. Trying to bring a new kind of metal is hard. not many bands are really unique.. they are either inspired by others or getting flamed for bringing down the metalscene or some nonsense like that.
I guess i'm a simple man for liking what i think is nice.. not good enough reasons these days it seems.. clinging to one genre is stupid.
So this is called Myrkur....I like this band! First time listing to them.
Just "wow" i love it!
Think I'm going to buy this album
sounds like Ulver's first album; Bergtatt!!!
haru chika Nah, it's folkish. This isn't.
how can someone possibly hate her ? She's so gorgeous and talented.
Grim hatred possesses our souls in the kingdom of frost and eternal fire...
Oh man I hope the entire album is like this and better. The EP last year was good, let's hope this release is a step up.
Such a fucking beautiful song... Love it!!!!!!
Man I love this! Black-Metal-Enya FTW!
Any irish metal bands. I'm from Ireland
Thomas Prior 2 good ones. Primordial and Altar of Plagues.
Thomas Prior Primordial, Altar of Plagues, Eternal Helcaraxe, Síoraí Geimhreadh, Slidhr, Myrkr, Haud Mundus.
This is one of those albums where I heard one song and didn't like it, and I questioned the hype around it. I listened to the stream of it over UA-cam to try it again and I was DEAD WRONG about it the first time. This is a brilliant album, simply brilliant.
..I hear so much I Trolskog Faren Vild of Ulver in this! (especially that refrain like 2:16) ..I was missing that feeling, at 20 years distance. Thanks.
the perfect blend of harshness and soft. haters be damned
if you dont like her music dont listen to it. you cannot decide what is right or wrong in music, music is personal experience re-imagined in an art form. music is music, no matter what label you slap on it, it makes no difference, its music THEY made, THEY envisioned THEY created, its THEIR music, their very own style. she didnt ask for critics so either enjoy it or move the fuck along
My words exactly
well said sir
+Alex Smithard The point is, she don't create anything. Pretty much every single song of her is a ripoff from a old black metal song or a traditional folk song. And the harmonies and the original ideas came from the producer (the guy from Ulver). So, nope.
+DanteDiangello bit of a tit then really isnt she
i saw her live on metaldays and it was devenitly one of the best concerts i saw this summer
First time in a long time a Black Metal album actually surprised me!
Idk man, I find the Enya vocals refreshing. Especially in something doom-y and atmospheric and deluged in reverb and delay. I'm surprised people hate this so much. I like how they don't sound forced and whiny. The whole album was pretty cool, one or two songs were legit kvlt. Honestly I think the biggest thing you can hold against her is that she sucks live if video uploads are anything to go by. I really don't get it. I couldn't give two shits about how many women are in metal bands. I don't use twitter and go on sjw tirades. I just really think it's a good listen. This whole shitfit around is fucking weird, the music's not even amazingly special. But yeah just throw death threats at her. Kvlt for life! Hey remember how Emperor were the best black metal band?! And how they DEFINITELY kept their black metal image all the way to their demise!? Totally did! Ihsahn was absolutely rocking the corpse paint, he was just pretending to hate it. He still wears it in secret of course! He just doesn't want anyone to know so he can fit in with the hipster crowd!!1!! TOTALLY KVLt! LET'S LISTEN TO SONGS SOLEY MADE BY ANGSTY OR HEAVILY DEPRESSED AND SUICIDAL ANTISOCIAL DISILLUSIONED 17-18 YEAR OLDS FROM SCANDINAVIA FROM A PERIOD IN THE EARLY 90s FOREVER. FUCK YEAH DEATH TO ALL HERETICS. ULVER PUT CLEANS SO SHE'S DEFONIETLY COPYING ONLY ULVER CAN HAVE CLEANS ON SOMETHING THAT RESEMBLES BLACK METAL REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Black metal fans actually might actually be the fucking dumbest, most autistic fucking fans ever.
*Looks like Relapse has turned into Prolapse Records.*
I love your music! You‘re awesome!
I am so in love with her!!! \m/ This is absolutely awesome!!!
I refused to listen to Myrkur for so many years because she is so widely regarded as a "poser" in the black metal "community". I'm glad I finally did because her music is fucking beautiful. Black metal doesn't have to sound like it was recorded on an asshole in 1990 and have vocals that sound like a guy with the worst diarrhea of his life. It's been over 30 years since black metal was developed. It is inevitable that it will evolve and change, thankfully. So many modern bands all do the same shit. They have the same look, lyrical content, and sound that most black metal bands have had since the 90's. It's boring and unoriginal. Refreshing to see a woman who is playing black metal and doesn't feel the need to wear silly face paint and dress like a Dungeons and Dragons larper to fit in with the men.
She created a new genre of metal that hasn't been done in over a decade, so yeah she's getting hate cuz people are jealous douchebags that they didn't think of it first.
Lmao calm down
I knew MYRKUR had it... Awesome
Wow just wow this grew on me quickly I didn't know what to think at first
eh, I don't mind it. it's dream-poppy.
Sounds like Burzum, but Myrkur is good
I actually love this.
Beautiful song!
sims 4 anyone?
The only way I know this band was from sims 4
I nearly shit myself when I heard this play! Wonderful to see such a big game collaborate with a smaller artist
emmm... Ulver?
DUH, it's a tribute to ULVER as the guy from ULVER produced it. Folks can be pretty thick. Try googling it.
my take .. so powerful as a whole and the music has the best of what can be put together from the dark music art, the video has the longing to reach to be one with the all with the true and higher self to be fully embodied with you who you really are to be home far away where your soul truly belongs.
great music
