  • Are you on a PPI because you have irritation to your esophagus due to long term acid reflux? Do you have strictures? ulcers?
Regardless of the damage your esophagus has sustained, there is a natural way to heal it without the use of dangerous PPI medications.
It is true that stomach acid is not designed to bathe your esophagus. It does create irritation and it does need to heal. But decreasing the amount of acid your stomach produces has dangerous side effects. You do NOT need to choose between esophagus damage or PPI damage - there's a natural alternative.
Before we get to the solution, let's review the short and long-term side effects of PPIs.
Short term they can cause: diarrhea, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, dizziness, fever and headaches.
And yes, if you're thinking these are symptoms you were suffering before you started the PPI, you're right. These drugs can worsen the symptoms you're trying to handle.
Long-term side effects (taking the PPI for 2 years or longer) include: infections (C diff - this is potentially life threatening), nutrient deficiencies of magnesium, vitamin B12 and iron, kidney disease, dementia, bone fractures due to osteoporosis, severe diarrhea, fever, and stomach cancer. Yes again, taking this medication can lead to life threatening side effects to the stomach itself, not to mention your kidneys and brain.
Therefore, we do want to find an alternative. The stomach is supposed to be a bag of acid - but it's not supposed to send its acid up the esophagus. Is the solution a PPI and it's dangerous side effects?
NO!!! The solution is to figure out what the cause of the pressure is on your stomach which is forcing the it to send its contents (acid) up into your esophagus. Your stomach is not malfunctioning by producing acid, but the pressure placed upon it has to be addressed. This is what we do.
We isolate the root cause of where the pressure is coming from. When that is done there is no more acid moving up into your esophagus - and now your esophagus can heal, naturally.
I hope that makes sense. It's not only common sense, but it works!

Initially, using PPIs may provide relief, but I agree that long-term use can lead to many side effects as mentioned. After my fundoplication surgery, my gastroenterologist advised me to take Omeprazole for life. I used it for about 10 years, but later realized it might be contributing to side effects. I decided to discontinue it, shifted my focus to healthier eating habits, and for the past year, I've been relying on homemade herbal teas, which I find to be a better alternative. While I’m not a doctor, as a patient, I believe prolonged PPI use weakens the digestive system, which in turn hampers nutrient absorption, potentially leading to various deficiencies in the body.

Ppi have def helped me get better. Changing lifestyle while on ppi can be beneficial. Then tapering off. This helped me from suffocating from my silent reflux

Can you put alternative suggestions for healing? Most of your videos don’t have info on that

"Holding back" with treatment advice may partly be a business decision, but I can't see how one could offer effective individualised treatment without seeing that individual in person...because we're all different! But (even if it's partly a business promotion method) I appreciate her educational explanations about the mechanisms and underlying causes of various chronic, troublesome ailments..and that's never a bad thing! The alternative is conveyor-belt treatment of diseases and symptoms with (often potent) pharmaceuticals...and dealing with all their potential side-effects.
