Hi Vic, I’ve just purchased my first drone which happens to be the DJI Mini Pro 3 and to be honest, the first few times I flew it the heart rate did peak a few times. Found the tips in this video very helpful and I will certainly be taking onboard your recommendations and advice, thanks 🙏
Hey there. Congrats. Enjoy the new drone. Yep. Absolutely it can be nerve wrecking alright. Ultimately take your time and don’t try anything stupid 😂 that worked for me. Let me know if there’s another type of video that you’d find useful.
RTH is a pain for me. I live in WV in the mountains so I need to set my RTH to like 900ft just to clear some of the hills and such. Where I fly it, i keep my drone about 250ft off the ground but from where I launch its 900ft above me.
Hahahaa I got the Mavick mini last year on Christmas and unknowingly tried sports mode a day after .. ran it right into my car and broke one of the folding arms! Luckily they're pretty easy to repair 🤦🏼♀
Another mistake that people make (and a lot of people have discussed this in other videos), is that even before you start to fly, lift your drone up at least 30 or so metres, and then just let it hover there for 20 or so seconds, so that it can find a GPS lock and automatically set where you're taking off from as a home point. A lot of people forget to do this and then when they 'return to home' it can't reliably do that unless you manually do it yourself.
Thinking of buying this as my first drone. My question is should I buy a cheap drone to learn on first? Such as a latraxx Alias which is a Traxxas product. No camera but just to learn how to fly.
Hey there. IMO just go for it. Every drone handles differently so you’d have to learn sort of, again with the mini 3 pro. Plus there’s a lot of safety features in this so you’d be safe enough. But like anything, watch all the videos, and most importantly don’t do anything stupid with the drone and you’ll be a ok
@@VicBarry thanks. My ultimate goal is to have my own drone channel such as yours and get subscribers. Maybe get monetized but this is way down the road. I’ve been into RC cars for 30 years. To many channels to count for those. I need something new and have been thinking of drone flying for about 2 years now. Just never pulled the trigger on it. I’m doing it.
Learn from my fail: today I must have tapped on the screen by accident & AFed somewhere in particular, because all my pics afterwards were out of focus. 😢
Hey there, none spring to mind to be honest, but I'd imagine, they're all going to be slow charging given the output from most cars unless you've got something that can do a huge power output

Short explanation for anyone who doesn't fully understand "cinelike" or 10 bit (12 bit if you ever get lucky) You understand the difference between black + white and color? well thats the difference between the AMOUNT of color between 8 and 10 bit. You get more colors and more shades of color. and the "washed out colors" in cinelike (or any flat, linear) color profile is to allow you to work with it later. it looks flat because its giving the the greatest opportunity and starting point to color grade it your self. why would you want to do that? well, if you ever took a picture into photoshop to work on contrast, or make some colors "pop", thats why. you really cant push or pull colors if youre already maxed out and locked out. get a free copy of "davinci resolve", watch a very short beginner video on color grading, and experiment with a linear color profile shot.. you'll never go back to shooting without it again. Some people just dont care and thats perfectly fine. just wanna shoot, edit and be done? lots of people do, but if you want the best image quality you can get.. go 10 bit and color grade your footage

Not for nothing, but new pilots can't even ballpark estimate how tall the highest obstacles are, nevermind set RTH to 10 meters higher. I usually advise: 1. Find what L👀ks like the tallest tree, building, sign etc. 2. Set your camera straight ahead and fly to the tippy top. 3. Look at your attitude. 4. Add 10 meters. Fly happy.
I agree with 30 watts, but you can get a 65 watt or 100 watt charger with 3 outputs. One goes into the drone with battery inside, one goes into the 3 battery dock, and the third goes into the remote control. Turn 3+ hours into 2+ hours. Don't worry about 100 watts. The batteries and remote will only draw as much power as they are allowed by the circuitry.
@@AdviceandAdventures Your devices only draw as much power as they are designed to draw when using a USB-C Programmable Power Supply (PPS) charger like the 737 Anker. They go by different names: QC/PD/PPS/PIQ with slight differences between them but all can modify voltage and current in real-time so no worries about killing your battery life.
@@Kevin-ib4gv I don't know where you're getting information from but again there have been third party independent test done on fast charging versus slow charging and in the long run you are better off doing a slow charge. Fast charges will wear your batteries out quicker, it's a matter of physics.

Im brand new to the drone thing, and I managed to figure most of it out pretty quick but the biggest problem I'm having right now is with the videos. Which video editing software do you choose when editing your drone footage? Oddly enough, If I play the video back with the controller or even on my computer with, lets say, VLC and no problem. But the second I load it into any video converter or editing software, I get theses weird pink flashes throughout the video. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Christopher. I use Adobe Premiere Pro. A good alternative to that is Davinci Resolve (they do a free version that’s great). - Lumafusion if you’re using the likes of an iPad. There is no need to put it into any type of video converter unless you have a very specific requirement. Not sure about the pink flashes. It may well be the software or possibly a codec issue with that software but if VLC is playing it without issue then it’s 99% that software you’re using. Let me know if that makes sense
@@VicBarry Solved (kind of, lol) Turns out it was indeed a codec issue. DJI uses a particular version of HEVC/H.265. I was able to find it on the Microsoft store. There were 2 versions, one that was free and one that cost a dollar. Regardless, you were a great help and I just wanted to say thank you for steering me in the right direction. Ill definitely have to give DaVinci Resolve a try. Cheers!
@@masque7374 I would still grab a copy of resolve. its free and professional cinema graders use it for a reason. lots of people dont think they need to go down that deep, but its worth spending the time. if youre just shooting clips for tick tock or Facebook then yeah, no need. but if you want your stuff to actually look good then you should dive in. you wont regret it
Fun fact... when it hits the automatic RTH and shoots up to the programmed altitude, the drone doesn't care if you're beneath a canopy of trees... ...jetting straight into pine trees at 20m above the ground! Ask me how I know...
Thanks Vic, As a good old Canadian boy I’m always looking for a deal. By the way I love your channel and mini 3 content. I’m having connection issues with mine. Are you experiencing any issues with yours?
Yeah, that's a fair point. I'm generally the same to be honest. For speed I'll stick with the FPV stuff. Not even sure why it's an option in the Mini line, although I guess it can get you out of a spot of bother from time to time
thanks for the luts proposal, I use davinci and I have them all, so pay for a Lut that is never the same, better to make the color from 0, so you can get pro results without being contaminated by other luts
Mini 1 Mini 2 Mini 3 Mini 4 Mini 5 all will be the same don'ts. . One advice I would give to any new Drone user is take your drone to a large space. Like a football pitch or large open area with no buildings or trees and practice. I did this for a month before flying the drone over water or buildings. I also never let the battery drop pass 20%. Soon as it hits 40% I bring it back to where I can see it and know I have enough time to land. Most who get drones treat them like a toy. My thought when i take my drone out is - FLY SMART, FLY SAFE, RESPECT THE DRONE-
Make sure you don't make these editing mistakes with your drone footage OR any footage for that matter - ua-cam.com/video/MRCTS-G-_8c/v-deo.html

@@AdviceandAdventures Every single new cell phone fast charges using the NEW Power Delivery protocol. You need to let go of the past and keep up with technology. It changes rapidly these days. Do some research on PDO chargers and get back to me.
I use DJI Mini 2 for my videos, i think that the best drone. But maybe i will bye dji mini 3😋
Hey Egor, thanks for the comment! Yep, the DJI Mini 2 is a great drone! If it does what you want, then awesome stuff!!!
Turkey watt???? 😂 good info
Cheers!
@@masque7374 I would still grab a copy of resolve. its free and professional cinema graders use it for a reason. lots of people dont think they need to go down that deep, but its worth spending the time. if youre just shooting clips for tick tock or Facebook then yeah, no need. but if you want your stuff to actually look good then you should dive in. you wont regret it
Is dat a tirty wot charger
Very good
Another mistake might be that DJI Flymore Bag - But here's a decent replacement, watch it here - ua-cam.com/video/S5UtHmWqzGQ/v-deo.html
Just crashed my drone in sports mode into a house because the braking distance was so long im literally so pissed and sad 😔
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Have you got the refresh?
Super 😎🤝🤝
Thanks Jesus :)
Fun fact... when it hits the automatic RTH and shoots up to the programmed altitude, the drone doesn't care if you're beneath a canopy of trees...
...jetting straight into pine trees at 20m above the ground!
Ask me how I know...
if thats true its a pretty big oversight by DJI. it shouldn't have taken much to at least put a cheaper sensor on the top
Hi, I thought I was eligible for a 50% discount? I was still charged $10 US.
Hey Russ. That is the discounted price. Sorry if that’s not clear
Thanks Vic, As a good old Canadian boy I’m always looking for a deal. By the way I love your channel and mini 3 content. I’m having connection issues with mine. Are you experiencing any issues with yours?
You've got your drone footage, NOW what's the best way to edit it - ua-cam.com/video/C_SRcdgcib8/v-deo.html
How do I get over being terrified to fly it
You just have to fly it. Do small flights first. Like really small flights.
I only use sports mode to get to where I want to film or take pictures in quick time . Otherwise I never use it
Yeah, that's a fair point.
Vic, how many is Turdy?? bwhahahaa!!
You seem intelligent especially with the car comment, I’m sure you’ll figure it out 😕😂🙏😜
this cant be the first time you heard this accent. its a funny joke but after a few million times it gets old.
i lost my mini 1 like this at the beach 200m infront of me. phone crashed it returned to home so high that probably got blownaway
Look up 😅 day 3 of flying my drone and I took off and nearly hit a phone wire
Ouch. Nearly though 😂 but yep. Definitely look up. Happens me all the time 😀
Mini 1 Mini 2 Mini 3 Mini 4 Mini 5 all will be the same don'ts.
