I grew up watching smallville and I can't help it but compare every superhero show to them! They paved the way and they did and still did it better! It's a early 2000s show and still did it better to special effects, characters, acting and the writing! I watched Gotham season 1 great then after that 😪 nope

This is why Smallville had the best superspeed running than The CW's The Flash.
They didn't cut corners on the running motion for the special fx than in The Flash, the majority superspeed motions were all just them wave their arms like idiots while standing still.

You can't free fall in superspeed Clark
Unless he can overpower the planet's gravity, or fly, which he doesn't at that point
Superman possesses some level of telekinesis enough to achieve this he does this without his knowledge.
He could have just ran down the wall of the dam actually to produce more momentum.
To move as fast as he does and to remain in contact with the ground means to have some form of control over gravity, so that is not a stretch. If you think of just simple biomechanics of running it involves gravity pulling you back down to take the next step, and when he runs as fast as he does gravity is too weak and he would end up floating with every step at superspeed. And when he moves faster than 7 km/s, without altering gravity he would just end up floating into orbit or escape the Earth altogether. So he is altering gravity somehow to use superspeed at all times anyway.

They don't, he has an aura that protects his clothes.
This aura is the reason why many things don't hurt him, like knives. Some things can bypass it easily though, like Magic. So a magic knife would cut him as if he were human
It's basically a canonical reason that explains why his clothes don't get destroyed, unlike Hulk's pants, which are indestructible for no reason.

Normal humans in Marvel and DC are stronger than real humans.
For example, Peter Parker sent Flash Thompson flying with a single punch (in both the movie and comics). A real human would have died (because normal punches have killed before), yet Flash wasn't even unconscious.

The series is about him growing up and learning his powers and eventually becoming Superman. Flight is the last power he developed
He had the ability to do it since the first season (he was floating while sleeping), but he didn't know how to do it on command.
He has actually flown before, but he wasn't himself (basically brainwashed) so it doesn't count.
I think he always knew how to fly. His command just wasn’t good enough to control it.
