      No. Mini phones aren't selling well. Seems like 99.9% people just want 6.6+ inch screen.

      @@arthstg Make less than. It should still be a profitable market segment if you scale manufacturing correctly. Not everything needs to sell 40million units. If Chinese manufacturers can make 50,000 $50 emulation game boys things and be profitable... Apple can make smaller iphones and justify it's existence easily.

    • @arthstg
      @arthstg 3 місяці тому

      @@Valoric i think the price is one of the most important factors. first, many people need a compact 2nd phone, but the options are too expensive for a mere 2nd phone.
      second, lower class of indian men, indonesian, and bangladeshi have average heigh of 5ft5 or 165 cm. thats really big population, meaning plenty of people want a small phone.
      problem is that 3 countries have really small income. many of them need to saving up almost year or more just to buy cheapest flagship phone. not to mention most womans in the world are small too.
      i wish xiaomi, infinix or tecno make small phones for under $350. especially they make copy of iphone 13 mini

    The best cameras are on the biggest phones, yet I won't buy a phone if I can't use it with one hand.
    Smaller phones from years back, I still consider better.
    I think they can't fit bigger upgrades into the same size phones each year, so keep going up. If consumers see basically no hardware differences between last year's phone and current, they're unlikely to upgrade.
    If you don't play super intense games and need the best camera, there's basically no reason to upgrade over the past years with marginal differences in experience. Sure the specs have vastly improved over time, but the actual experience difference is marginal.
    I've finally convinced myself to maybe try iPhone, and I'm torn between iPhone 15 Pro (6.12") or iPhone 13 Mini (5.42").
    Right now I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 (6.1"); I can reach the top one-handed, have big hands, but it's uncomfortable.

    Precisely why i downgraded from a Pixel 7a to one of the Iphone SE's that came out in the last few years. The pain i would get in my hand has now mostly gone away with the SE.
    Apple were one of the last few phone makers producing an actual compact smartphone. But i hear if the leaks and rumours are true they'll be abandoning the small size with the next SE to the same size as the 7a, which'll really suck for those of us with these problems.
    And i hear there won't be another numbered Iphone Mini like the 12 or 13 Mini either. Sucks even more. Reviewers seem to really like the Mini range. Especially the 13. Apparently it's because the smaller phones aren't selling as well. That and being able to fit more and newer tech in a bigger body.

      Yes. What pass as compact phones of today would have been ridiculued for their size 8 or so years ago; your options for a feature set phone at even a semi-reasonable size is limited.
      Call it a first world problem, but even in impiverished nations smartphones are common, being basically a necessity elsewhere, and old tech loses support and functionality, while requirements become ever more demanding.
