I literally bought this yesterday. I am a brand new beginner drummer - this is my first kit. I have barely stopped playing it so far, i am very happy with it so far. Get the Extended warranty.
Thanks for the comment, it's a great beginners kit, happy drumming!
I combined 2 kits the possibilities are endless thousands of sounds at my finger tips
Wait till bro gets a roland
Update?
Really enjoyed this review, thank you. Yes like everyone else who owns this kit I only really like a limited number of the preset kits and sounds, but that limited number still make for some remarkably great sounding customized kits. Add a good stereo reverb unit and the Alesis Nitro Mesh sounds and records great! And both the bass drum pad and pedal and hi hat pedal are so much beefier than I was expecting. Honestly there's nothing that even comes close for $299. I absolutely love my Nitro Mesh kit. Its overall construction, responsiveness and playability straight out of the box far exceeds it's price, and I love how little space it takes up in my modest home recording studio's already limited space.
So glad i stumbled on this video i just got this for my first kit.thank you for the video
Many thanks for your review video, as I am a first time buyer of electronic drums, and I have now purchased this mesh kit with confidence 😊
I'm really glad this helped, thank you so much.
This is a good kit, infact I got it a few days ago and saw your tutorial on how to set it up! Your channel is very informative, and the videos are also made in a very nice way. Your channel is great and definetely deserves a sub!!😊😊😊
Thank you very much! So glad we’re helping.
Buying this kit tomorrow
thanks for your review, it helped me make my choice! I just bought one on marketplace, thanks!
Amazing, so glad we could help, enjoy, happy drumming!
I got this kit a few years back to learn the arrangements of our originals @ home, and to improve, doing exercises. A bit later, I was thinking of getting a bigger kick tower, but instead I bought a 2nd identical Nitro Mesh kick tower & pedal (got cheap), then hooked it up via a "mono" 2-way splitter (1/4 inch), to have actual double bass. This way, both kick towers have the exact same settings, as well, as they share an input. Need the double bass with playing old school prog metal.
I bought a kick pad from Thomann that fits double pedals :)
Also, would running this kit through a software (superior drummer for example) improve the dynamics?
I love this kit but the rack is so small. Luckily, furniture risers fixed the height issue but it still seems quite narrow width-wise.
Sounds like it's what I need. Cheers mate
A few years ago I'd played a Roland higher end kit at Guitar Center. I"m a guitarist, first and foremost, but that Roland kit sounded absolutely phenomenal. Of course
they ran it through a very good drum PA. But that Roland kit had to be at least $1200 or so. The built in kits in the brain seemed fine to me, but again, I'm an amateur
drummer and know guitars a lot better! But that was also not a beginner kit.
Amazing video, i agree with all the points you said. The sounds of the kit are not that good indeed but you can use programs on your laptop to output better sounds so its not really a problem anymore.
Hi, thanks for the comment, as it’s a beginner kit most of its users will be people that won’t be using it with a laptop for better sounds but yes, something like Superior Drummer through Logic makes the kits sound great.
I’m happy with the sounds on board
@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool Well, I don't know. Perhaps those who pass down the knowledge are just not too willing to go into it, because my use case is also a 0-minute total beginner who absolutely would use software to get a good sound as cheap as possible.
Thanks for a really great informative video! I am a total noob on drums and I can't decide between this or Roland TD-02KV. Any advice? 😅
been looking at the possibility of buying a second nitro mesh (secondhand) and use the 2 modules to create a bigger looking Kit double kick ect...
Would the midi out to midi in work to combine or would it be best to use standard 6.3 jacks from each of the Left/mono to a mixer and connect that way?
The Nitro Mesh has expansion slots on the back of the module for you to plug in a second bass drum and another drum pad/cymbal pad, or plug in an official kit expansion kit from Alesis. Seems like overkill but in theory what you plan on doing should work, while I've not tried it myself my suggestion would be to use the jack leads into a mixer/audio interface for sure. Good luck!
Glad I found your video. I just bought this kit yesterday and am starting to play for the first time. Do you have any advice for someone like me, who finds the technique of keeping right and left separation very difficult. Basically, both my right and left hands plus feet just want to play the same way all the time. I am sure you get this question all the time but I am really keen to at least understand the basics of keeping the feet and hands doing different things. I have subbed now and will follow you for more advice from now on. Cheers from Dave
Got the hang of it yet? :)
Hey, can you play the ride bell on this kit? Looking to get it but currently practicing mr blue sky 😜
Thanks a lot for This review. I'll but a kit soon. I hesitate between the nitro Mesh and the DTX 402k from Yamaha. An advice ?
100% the Nitro Mesh between the two, the pads are better and the pedal is way more future proof.
Hey team. How can one use this kit with headphones... But watching say a lesson on laptop with druneo at the same time? Is this possible. Or do I need to say use one ear monitor and have laptop playing separately...
Hi, thanks for the comment, you can plug a laptop/device into the drum kit brain using an aux cable, the sound of that will then go through the brain into the headphones you have plugged in. This is ideal for watching a lesson or playing along with music. Enjoy!
Perfect kit for jamming with friends (no stage work), complements country/rock/pop styles music, inexpensive. Will invest in a regular snare stand to increase stability.
Ever use your heels when just sitting around? You beats using your heels? I have a Nitro and I turned my high-hat and bass pedal backwards. I had to take the bass pedal apart to make it work,
Which space in a room do you need to play comfortably? 1m x 1m is enough? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the comment, when set up the Nitro Mesh Kit will be about 65cm wide and 60 cm deep, so should comfortably fit in a space 1m x 1m. I hope that helps! Thanks, Kev.
Is there a way to use backing tracks in the headphones while playing?
Hi, if you play the backing track on a device and plug that device into the 'aux input' on the electric drum kit module using an aux cable, the track as well as the drums will play through the headphones. I hope that helps!
So this may be weird....hell I am weird....but I have always used my heels when just sitting around hearing songs in my head. SOOOOoooooo.....I turned my high-hat and bass drum pedals backwards on my Alesis Nitro and use my heels. Am I crazy????? It feels so smooth...oh yeah I am a guitar player that loves to play the drums. So yeah I have not owned a kit since the 70s...had a nice set of Pearls.
Thanks
Estou em dúvida entre uma dessas e uma medeli mz528. Qual a melhor?
Good review. A video of you just playing some beats, doing a short demo would have been helpful 👍
Hi, thanks for the comment, from 3:21 to 3:51 I do a quick demonstration of the kit, and I mention that I've done another video playing through all of the different sounds on the kit with a link in the description, here it is in case you missed it: ua-cam.com/video/LVmnhd4ydrs/v-deo.html
Comparing this to the Surge kit or the Donner Ded-200, out of the three, which one do you think is the best for a beginner?
It's too bad there's no option for a good size, more durable bass drum tower/pad that will take almost any weight or amount kick drum pedals. It would be well worth
investing in one if available, since it's just frustrating to have a moving, sluggish etc. kick drum pad or tower. A standard acoustic kit you usually don't have such issues,
if the kit and pedals are any good.
Hey ! Whats up, you doing good?😊
Got this a couple months back I hate the rims the quality is low for beginners its great but it's super small drums 18 inch drums are very very weird to me as I'm use to 24 inch so take that with a grain of salt
❤
Keep in mind that if your's (like mine) is defective Alesis will offer to fix it in 2 - 6 weeks...
Are you tall? the kit looks real tiny
I like my set, but I'm still the Bass player!!!
looks very small
You have the “Beata” on backwards bro
Hi, thanks for the comment, as per guidance from Alesis themselves, you shouldn't use the felt side of the beater on their bass drum pads, there's a mesh head under the rubber that can be damaged by the friction created from the felt side. This is true for any mesh head bass drum pad.
@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool sorry it doesn’t look like felt on the video. Simmons tells you not to use the hard plastic side on their kickers instead the white side which is not felt but a solid more rubbery substance
Some user error I saw....the felt on the kick pedal goes toward the kick drum. that keeps you from wearing out the drumhead from hitting it with the hard plastic side
Hi, thanks for the comment, as per the guidance directly from Alesis the plastic side of the beater should be facing the bass drum pad on all of their mesh drum kits, the felt can actually damage the pads more than the plastic. It seems counterintuitive so that's why I contacted the company directly to find out for sure.
@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool that is good to know as i am buying a Nitro Mesh kit. I would have been the one making the mistake. Thank you for your research and reply
Thanks
