Im down for some 25 facts about SMG 2 on a separate video. Like these facts are genuinely interesting but let's stick on games that are on the collection. Not trying to be rude or anything.
I preordered all stars the day after it was announced lol I’m so excited. 64 and galaxy are two of my all time favorite games and sunshine is a completely new game for me. I’m so excited to play all of them 🤩
I can’t wait for it to come out on the 18th. I want it most for Super Mario Sunshine. It was the first game I have ever played and I want to revisit it so bad.
OBJECTION!!! It’s a myth that the first 3D Mario game was being worked on for the SNES, Miyamoto himself has said that 64 was the first one they ever worked on. The myth came about because the Super FX chip’s nickname was Super Mario FX. And thus the idea came about that an FX game for the SNES was in development at some point. The only game the SFX chip was truly made for was Star Fox, and the only “3D” Mario game to use it was Yoshi’s Island technically, I would say Super Mario Katy but I don’t remember if it used it or not.
Imagine someone reading a playboy magazine, "playing like a boy", when they suddenly find an advertisement for an upcoming main series Mario game. They stop everything they're doing, clean up the room and go to the store to see if it's there.
Lots of the facts were really interesting but the fact about climbing on top of the pole is wrong as getting on top of the pole in super mario bros only gives 5000 points and not a one up, that was only added in new super mario bros so maybe nsmb was actually a reference to super mario 64 and not the other way.
I’ve played Super Mario 64 DS ever since getting my DS in 2009 and I’ve played Super Mario Galaxy since getting my Wii in the same year. I got Sunshine in 2011 but never played it past the first level since it was too hard for 7 year old me. I got Super Mario 64 on the N64 in 2012 but never played it since it wasn’t my childhood version. I’ve always regretted never playing the original 64 or Sunshine and can’t wait to experience these great games on the Switch. It might be backlog, but I can’t express how much that backlog means to me.
Also Mario says, “So long-a Bowser!” If you don’t believe me try saying it yourself, and pronounce the a as you would in “pay” or “yay” it’s easy to hear, and the only reason why it’s missing from the 3D Collection is because it’s using an updated JPN copy of the game that includes rumble and a few other tweaks, like the removal of the BLJ’s speed storage. And since Bowser is known as King Koopa in Japan they didn’t use that line of dialogue, this is from 1997 indicated by the copyright date on the title screen. Check the GameXplain video that they just released for that one.
5:34 You couldn't get a 1-up from the flagpole in Super Mario Bros., it gave 5000 points. Getting 1-ups at the top of the flagpole wasn't until after Super Mario 64 in a few e-Reader levels in Super Mario Advance 4, then later New Super Mario Bros. 9:35 The Miyamoto quote is a rumor, it's pretty funny though
I think this is a really cool video, but I'm still just WAITING for a 25 things about SMO you didn't know, try me, I bet I'll know everything in the vid! lol. I'm curious what you'd come up with tho. :)
1:46 Really wished you mentioned that the voice of the Boo laugh and Bowser laugh is Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, but from a sound pack that was made long before he even got the job as the voice of Mario. If you Google "Sound Ideas, HUMAN, LAUGH - COMICAL LAUGH: MALE", then it'll show up as one of the first results.
10:13 Actually, Splatoon devs have gone on record and said that they don’t really remembered Sunshine while doing Splatoon and, to the shame of a Nintendo worker, they didn’t even know the game existed. 12:14 It’s a theory by me, but maybe it’s a reference to Sunshine. Adding a playable character from the most recent game is a common practice by Nintendo. 13:46 To further link Majora’s Mask and Galaxy 2, Miyamoto often compared the two, as they were sequels done on the same engine as their predecessors in a shorter amount of time and started as expansions of the original game. 13:56 That was not a phase! It was the original design of the fight but it was not able to be done due to technical limitations on the n64. This concept, along with many found in Ocarina of Time, inspired the Playstation 2 exclusive, Shadow of the Colossus. 15:24 This candy also inspired the Graditude Crystals in Skyward Sword! 15:50 No, Grandmaster Galaxy is unlocked after collecting 120 regular stars and a 120 Green Stars. You unlock the perfect run, the last mission of the game, by grabbing the commet medal and getting 9999 Star Bits
Correction: the sequal for Super Mario 64 was Super Mario 64 2 for the 64DD Also. In the original Super Mario Bros for Nes or Famicom you didn't get a 1-up for the top of the flag pole. That only happened in Super Mario Bros 2 for the Famicom but you need specifc circumstances
If I recall correctly, I don’t know if they ever made a full prototype on the Super FX Chip. Super Mario FX was it’s internal codename. Also, Mario 128 was a tech demo, and it was the first prototype that inspired Mario Galaxy. I’m also 99% sure the book in Sunshine does not say “You have no life”
5:24 Arin from Game Grumps did that on accident when they did their Super Mario 64 playthrough and I've been confused for years as to how that happened. I'm glad to finally have an answer.
At 22:22 They are missing the Lucky Bell, Goomba Mask, and the Ice Skates. (And the red[p-up]/green[star]/blue[p] coins as the regular coins are counted. You could also include the Green, Red, and Regular Coin Rings and P-Switches.)
*Fun SM64 fact:* When you slow down the enemy bounce sound very very much, it will sound like "Ha-ha-ha-ha...". Pannenkoek2012's video where he collects the HMC 100 coins star proves this.
What's interesting about the scrapped Ganon fight idea is that something similar happens at the end of breathe of the wild. You know, with the light arrow shooting
5:27 Luigi: You ever heard of the Butterfly Effect? Mario: No. Luigi: *Explains the Butterfly effect* Mario: I don't get it, I need an example. Luigi: Okay, ummmm... punch that butterfly over there. Mario: *Punches the Butterfly* Butterfly: OW WHAT THE ACTUAL F- *Explodes*
So about those butterflies... Have you found the butterflies that turn into 1-ups? These were Easter eggs designed to encourage exploring everything possible. I'm the bomb butterflies much later in the game were akin to making a troll, or perhaps to designate that the difficulty was ramping up (even in the easter eggs) similar to how SMB2(the lost levels) introduces mario to the poison mushroom straight away, signifying how that game was not treating the player with "kid gloves" any more.
I pre ordered it and don't even own a switch YET, mario 64 was the most ground breaking game as a child i can't wait to play it again as well as playing the other two for the first time

Fun fact: mario actually says, "So long, King-a Bowser!" It was tweeted by Mario's voice actor.
My heart is like genuinely happy for this release. I’ve wanted 64 on switch since I got it!
5:24 SO THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO ARIN THAT TIME
I love how you're using Galaxy 2 footage to rub salt in the wound XD. Great video though!
These are facts about the original games, not the 3d all stars collection.
Mario4736 which is a collection of these games
OBJECTION!!! It’s a myth that the first 3D Mario game was being worked on for the SNES, Miyamoto himself has said that 64 was the first one they ever worked on. The myth came about because the Super FX chip’s nickname was Super Mario FX. And thus the idea came about that an FX game for the SNES was in development at some point. The only game the SFX chip was truly made for was Star Fox, and the only “3D” Mario game to use it was Yoshi’s Island technically, I would say Super Mario Katy but I don’t remember if it used it or not.
Why do I have déjà vu at the end?...
*I’m genuinely confused*
its the 4 fun facts videos mixed into 1 big
Well, thank you!
Imagine someone reading a playboy magazine, "playing like a boy", when they suddenly find an advertisement for an upcoming main series Mario game. They stop everything they're doing, clean up the room and go to the store to see if it's there.
Also, that was clever - 00:04:39
Lots of the facts were really interesting but the fact about climbing on top of the pole is wrong as getting on top of the pole in super mario bros only gives 5000 points and not a one up, that was only added in new super mario bros so maybe nsmb was actually a reference to super mario 64 and not the other way.
why does this not have more likes I was literally looking for this comment
True but you can get a 1up from top of the pole in The Lost Levels (if both coins digits and last timer digit match)
actually its 8000 points i think
@@jessmarkwell you can look for a flagpole compilation on youtube, prosafia's got the 1up documented
I never had a chance to play Sunshine or Galaxy, I’m beyond stoked to finally try them out! I can’t wait for the 18th!
Fun fact: L is real
Ocarina Of Time: Ok I will give you an entire castle for a horse.
SM64: Deal
I know just about everything about 64 - curious!
And so we meet again...
Did you know about the secret 1-Up Mushroom on top of Whomp's Fortress?
Mario 3D All Stars: *Gets announced*
Super Mario Galaxy 2 & Super Mario 3D Land: "Am I a joke to you"
I’ve played Super Mario 64 DS ever since getting my DS in 2009 and I’ve played Super Mario Galaxy since getting my Wii in the same year.
Imagine if we can play as Luigi in Mario 64. FINALLY!!!!
It's finally happening...i live for moments like these.
Italians must’ve been confused when they saw the main NPC’s in Super Mario Sunshine were called “Plant”.
We weren't because they're called "Palmensi" here :')
(From "palma", palm, and -ense/-ensi, a suffix used in words for geographic origins)
Doc's secret shop of something Oh, well that probably makes more sense than “Plant”.
Watching this video got me more excited for Super Mario 3D Allstars
This video was so great! I really appreciate all of the hard work that was put into this! Can't thank you enough!
I think this is a really cool video, but I'm still just WAITING for a 25 things about SMO you didn't know, try me, I bet I'll know everything in the vid! lol. I'm curious what you'd come up with tho. :)
1:46
Really wished you mentioned that the voice of the Boo laugh and Bowser laugh is Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, but from a sound pack that was made long before he even got the job as the voice of Mario.
The chain chomp in Bomb-Omb Battlefield still gives me anxiety and jumpscares.
I can’t get enough of all these random facts about all these games I’ve never played lmfao
I preordered this game and cannot wait to be a kid again.
I dont know why but every time I hear Jump Up Superstar I start getting emotional lol
Correction: the sequal for Super Mario 64 was Super Mario 64 2 for the 64DD
Also. In the original Super Mario Bros for Nes or Famicom you didn't get a 1-up for the top of the flag pole. That only happened in Super Mario Bros 2 for the Famicom but you need specifc circumstances
are the sunshine facts ripped from the other 25 facts video you did?
and the 3d world ones sound familiar too
"Leave my mama alone you bad man!"- bowser Jr.
Lmfao
If I recall correctly, I don’t know if they ever made a full prototype on the Super FX Chip. Super Mario FX was it’s internal codename. Also, Mario 128 was a tech demo, and it was the first prototype that inspired Mario Galaxy. I’m also 99% sure the book in Sunshine does not say “You have no life”
5:24 Arin from Game Grumps did that on accident when they did their Super Mario 64 playthrough and I've been confused for years as to how that happened. I'm glad to finally have an answer.
Love these kinds of videos coming from you bro! Awesome video!
*Fun SM64 fact:* This game makes young kids have dreams at night about fake castle rooms.
Can’t wait for this game
At 22:22 They are missing the Lucky Bell, Goomba Mask, and the Ice Skates. (And the red[p-up]/green[star]/blue[p] coins as the regular coins are counted. You could also include the Green, Red, and Regular Coin Rings and P-Switches.)
"Leave my mama alone you bad man!" Or "Leave my mama alone you batman!"
There are so many interesting facts about these games! The most interesting was number 2!
*Fun SM64 fact:* When you slow down the enemy bounce sound very very much, it will sound like "Ha-ha-ha-ha...". Pannenkoek2012's video where he collects the HMC 100 coins star proves this.
Why do I feel déjà vu watching this
What's interesting about the scrapped Ganon fight idea is that something similar happens at the end of breathe of the wild. You know, with the light arrow shooting
I love your videos! So interesting to watch. I'm definitely going to check out your potcasts👍

Luigi: You ever heard of the Butterfly Effect?
Mario: No.
Luigi: *Explains the Butterfly effect*
Mario: I don't get it, I need an example.
Luigi: Okay, ummmm... punch that butterfly over there.
Mario: *Punches the Butterfly*
Butterfly: OW WHAT THE ACTUAL F- *Explodes*
So about those butterflies... Have you found the butterflies that turn into 1-ups? These were Easter eggs designed to encourage exploring everything possible. I'm the bomb butterflies much later in the game were akin to making a troll, or perhaps to designate that the difficulty was ramping up (even in the easter eggs) similar to how SMB2(the lost levels) introduces mario to the poison mushroom straight away, signifying how that game was not treating the player with "kid gloves" any more.
19:38 The Koopa will actually chase the shell, even if it'll kill the Koopa, but will eventually give up and then start chasing Mario.
Ive been watching you for a while now. You deserve a subscriber.
Thomas, you are extremely underrated on UA-cam and should get way more subscribers. Make sure to remember me when u hit one mil
I have recently invested 75 dollars originally to buy Mario Party for my family. Now I have 15 bucks and this game digitally pre-ordered B)
I pre ordered it and don't even own a switch YET, mario 64 was the most ground breaking game as a child i can't wait to play it again as well as playing the other two for the first time
