that scene where the hero has his little flashback in his hometown while talking to the woman, is honestly one of my favorite scenes, i love how they integrated the flashback into the present conversation, even now, as clunky as it looks, the transition is solid, and i love it
To this day that ptsd flashback the hero of oakvale has is one of the greatest little cutscenes of all time. That’s how you build a character without a voice
@@SinjinBarrettit just went to shoe how much they cared about the detail. You watched your whole family and village get slaughtered as like a 5 year old boy and it shows that night is still haunting your hero, especially when you finally go back to where it happened
@@jagaloon14 Sure, maybe ijust dont get his point, its just ive found many other cutscenes much better. Like his sister's flashbacks. Or when he meets Jack. I feel like those had a bigger impact than a random girl you got a teddy for.
Fable was such a big part of my childhood, I love it. It was pretty much first "new" game on "new" pc for a kid, who only played 2d games from 90s before, like starcraft, homm3 or warcraft 2 and diablo 2. And when I found out not only you can make "evil" choices, but they also affect things? My mind was blown to pieces.
It was good for when we don’t know he’s the guy who destroyed Oakvale and our family. After that the new voice is good to show Jack isn’t human and has been deceiving us and all other humans.
It's been so long since I've played fable and I was thinking how odd it was that I remembered his voice being so different so I'm so glad you made me realize I wasn't crazy lol. BTW I definitely like the original voice better
@David Cheney OK but just look at Jack. At first Glance, you can tell he's sinister. Even his tone of voice is evil. His first interaction with you is asking to to kill Whisper. This guy is evil without doubt.
The stealth section was never a problem for younger me, because I became rather good at decapitating bandits with arrows. Can't imagine how frustrating it would be to actually sneak past all of em.

A side note. Some of the side quests you completed prior to killing Jack the first time were also part of the lost chapters. The game was a little bare before the dlc came to life, but it didn't stop me from completing it hundreds of times before the dlc came to be. The greatest disappointment from the original was getting the sword of aeons and having absolutely no reason to have it. The game was over, everything worth killing was dead. i love that the algorithm randomly suggested this video to me, fable is my favourite game series, and I absolutely agree with most of your points, I only really disagreed on your point in fable 2, when you said the choices in fable 2 arent obvious, maybe its because I have been playing the game since launch, but although its not down to the point of this is good this is bad, I still think it was pretty obvious which was the right answers to go for on a good play through, I love this channel and have been watching all your other videos and hope you get the subscribers you deserve
Great video, this game is nostalgic but man does it still hold up for me. The main menu music for fable the lost chapters is still one of the best tracks in a game for me, it's called summer fields for those who want to listen to it
I think the dialogue lines are fine in their spacing. Better than the five second delay between lines in games like the elder scrolls. It feels like a natural talking pace for somewhere that just talks fast. I know that there are places in the US that talk faster than that.
I love the fables series and it took me forever just to even play the first one. I would constantly reread the game informer magazine that had so much cut content on Fable. I still prefer the Lost chapters over anniversary because of how drastic some of the changes in anniversary are to model faces and Jack's voice being too modulated.
@yourfavouriteson Hey dude, your work is appreciated. We like what you are doing. Me and my brother loved your soul reaver review. Would you be so kind as to review Elder Scrolls series from first game to skyrim.
Really glad you chose Sabre for your good Hero. That was my chosen name too. Only things I hated in the original game were aging to a near old man when gaining all the powers of each Hero aspect, and that armor did not really preventing scarring

I find it strange that people find anniversary edition to be more pleasing to the eye. looks muddy, sad and weird when compared to a cozy original vision.
Thanks, son. You're making these quick. I'm so proud
Every time I hear you says "hi dad, it's your favorite son" it makes me think of my boy Scotty who is 16 and wants to be a game designer.
Now I have two boys, both awesome, there is no real favoritism.
That said, I hope you crush at life man.
Kick ass without fear every day and be great.
Thank you for the content.
This was genuinely inspirational....dad.
@@YourFavoriteSon1 we are totally marathoning your videos next weekend I have them.
Between legacy of kain and dmc, that I'm now starting my 10 year old daughter on they're gonna love it.
@@YourFavoriteSon1 be great and fearless always.... son
Hoooly shit, you really ARE my favorite son! Hyped to watch it this evening
Just found your channel and this video. Absolutely love the narration you do along with the game analysis. Cheers mate!
I can't believe i watched the whole thing, that is a first for me. I absolutely loved this retrospective video.
I've literally watched this video about 8 times, I can't wait for your fable 2 video!
Nice video son, very excited for the 25 hour long retrospective of every assassins creed game!
I loved the Fable games!! Jack of Blades's voice is done perfectly. That voice is the voice of evil. Could you imagine a heroic character out of fiction, like Dante in Devil May cry, with that voice?! People would attack him just on his voice alone.
But, why does Theresa sound like she's about to become a deathbed companion that gives the best hugs?
An entire series of fable retrospectives?
Sign me tf up!
i love that the algorithm randomly suggested this video to me, fable is my favourite game series, and I absolutely agree with most of your points, I only really disagreed on your point in fable 2, when you said the choices in fable 2 arent obvious, maybe its because I have been playing the game since launch, but although its not down to the point of this is good this is bad, I still think it was pretty obvious which was the right answers to go for on a good play through, I love this channel and have been watching all your other videos and hope you get the subscribers you deserve
I love Fable. Still play them from time to time. I was excited to see this on my feed.
Great video, this game is nostalgic but man does it still hold up for me. The main menu music for fable the lost chapters is still one of the best tracks in a game for me, it's called summer fields for those who want to listen to it
I married lady grey, because i was a man of culture in 2004 (14 at the time).
Fable HITSposting gang check in!
I think the dialogue lines are fine in their spacing. Better than the five second delay between lines in games like the elder scrolls. It feels like a natural talking pace for somewhere that just talks fast. I know that there are places in the US that talk faster than that.
Subbed at 12.5k, remember us when you hit 2mil
Will do Dad!
It's on the list dad
Holy shit. This is an amazing review/retrospective! Fantastic. I hope you keep making videos. Will be watching more :)
Easily my favorite essay youtuber, im proud of you son
thanks dad!
SWEET! Time to adjust my PC date to get those backrents!
Absolutely love this long format man, high quality content. Subbed right away
Thanks Dad!
Really glad you chose Sabre for your good Hero. That was my chosen name too. Only things I hated in the original game were aging to a near old man when gaining all the powers of each Hero aspect, and that armor did not really preventing scarring
Gotta love the Little Red Riding Hood reference with Scarlet Robe being known for slaying Balverines with an axe
And here I was just recently thinking wonder what his next video is going to be and then you pull out this That's my boy I knew there was a reason you were my favorite son
It warms my heart hearing that Anniversary is the easiest to use because it’s pretty obvious you didn’t throw your money away getting the 360 version.
Fable taught me that if you're evil and rude, you'll go bald. So be good people
This is a great video very well researched. I appreciate that you took the time to show both perspectives of this game. If you enjoy Kotor or Kotor 2 I think this style could work well with those games.
Well get there dad!
