- This is a long explanation from George Lucas, printed in The Making of Star Wars Return of the Jedi, about Anakin Skywalker, Palpatine, Order 66, Padme, Leia, Luke Skywalker, and the end of the prequels, far before they were filmed.
This video will also explain why Leia says she remembers her mother in Return of the Jedi.

He was the best star pilot in the galaxy and a cunning warrior. And he was a good friend.
Fun fact: at that point in filming, Anakin and Vader were two different characters so when Alec Guinness delivered his lines in that scene, he thought that was the real story.

Which reminds me, your father wanted you to have this when you were old enough.

maby
This is what I always thought. He failed Anakin and he became Darth Vader and obi-wan didn’t want the same thing to happen to Luke.
He literally said I failed you to anakin so that theory would make sense
Man’s probably dealing with his own PTSD and didn’t want to pass that on to Luke. Then there’s Uncle Owen who clearly didn’t want Obi-Wan to have any influence on Luke.
Thats hard to say , obi wan was overly critical of himself, anakin also failed himself
I love hearing George’s mind working on the prequels years before they came out
I know that people don’t hate the prequels as much nowadays, but still, maybe he could’ve worked a bit harder on them before he made them.

I absolutely LOVE hearing Lucas talk about the Prequels like this. Really goes to show how much he had all this planned and it just took some tweaks to get it to where it was. He's the most unique film maker in History.
As far as Obi-Wan not training Luke, "from a certain point of view" he was doing everything correctly. He waited for the Force to guide him and Luke to the place it needed them.
Amen
Most likely the line of thinking was just to prevent Luke from learning about the Force until absolutely necessary.
Luke becoming a Force wielder at a young age may have prematurely revealed his existence to Palpatine.
the way you put it at the end with the force guiding him sounds exactly like what Qui-Gon would have done and what he would have wanted Obi-Wan to do, so Obi-Wan definitely made is old master proud.
Order 66 is one of the most shocking scenes in cinema history
Not if you watched the OT and read a few comics before the Prequels, even as a kid watching Episode I in 1999, I knew Palpatine was the Emperor's name

@Ded_ Youngling you haven't seen nothing yet. You got 2 more seasons to go.
It’s kind of poetic that he wrote the lava scene first and that’s basically the last scene he shot of Star Wars. Beginning and end.
Poetic indeed.
It's like poetry, it rhymes.
A lot of people don't know this, but the canon reason Leia remembers Padmé is because she had force psycometry. When she was little, when she touched items at Bails house that Padmé had interacted with in the past, she got visions of her mother, visions Leia couldn't explain. But she eventually put things together and figured out some details about Padmé.
I think there's a brief moment of that in the Revenge of the Sith book, when Anakin is looking around Padme's apartment and can feel who has been there recently
It’s also because they weren’t twins originally. Promotional material at the time said Luke and Leia were a couple years apart.
I think cal from fallen order has that same power too
I’ve never heard that before, but I feel like it would be easier to explain by just reframing Leigha’s comments on Endor to refer to her adopted mother, Sen. Organa’s wife. It’s completely reasonable that she died while Leigha was young, and whether or not she knew she was adopted wouldn’t matter. If she didn’t know, fine; if she did, she could well just consider Organa her real mother since she’d never known her biological mother, an attitude common in real-world adopted children. No Force Psychometry required.
@@Sir_Poohheart that makes more sense to me. Always thought it just meant her adoptive mother

George really did have a vision of how Star Wars would unfurl.
Such a shame that he sold the rights to Disney
@Wally Webbs No. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are taking it in a better direction.
The reason why the sequels were a flaming pile of garbage was because Kathleen Kennedy was micro managing every aspect of the films in order to increase toy and merch sales.
On the other hand, she barely had any involvement with the Clone Wars and the Mandalorian. And we all know how incredible those shows are.
The only good thing she did (imo) is bringing Jon and Dave together. She was the one who suggested to Jon that he should work with Dave and get some ideas from the latter. And for that, I will be giving credit to her.
@@tanmaydeshpande Yeah Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are carrying the franchise right now. However, without Disney, we wouldn’t be able to have all of these new upcoming shows being announced. Kenobi had just failed Anakin, immediately jumping into doubling his money with the son isn’t the best. Luke was raised by good, normal, people to be a relatively more emotionally well adjusted person than Anakin was. It was to Luke’s advantage.
Fair enough that sounds right
Anakin was a slave to Watto. Slavery on Tatioone doesn't produce healthy force sensitives at all.
That's true. Obi Wan didn't know how to raise a child in a normal life. He would have just raised Luke as an isolated youngling. That would have resulted in a very different person. Being raised by Owen and Beru made Luke understand and appreciate how normal people live. It's the same reason Superman is biologically an alien, but his soul is human.

There was a comic book run from Dark Horse in about 2005 called Star Wars Infinities. It only covered the original trilogy, but it was basically a Star Wars "What If" or "Elseworlds", whichever you prefer.
YES
I think your take on Uncle Owen was way of the mark. He raised Luke as his own, knowing full well what had happened, risking his life and his wife to raise Luke in as safe an environment as possible - which eventually led to their deaths - but ultimately made Luke into the humble, caring and responsible person he grew up to be. Yes, Owen was overbearing and overprotective, and annoying, but for good reason. Owen knew exactly what had transpired, Obi-Wan obviously told him what had happened and the risks involved in raising Luke, but he did it anyway. There is no way Obi-Wan would have left out those details given the dangers associated with raising Anakin's son. Owen was a good man, who obviously cared for Luke and just wanted him to be safe and stay away from all the risks involved with his special gift, that's why he was so overprotective. He certainly did not ruin Luke's life, he enriched it by being Luke's adoptive father.
5:57: This is actually where Vader's "NOOOOOO!" in the Special Edition made sense, because it is a reflection of Revenge of the Sith, after Palpatine told him: "It seems in your anger, you killed her." Vader's "NOOOOOO!" there is the final transformation of Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader. When he screams "NOOOOOO!" in Return of the Jedi, he could not let Luke die, and this turns him back into Anakin Skywalker, because it was only here, at the last moment, that Vader was redeemed. In 1983, without the infamous "NOOOOO!" Vader's redemption came when he asked Luke to take his mask off, but here, with the added shout, we see Vader's transformation back into Anakin when it was supposed to happen.

That " DISTURBANCE" would of rocked him off the toilet that even his turd would wanna use the Holdo Manuver just to get back into his rectum.
I think obi-wan not raising Luke is smart. The emperor or vader would surely sense two powerful force sensitives convening with one another on a daily basis
I've said since 1978 that Vader is the good guy and seeing how he was treated in the prequels shows why.

I've always been super interested in hearing George Lucas's thoughts on the prequels so many years before they were made. I used to obsess over the connections between the OG trilogy and the prequels. The things that lined up and others that didn't so much. Great video.
The scenario of Padme living and the twins being alive when Anakin went evil is brilliant. I do see why GL changed it up, tho. How would Padme & Ben successfully hide the twins from anakin/vader? They would always be running.
And I could see Padme going to the Death Star to save their daughter.

George Lucas is one of the most talented creators ever.
Not only Star Wars but Indiana Jones too. Two masterpieces
I was just think that the reason why in canon Leia says she remembers her mother was because of a connection in the force which is why she remembers feelings.
I also think the reason why Ben didn’t train Luke is it would have created too strong of a disturbance in the force. He needed to wait until emperor and Vader were distracted, which the rebellion created. Because as soon as luke started training the emperor did feel the disturbance but the rebellion had grown strong enough to divide their attention. Had the full weight of the empire found Ben and Luke training they would have been wiped out fairly easily
"Nah he was a politician, Richard Nixon was his name."
_Hol' up_ ... Palpatine is space Nixon?
Well... in a general way. Funny to think about it now, but back in the 70s many saw Nixon as the epitome of corruption, about as vile as an American could be this side of Benedict Arnold. "Space Nixon" overthrew a "peaceful space republic" to create a "space empire" run by "space nazis." And the missing data tapes in R2 echo back to Nixon's missing 18 minutes of audio tape.
This is not what Lucas meant. He was making a small joke while they were doing this banter back and forth. Look at the novel Star wars. The very first pages state that Chancellor palpatine declared himself emperor. This book was written in 1976 and released when Star wars came out in 1977. It was Ghost written by Alan Dean Foster but full credit was given to George Lucas for writing it. The space Nixon thing was a joke.
There was definitely a lot of thought put behind the history of Star Wars before it even materialised with the prequels.
... shame the same wasn't applied to the Disney Trilogy but ah well.
Yah friggin disney was such in a hurry to test out there new toy that they didn't even sat for 5 mins trying to actually come up with actual plan instead of winging it all the way through
“Be careful of your thoughts, they betray you” if the theory of palpatine giving anakin those visions. Then he wasn’t wrong there.
Even though there are distinct differences between the prequels and the interview, it’s amazing how close the prequels turned to George’s original ideas 20 years before!
It's unreal how he had all of this in his head and translated it so well to written and filmed stories. I don't know of many others who could achieve this, if any at all.
I never knew that anything about the clone wars era was explained before the movies
The Star Wars movie adaptation had a two page into that, briefly and broadly, outlined the major plot points of the prequels. So I knew the basic story since 1977. I recall arguing with people when Episode 1 came out that Senator Palpatine was the Emperor. They asked how could I know that? I said, well first he's got the same face--it's the same actor. But also because it was in the original paperback...
anakins a good looking man
He was before he played "The floor is lava"
He was before he tried it
But a terrible character until clone wars
ngl that do be kinda true tho
hayden 😍
I do like how close the prequels stayed to this idea.
"Owen ruined Luke's life." What? He was trying very hard to raise him in a way that he wouldn't go down his father's path. And if you remember, Luke wanted to go to the Imperial Academy... Something Lars was trying to prevent without telling him that his mass murderer father would find him if he did that.
The death of Padme being the fear that drives Anakin to the dark side makes me wonder if Vader hated the Emperor following the prequels, but didn’t think he was powerful enough to defeat him. Hence what he says to Luke about him being able to destroy the Emperor and them ruling as father and son. After Padme dies, there’s no longer any reason to be fearful, so his power could’ve been driven by his passionate hatred of the emperor.
This was pretty much spelled out in the novelizations and such
@@benjaminvega7186 ah. I need to read that stuff...
Here’s how I look at it. We know Obi wan knew Luke was going to be the chosen one, he said it to Maul after cutting him down. Obi wan wanted Luke to live a simple life with a loving family, he ultimately wanted Luke to make the decision to be a good man on his own, same with the decision to become a Jedi. Living the simple and modest life Luke did in his younger years shaped him into a good person with a strong heart. Everything fell into place naturally with him, that’s why Luke wasn’t flawed in the same ways like his father. It’s the same thing as the Superman concept. Superman grew up on a farm learning how to be a good and honest person that worked hard for the little that they had, growing up thinking they were nothing special, till one day it all fell into place. Nothing was forced. Bothe Superman and Luke made the decision to fight for the well being of others and not themselves. Luke being a selfless person, unlike his father who was tormented and mocked as a slave in his childhood, hatred grew in his heart from a young age and he just couldn’t handle it. That’s the tragedy of it all. He was a good person that was deeply flawed and all the wrong things happened to him at the right time and it turned him into a monster.
In regards to why Obi Wan didn't raise Luke. It was pretty raw by the time they got ahold of the babies. I mean, he literally just failed training Anakin in the largest way. It's also worth noting that Obi Wan specifically treats Luke in the exact opposite way they treated Anakin. There's no "you're the chosen one," or "you're special." Obi Wan leaves it extremely open ended and almost refrains from pushing that idea on Luke. It appeared to be Luke's idea over anything else, and I find that's an important piece of info in regards to Obi Wan's head space.
I love that George Lucas had this all planned out before he made the prequels, so he could really make each movie relevant and influential in the plot that arcs over all six movies. I wish Disney had done this with the sequels.
It makes sense from George's perspective of star wars being about family. Luke needed a mother and a father figure to give him balance. Ben, a Jedi who believes that attachments to others is a vulnerability to the darkside, would not have been a good choice for a stable family. It would have been Anakin all over again.
Maybe Yoda and Ben were scared that if they raised Luke and trained him from a baby to use the force that he would have grown up with an entirely different attitude. Growing up on Tattoine as a moisture farmer with an overbearing uncle and aunt keeping him humble, sheltered, and naïve helped shape Luke into the person that we all got to love and in the end .... it was Luke's character that reminded Anakin of what he wanted to be .... someone like Qui Gon Ji because the rest of the Jedi was a let down to him. What do you think about that?
1 year later we're at episode 4 in the Obi Wan show and Therory kinda did a 180 on the "There's no way Obi Wan would leave Luke alone." He straight up did and didn't leave ANYONE in his place
Yes, the first clone wars book,(when you read it having watched the movie/series) really give you a fantastic look at the internal struggle in Anakin at that time, and what his felling are towards Yoda, Obi Wan and the order.
It really brings home for me that Ashoka by the end of rebels is the model of the ‘perfect jedi’.
The correct, ever changing balance of attachment and duty to friends and living beings vs. doing what you know is the ‘right thing’ morally.
Kenobi is the perfect farther figure; imperfect, and if he would have confided in Anakin a bit more around his imperfections it would have been a very different ROTS!
I think it's one of those things where, in the original draft, it'd make sense that he wouldn't raise Luke... but as the story evolves over the 20 years, the original reasoning didn't hold up as much but they needed to keep up with the plot point.
That, I think one huge difference between Luke and Anakin was that Luke grew up with a loving mother and father and a loving uncle in Ben who was a second father figure.
And both of Luke's fathers died before he could ever repay them, but late enough in his life (on the same day even) where he was an adult and didn't need them as much anymore...
So Luke wasn't missing a father figure and even had feelings that he couldn't repay his fathers... so then comes Vader, who is his 3rd father... now all of the sudden, this boy who was never able to repay his fathers now has a chance to make it right for one of his dads....
So it worked... Luke needed a stable life...
Sure, Obi-Wan could raise Luke, but Obi-Wan wouldn't know how to do that Jedi kids are normally raised by the temple, and they had a system that works... but in place, that makes them kinda worse and individual parents...
After Kenobi series, I think it's the best decision that Obi-Wan didn't raise Luke by himself or tried to train him since very young age. I agree with you that Luke was raised by Uncle Owen and Auntie Beru with love. He had a family Anakin never had. Having a family and spending a normal life helped Luke foster his compassion and humanity.
Little Luke, you just need to be a boy.
What if when Luke got ‘distracted’ while duelling Leia it was actually because he sensed Grogu on the totem in Mando S2E6.
I've been a star wars fan my whole life, I believed that I've thought of every aspect of the story, but that belief fails by every new video of yours. I'm so grateful for showing me new aspects of this beautiful story.
I get the sense that as soon as you open yourself up to the force you become a beacon in the galaxy. Like Snoke sensing Rey (awakening in the force). So if Ben trained Luke too early, he's super vulnerable when Palps or Vader pick up the scent. By training Luke later in life hes more capable of looking after himself.
Hey Theory, been lovin all the vids, as usual. And im lovin the member perks
Anakin is my favorite jedi and after watching the clone wars series, the prequels trilogy became the best in my opinion. Congratulations on the channel and success always!
I think they were so afraid of leaving Padme’s death open ended that they kinda just forced it into the ROTS knowing that it would put make any sense as pertaining to Leia remembering her. I guess they had no way of knowing that it could have been explained in Rogue One or even eventually in a movie showing us the earlier years of Vader. Great video
Apparently the old Star Wars Character Encyclopedia that was released before the prequels were filmed includes a later iteration of this version of events. During a Steven Colbert interview Carrie Fisher mentions Leia's stepfather suggesting that in the version she was given the twin mother married Bail Organa.
Well as soon as Luke started training, that's when Sideous felt the disturbance in the force. He would've felt it way earlier if Luke had been training since he wa a kid, giving away Obi-Wan as well.
I have always thought that from the moment Vader found out about his son in Empire, he changed and a little beam of hope returned to him; hope he had totally lost when the emperor told Vader he had killed Padme. It wasn't until the emperor was killing his son as he watched that he realized that it was his offspring that he was losing, only now he was able to prevent it. The emperor knew what he was doing when he told Vader he killed Padme, he was transforming Anakin into Vader.
I recently heard this theory from another UA-camr that Obi-Wan wanted to raise Luke and train him from birth, but Yoda, after his failures, believed that Luke should be allowed to choose for himself if he wanted to be trained as a Jedi once he was old enough, rather than forcing Luke to be trained as a Jedi without any say in the matter, like many had in the past. Therefore, he asked Obi-Wan to allow Luke to grow up with no knowledge of the Jedi, so that he could make the choice for himself when he was older. Also, I think the original idea of for Luke’s story (seeing as George wanted to tell a modern mythology tale) was that Luke would choose to leave behind his responsibilities at home, bc he wanted to make a real difference in the Galaxy and believed that he was destined for something greater. Which is often a theme in the origin story of mythological heroes.
Uncle Owen is a great character because he’s a simple man who knows exactly what was up with Luke’s family and did literally everything to protect him.
Owen tried to close off Luke’s imagination and wonder about the world, which in the end only increased Luke’s abilities because Luke began to “play” as a hero. Flying around with friends, dreaming of a life where he really mattered. Owen protected Luke to a fault but also inadvertently helped create Luke’s desire to be someone and do something great.
Uncle Owen’s entire character makes so much more sense when you look at the big picture. He’s a great character. He wanted Luke to be just like he was, and it’s obvious that he loves Luke because he keeps finding excuses to keep Luke from running off to the academy. Owen says it’s because he needs help and doesn’t have enough droids and that’s when Luke points out that Owen had already said the same thing before.
Owen grew to love Luke and wants to protect him and have him around like a son, carrying on the farming legacy. I think the dynamics of A New Hope make that really obvious.
saddest part of Vader is even if he wanted to embrace the good hes already lost his body, his love, and the trust of his friends. theres nothing familiar to go back to.
I don’t know why people think Padme died from sadness. She did get choked pretty badly by Anakin.
Cause they said medically she is fine. She’s just lost the will to live.
She wasn't choked badly. They said there was nothing medically wrong with her. However, there is a condition called stress induced cardiomyopathy which could have killed her.
I always thought she died because she knew if she lived her children would be in danger, because Vader would never give up looking for them and her. So she knew she had to die so her kids would stand a chance. Vader thinking they were dead was the safest way.
She died because sidious sucked the life force out of her and put it into anakin to turn him into darth Vader. The droid operating on padme said "medically she is healthy but for reasons we can't explain we are losing her. It appears she has lost the will to live" droids can't sense the force so they wouldn't know that that was happening. Also when darth Vader is complete the first thing he does is ask about padme, if she's alright and sidious says "it appears that in your anger you killed her" darth Vader says "no it's impossible, she was alive, i felt her". How did sidious know that she had died if he was on another planet, it had basically just happened so no news had spread about it. Anakin would have felt her presence whilst he was being operated on and when he was finished and padme had died he would have stopped feeling her presence. And sidious smiled after he told darth Vader that padme had died and Vader got angry. This was all part of sidious' plan. Ive heard that apparently sidious created anakin by manipulating the midichlorians in Shmi Skywalkers womb hence why he has no father. This is why he had such a high midichlorian count and dubbed "the chosen one". He then, years later, had people try to kill padme and then suggested she should have a Jedi watch over her for protection, someone she is close to so she feels comfortable. He suggested obi wan kenobi knowing good and well anakin would be there with him. He planted the seed for anakin and padme to get together. He could probably feel through the force that anakin had deep feelings for her, he did think about her every day for 10 years since he last saw her as a kid until he saw her again a decade later. And padme always wore that necklace anakin had made her when he was a kid, it was her most prized possession. Then it was sidious who put visions of padme dying in anakins dreams and then later convinced him that only he could help anakin save the one he loves from dying. How did he know anakin loved anyone as his love for padme was meant to be kept secret and how did he know anakin had these visions if he had never mentioned them to sidious? He continually manipulated anakin telling him the jedi don't trust him and they are holding him back because he will become too powerful for them which made him very confused. Then when mace windu was about to kill sidious anakin stopped him and saved sidious because he believed that he was the only one that could help him save padme's life even though she was never going to die. After sidious found anakin in the lava and rebuilt him he sucked the life force out of padme to save anakin. He had to kill padme to solidify darth Vader's place in the dark side. Anakin did all of that to save padme and in the end he lost her anyway. And on top of that sidious made anakin believe that he had killed her which made him hate himself. Everything sidious had done to anakin was to cause anger and hate to fuel the dark side. At this point anakin couldn't leave as he had nothing to go back to. There was not much left of his own body, the jedi were all dead and those that remained despised him for all he had done and the one close love of his life which he said he couldn't live without and was so afraid of losing was dead. And he didn't know about his kids. It's quite a sad story. In the comics Vader would think about padme in his chamber. He would think about himself as anakin with padme raising his son named Jinn Skywalker (of course he didn't know his kids were alive and already had names) on naboo. He would then be overwhelmed with anger and sadness and would scream in pain. He hated what he had become.
What's really weird is my grandpa turned me on to Star Wars as a kid, he would tell me this origin information on Darth Vader. Years later I wondered how he knew the things he was telling me because the prequels hadn't come out yet.
Been binging this channel for a few days. Great content. I'm new to Star Wars, always liked the movies but that was about it. Didn't know that the deeper story and canon was so in depth and fascinating. 👍👍
If Ben had trained Luke earlier, the inquisitors would probably have found them.
Not if they stayed on the planet + they were no where near another human being so they wouldn't of been spotted.
@@lordshadow3822 doesn't matter how far they were from other people nor what planet they were on in case you don't remember (or know) Jedi/Sith could sense one another through the force despite being planets apart
@@darkwolf780 I didn't know that
Dagobah not Tatooine had the necessary properties to prevent force detection.
And thats exactly why yoda picked that planet to stay until it was his time if he was anywhere else that didn't have as much energy to keep yoda unknown then palps would have yoda dead in a heart beat
it was obvious Anakin‘s hatred killed Padme not her own sadness from the footage, but its still interesting to think otherwise
Huge fan of the videos haven’t been this early in months can’t wait for the pod , keep up the good work theory
Now that George’s 1-6 vision is at least complete, I just assume when Leia says she remembers her mother, what she truly means is the way she felt her through the force and imprinted on her quickly after birth or even during the carriage. But yeah, wild she remembers. Figure it’s just her force imprinting or sense of her.
The Prequels was the only trilogy to be planned out from the beginning. It really shows.
“Richard m Nixon was his name” immediately should’ve known he was bad

@@Theo-bk6qj hm, the difference is the fact they left minimal damages to small business and attacked people who wronged them, not random people or buildings.
Obi-Wan said Owen didn't want Luke to be trained. He placed Luke with them because the baby needed a family of caregivers but wanted to trained them earlier than it happened. Of course, in the context of ANH only, it sounded like Luke's father (not Vader at that point) left Luke in the care of the Larses (or maybe it happened later when the mother died) and left with Obi-Wan on an "idealistic crusade" where he was killed by Darth Vader. When Obi-Wan returned Owen simply said no, we don't want Luke to become a Jedi and follow the same fate. The backstory mostly works even in light of the retcons.
Really interesting stuff here! It’s nice to see a lot of this pans out in the prequels, but how some stuff was ultimately changed.
"super annoying and intrusive"

Like to gently pet Theory’s head
As much as I liked ROTS this alternate version sounds interesting and might've made for an even better movie. It's also more in line with what we saw in the OT
I find very unfortunate that they didn't develop Anakin's psyche more in the prequels. A few bad dreams, a terribly decripted romance between him and Padme and a few chats with Palpatine... And it's enough to make him snap. I mean I always felt like Anakin turned to the dark side pretty abruptly.
You make a good job helping us understand the character but I regret it's not better told in the movies.
It is mind boggling that Lucas thought of this 40 years ago. Crazy.
🔱 It’s truly the saddest story ever written.
Obi-wan basically raised Anakin already out of obligation to Qui-gonn, and given how terribly wrong that ultimately went, I think it makes perfect sense that he was reluctant to raise Luke. And perhaps we'll see some evolution in his thinking in the series where he also, in contrast to the old Jedi ways, decides that it should be Luke freely choosing to become a Jedi when he is old enough to decide rather than be essentially indoctrinated from birth. And perhaps such training at that time might have made him easier to sense and find through the force by the Sith or the Inquisitors.
I really enjoyed this video Theory, it's so interesting to just think about all the different Theories George could of went to. I also enjoyed ur narration. Keep it up Theory!!
Your theory of could Leia or Padme change Anakin back. Is possible, here is my small proof. In SW Rebels Ahsoka Tano and Vader fought. At one point of the fight Ahsoka gets a good shot in and cracks the helmet of Vader. In that one moment Anakin re-emerges for what might be minute. Then the dark side takes over and Vader is back. But in that one moment Anakin even acknowledges Ahsoka.
So if that was Padme, who he loved wholeheartedly, she most likely could have brought him back. It might be a Smeagel, Gollum fight for a bit but I think it could have happened.
"Richard M. Nixon was his name."
Truly inspired😂
My thoughts exactly 😂
A lot of Nixon derangement syndrome back then.
Lucas has always been hard core leftist. Ironic that an even crazier leftist he personally chose - a Kennedy- to oversee how she destroyed his vision
This sounds like a more refined plot of episode 3. Anakin slowly turning, with Jedi slowly dropping instead of a big climax near the end. This would undoubtedly make the movie vey long, though he could have utilized episode 2 for that
It’s the same logic with Superman when it comes to raising luke, as opposed to being raised by confident monks obi wan probably wanted luke raised in a normal household by simple farmers. Even if he’s never trained in the force, he’ll be a good person at his core who will hopefully be trained. Rather than being powerful and having the opportunity to be corrupted while learning, he’ll know what it means to feel weak and get by without all the power.
Order 66 ultimately leads to the Mustafar BBQ.

Richard M. Nixon=Emperor Palpatine
The Nixon Administration was called the Imperial Presidency, which is one of the reason he wisely resigned in 1973.
Media fabrication
I have not seen the new Obi-wan series yet, but I figured that the reason that he could not raise Luke is because he feels that there is a good chance that sometimes he might get called by the force to go and do some dangerous missions and stuff elsewhere in several places around the entire galaxy.
I think the reason Ben didn't want to raise Luke, was similar to why Luke was reluctant to train Rey. Ben took anakin's betrayal hard, and must have blamed himself for not seeing the truth earlier. He wasn't emotionally steady anymore, and must have felt like he would fail Luke as he felt he failed anakin. Pretty straight forward, when you consider human nature.
The Obi Wan Series is about what to say if someone offers you death sticks.
Last time i was this early obi wan was being sold deathsticks
You don't want to be early. You want to go home and rethink your life.
I've always assumed that Obiwan didn't want to raise Luke and train him too early because he knew Vader would have a strong connection to him through the force, and as Luke grew stronger in the force Vader would sense him and eventually find him, that's my head cannon I guess you could say.
I like to think that Leia, being unknowingly gifted in the Force, simply saw glimpses by way of a Force vision, of her mother Padme in her final moments, which Leia then mistook for memories.
Luke would have had the same visions.
The only option is Leia was raised by Padme.
@@budthecyborg4575 Why would he have to have the same visions?
