Ahsoka was written as an 8 episode arc with an ending, so I'm assuming Baylan's own story arc comes to an end as well. Disney hasn't said anything about a second season yet, but they are open to the idea due to the fact they are monitoring audience reactions and ratings.

If he does survive the end of the series (to me its a coinflip), its possible they try recasting, but its the Boseman problem. Do you recast a beloved actor's role, or see if there is another way without jeopardizing much of the future plans.

Baylon Skoll is THE best character to emerge since the Disney buy out. The double tragedy is the death of Ray Stevenson. Both for Ray and his family and star wars fans as the fans finally had a worthy protagonist to enjoy. THE best casting decision since Ewan McGregor as Obi wan.

In canon, we have no evidence Mace Windu survived Anakin's betrayal. However, surviving Jedi would have fallen in to two camps : Those who resisted and those who succumbed. All of the post-Order-66 series have broached upon this dynamic. There would be no need to issue instructions as self-preservation is inherent in any sentient creature. We've already seen in Obi Wan that there was an "Underground Railroad" which helped surviving Jedi and Force Sensitives to evade and escape the Empire and it's Inquisitors. We also know that when the Resistance formed, surviving Jedi became involved. However, until Mandalorian 2.5 ( aka Book of Boba Fett) and Luke's New Jedi Order, we had never seen a Jedi Order in exile.

You have 1-3, were he announce his goals to annakin, and aims his "new body", we have 4-6, were he tries to get the alternative body, who withstand the ritual (Luke), and we have 7-9, were he aims a skywalker, switch to his own kind, and finally gets his immortality, when Rey do not deactivate here light saber like luke did, and finalize the ritual to immortality, and give her body to palpatine.

I don't necessarily think Baylan really knew Anakin. Perhaps in passing, more acquaintances than friends. If we assume that Baylan is the same age as the actor, then Baylan was 6 or so years older than Anakin and unlikely to be anything more than just an acquaintance.
Consider the fact that his line in the show wasn't that he personally knew Anakin, but that "everyone in the Order knew Anakin Skywalker", as in everyone knew OF him. Which, of course they did, he was the Chosen One and the apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi. As for how Baylan knew that Anakin had become Vader-some sort of prescience perhaps. Maybe Baylan saw what Anakin would become and left the Jedi, thereby avoiding being slaughtered in the temple like so many others. IN any case, I can't wait to find out. Loving this show.

Honestly is very simple i believe. He said to his apprendice that he watch his world burn when he was her age. Which means he was present at the Jedi Temple when Anakin Attacked.
Which means he saw Dark Anakin slaughter the jedis.
And also i am pretty sure he heard the clones referring to Anakin as Lord Vader. So in that way he knew all long who was the man behind that dark mask all the time.

A lot of this story is based off of the legends stories, and IIRC there was a threat from outside of known space, that Thrawn is unique suited to fight. Mayhaps Baylon see a better future with him, then without him.

Baylan dueling Vader would be really cool. He's one of the few characters I could except not getting utterly curbstomped by Vader. I mean he shouldn't be able to best him but he should atleast struggle against him a lot more than pretty much anyone aside of folks like Obi-Wan

I feel like Baylan was once a behind the scenes Jedi Taskmaster. He served a respectable career as a jedi Knight giving his inferiors different objectives or tasks to fulfill while reporting his results or findings to his superiors. That could explain why he talks like he knew prominent characters as well as Ashoka herself yet remained obscure to her until now. She simply became Anakin's Padawan and didn't have to answer to Baylan for tasking because she took her tasks from her Jedi Master. That could also explain how Baylan is still even alive. If he was the Taskmaster for upcoming jedi padawan & knights alike, his knowledge of survival skills would be incredibly high. He could've survived order 66 on those skills and a little luck.

If there is a Vader/Baylan duel, I hope it happens in either the jedi temple (and he gets pulled back through by Ahsoka), or with Anakin in the World Between Worlds.

I think it’s a little bit more simple than that from the way he talks about seeing the Jedi temple guard. He could’ve just been there, witnessing Anakin become Darth Vader killing everyone at the temple.

The chance Baylan learned the identity of Darth Vader's by probing his mind via the force is ZERO. To do this he would have to break Darth Vader's force guard, which he would never have been able to do.
Using force precognition may have been one method he found out about Anakin. Once the veil of the dark side dropped, his force precognition picked it up; especially if he turned away from the Jedi Order just prior to Order 66. The precognition would allow him to know more than just the fact the event was about to occur, adding details others such as Darth Maul and even Ahsoka would not have picked up. Even though they felt it about to occur/occurring.
Because Thrawn knew who Darth Vader was, he likely let his suspicion known to a few close to him. Once Thrawn disappeared, those who knew of Thrawn's suspicion would likely have shared it with others. Baylan likely probed the mind of someone who learned, and then meditated through the Force for details to confirm.

If we assume that he he can in fact read minds, the idea of him trying to reach to world between worlds isn't so far fetched. He would know about it from Anakin/Vader and Ahsoka and reaching it could make him a "god". In this world he can see every point in time past, future and present and the same way Ezra interacted with it and safed Ahsoka, he could use his force powers to basically probe every jedis and siths mind, gathering more and more abilities.
This could also explain his lightsaber color it's orange because it's a mixture of lightside (jedi training) an dark side (probing vader and learning force choke).

The orange lighsaber became Canon do to jedi fallen order. This is the first time we see it in any live action or animated series. Remember those games are Canon. Also means there's 2 night sisters still living since merin was the only one living till Morgan now is a night sister. Witches love the number 3. So maybe there's a 3rd or Sabine has that in her from her time on dathomir and that's where her force comes from.

Yellow is the saber colour of temple gaurdians. Many guardians fought in the clone wars. Guardians are natural fighters.
I guess orange means he can use the fighting style of Mace Windu.
Like the purple Sabre, the orange saber will still be that of a Jedi.
If he can use Mace Windu's technique, then Vader and other Sith wouldn't stand a chance against him. Windu's technique feeds off the energy of his opponent and particularly feeds off of anger and hatred. This is why Windu was able to overpower Palpatine.

Baylon says he saw the Jedi Temple burning, so he could have seen Anakin and the 501 marching in to the Temple and then see other Jedi be killed by Clones, but he later saw Darth Vader fighting with clones and realised that the 501 had not attacked Anakin that day and now they are not attacking Darth Vader. It's not that hard to put together. The why is the hard bit
