im quite happy that this year im getting the opportunity to play this piece with the western Australian phill. as a cellist this is quite a fun piece to play.
I came here after the 1rst 2 seasons of Hibike! Euphonium. This is really a great piece, i can`t wait how the movies sound. Especially "Liz and the blue bird".
so many kids for a high school orchestra !!! For anyone in that section: " why do the cellist use vibrato for pizzicato notes ?" -shouldn't the pitch be constant ?
While this is true, vibrato is not going to alter the pitch so much as to deter the listener from hearing the correct note. Vibrato adds a romantic-like touch to these notes that is helpful to create the soulful atmosphere which comes with playing these pieces. Although, I would agree that the cellos were using a decent amount of vibrato; perhaps only two shakes of the hand would suffice! :)
I still don't get why this piece is so familiar to me. It never clicked before (until I watched Hibike! Euphonium of which the theme is part of the OST funnily enough) but its very familiar from something I must have heard when younger and never known of. No clue what it could be though
Very impressive for a High School Orchestra. Conductor Aguero should be complimented

I have loved this piece of music for 50 years…just not great for freeway driving, as you will find it impossible not to speed!

Stranger in Paradise was a pop song in the USA about 50 years ago. It's based on the first theme from this work.
Same thing happening to me
