@_Ali_ Just as we flutists check that all our screws are screwed in properly before a concert. Had my instrument fall apart on me in the middle of a concert before. Not fun. All because I didn't check that the screws were secure. You don't make that mistake again. Well you might, but it's not as important then. The screws on a flute only really act up and unscrew themselves when it's a new instrument. After it's unscrewed itself and been screwed back in once you're usually golden, but you should always check. Also always carry a miniature screwdriver for your instrument just in case.

I believe her sound post had fallen. Somewhat difficult to explain, if you are unfamiliar with how violins are constructed you may need to Google a diagram. Basically violins work by transferring the string vibrations though the bridge (the light colored wooden part that holds the strings up) through a wooden dowel (sound post) inside the body of the violin to the underside. Which produces the sound. This dowel isn't glued in place, it is held securely in place by the pressure of strings against the bridge. This is also why a violinist always changes strings one at a time. If I had to guess, judging by the sheer amount of rosin caked on her instrument, her ability to play her violin is absurdly beyond her ability to property maintain it. Or it was badly, very badly mishandled.

Teufel Hunden when playing a violin, you HAVE to have good balance or posture. Especially if you’re standing up, a dress like that could make you fall. The long skirt part is of the dress is what makes it more compatible with a piano than a violin
I would say it's fine to have a long dress like that if you are wearing flat shoes. I was actually told never to wear heals and play flute. I guess you could argue that wearing a dress like that necessitates heels. Still I think I stand by that it's not the dress but the footwear that is most important.

The amazing thing is that she did exactly what she intended, and it was a sonic nightmare from start to finish. Why didn't someone tell her?
she was playing a piece meant to sound like that
Excuse me, I broke a string, can I borrow your STRADIVARIUS??????
Um, absolutely not.
id rather let someone borrow my strad rather than let the soloist go down in flames
@@alexandriahan8687 You have a Stradivarius?
@Jacques Bloques Could be a Bach Stradivarius, which is not nearly as rare or notable.

It's standard procedure. There no other option. That's the first violinist's job.
That kid in the red shirt did not fail. That was completely badass and showed incredible composure
Some of these are not fails; they are brilliant recoveries.
There really are some great improv (not on notes) moments where the performer Balls out. I love seeing a string break and the kid doesn't miss a beat. Gimme your violin Mr. Concertmaster, I have a concerto to finish.

It wasn't too bad though except a few misses

No, Arabic countries tend to use different pitches when playing music than we do, and when they try to play western music, stuff like...well, that happens.
If you play the whole thing in a certain off key it will all sound the same just off key.
It was the Russian anthem, not the Soviet Union anthem

Page turning is the toughest job ever. I once forgot to turn in the middle of a second movement, got distracted by the pianist’s beautiful playing. Air turn is good.
The timing to turn is different with different pianists. Some have the following measures memorized while others prefer you turn a little bit early. It is also different in fast music than in slow music. 😂
This video gives me extreme anxiety, being one who plays a musical instrument.

A friend of mine did it too while playing solo, she is a violinist.
I did that once during a concert with my orchestra (I'm a violist). You get to excited and fast and suddenly you lose control over your bow and now a member of the audience has a stick with horse hair. Not fun
I have the same exact story. I was playing a rather intense song and I had to switch to pizzacato and I dropped my bow. It was REALLY loud.

1. She's relying on the judges not being musical experts.
2. That's...a piano dress, not a violin dress.
What differentiates the dresses?
Teufel Hunden when playing a violin, you HAVE to have good balance or posture. Especially if you’re standing up, a dress like that could make you fall. The long skirt part is of the dress is what makes it more compatible with a piano than a violin
I would say it's fine to have a long dress like that if you are wearing flat shoes. I was actually told never to wear heals and play flute. I guess you could argue that wearing a dress like that necessitates heels. Still I think I stand by that it's not the dress but the footwear that is most important.

PPX
Sorry but having been both a solo performer on oboe, plus a soloist singer, I've also turned pages for soloists and the accompanists of soloists. It's not rocket science. It's nowhere near as difficult as the musician's part, and for you to make it sound like it is is embarrassing. For you PPX. So sad you are so wrong. Olivia is absolutely right. You Had One Job. You practiced with the pianist. You rehearsed and were there through it all. One Job!
