Good lord, that last movement is a real gut check. I actually fell in love with this piece when I played it as part of an all-state orchestra in high school. Simply an amazing piece. The Berlin Philharmonic did an amazing job with it, much better than I could have ever expected to hear from it.
It was my mother on the Baby Grand in the living room. I still hear her from the time I could sit under that piano but I didn't inherit her talent. It was Prokofiev "Peter & the Wolf" that first enchanted me.

The greatest, most virtuosic, joyous, rendition of the Capriccio EVER. The BPO in the last three minutes is like some fabulous engine, a Bugatti or BRM of music, just spinning in perfect control and unison towards the finale. Who on earth writes crowd pleasing music like this now? Answer - nobody.

+Tim R Yes, that is Daniel Strabawa, a very famous Polish violinist. He has been with the Berliner Philharmoniker now for over 30 years and is indeed a wonderful player :)
+Lukas Hofstätter Lukas, do you or any other visitors know what instrument Mr. Strabawa is playing? Surely the first chair and concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic plays a very prestigious violin. The golden color makes me think a Guarnieri--anyone know for sure?
+Paul Boehlert From 1674 he played a violin by Francesco Ruggeri but I am not sure if he still plays with it. I am also not sure if a concertmaster in Berlin Philharmonic plays with his own instrument
